  2. Hey Don I was very stimulated too But the fist time I got to fly on a herk was to Mildenhall as a support mech. for the A.R. shop but after that it was strait to the flt line for me I worked my ass off to get acc job after that it was all gravey eclark

  4. Why don't menbers use this to tell their story, their connection to the herk, where they are from, and what they do?

I was at Mildenhall in 67-68 TDY two three month tours and several 5-7 day trips with the 61st ther use to be alot of chest thumpping between the guys leaving and the guys coming in they got pretty heated at the nco club some times. I enjoyed the time I was there got to go all over Europe,Middle East and north Africa,Warsaw,Poland it was a good time

    It time to revitalize the TDY stories I know there some young guys that have some good stories with the war and all so lets talk.Its got to be better than selling blackberrys The stories help keep us old guys young

  8. This is a very sad story but they are happing every day the Vultures are out there wating for a weak and crippled animal. The dam banks that loaned people money that they knew could not pay back then grouped it with good loans so they could sell it to the vultures. I say keep your power dry gun loaded things are going to get worst. We the US are borrowing money from people that don't like us very much and when you over 50% you are in charge. I have said too much

    That web site brings back some youthful memories I was at Clark early 68 TDY from Sewart I had a good friend Sgt. Allen Shenfield who was stationed there for about a year so he knew the ropes where to go and not go we had alot of good times in town. Housed in the jungle survival school huts could have been worst
  10. Are these planes really not able to do the mission they are buying new C-17's how much fuel can you buy with that much money I know they are slow and not as fuel efficent It is a catch 22 keeping jobs are saving money

I joined the Air Force in Sept.65 because you couldn't get a job if you were class 1-A the factory's dindn't want to hire anyone they knew was going to the service they didn't want to keepyou on the rolls and pay benefits while you were gone. I was one of 9 kids living on a farm with winter coming on I was just going to be a burden on mon and dad
  12. We did one of those in Feb. 68 it took the whole cargo bay you could just get by on the side it was real heavy got it in Naha I think took it Korea I remember because we had a low prop oil light on run up had to taxie back and check it it wasn't low did not come back on misson accomp.

Chris you are right on I was tdy the last week of Dec.-first week of Jan to the Congo came home was alerted when North Korea stole the USS Pueblo we took a F4 maint. crew to either Kunson or Kimpo it was inthe middle of the nite it was at lest 10 degrees and them airman were from Seymore A.F.B. S.C. We was over in SEA till April came home two week later we went Mildenhall for three months while we were gone they changed the maint. N.C.O.'s they done away with the assinged Crew Chiefs and made everybody line C.C that did not set well so about 30 of us maint. people got out

    WE took mine to Wassaw Poland in 1968 the Pilot backed the plane up several times to show off the ability of the C-130E we had agreat time the commies didn't have a plane that would back up. The AC did a assault take off there was lot of people watching

    If I remember right we pogo'ed every tank on pre-flight and most of the time you would find some water. I think sometime they would bring sample bottles to take the drained fuel. A old crewchief told me that if you would take a little oil and put it on the end of probe it would help protect the seal on the drain when they start leaking your plane was going the fuel cell
  17. In the picture the maint. hangers for the 61,62,4442 are not built yet they where between I row and the big hanger looks like they are under construction Isee there is a plane on the wash rack. I stayed in the brick barricks they where top of the line at that time drive by that place 4,5 times a year but don't have time to stop, The Sewart Alumni are going to have there reunion May 21 22 23 24 at airport Marrrott.   19. That was when we were alerted when the Pueblo was stolen we went to S.C. to pick up a Fighter Maints crew for F4's we took them to Kunson. afther that we were in PACAF for about three months we flew in and out of Clark

    In 1967 we was tdy to Fort Benning to do Jump School Graduation it was three days before Thanks Giving the weather socked us in so the air crews wanted to go back to Sewart for the holidays us crews chiefs didn't want to leave are planes there with no one to look after them so we stayed they had us in efficiency apartments better than at Sewart. We went shopping and made us thanksgivings Dinner with plenty of Holiday Libations.It was a thankgivings to remember
  21. I wasn't so lucky when I went to NPR Center they sent every thing but that I was TDY to Veitnam in 68 several times with the 61st but thats allright I know I was there

  24. Robins A.F.B. has set May2&3 as thier air show dates they have one of the best air shows in the southeast. The Thunderbirds,Golden Knights will be there. They also have avery good Air Musem. It will be a great show have been there maney times:) :)
  25. I agree the system was broke now they may fix it in the 60\'s we had know warning\'s that I know of but do reminber the jet coming in in the middle of the night
