DC10FE
Bob, I\'m sure you just overlooked it, but 57-0462 (3169) is still wingless & tailless & being used as a fuels trainer at MacDill. I just saw it last month while doing my bi-annual trip out there. Don R. Don, He just asked about Sheppard. Bob Oops. I misread it. Don R. Railrunner130
I\'ve got time in a bunch of those airplanes! And right before the wing crack grounding/restrictions came out, broke most of those restrictions!!
mill7788
Right now we're looking at shoe-horning one of them into the old hangers (bldg 1080). We are due to get some newer "broken" airplanes in for trainers and were asked how many we really needed. They are trying to conserve ramp space, so the idea was brought up to take the empenage off and either cut the outer wings at the splices or keep all 4 engines by cutting off at the outboard fuel tanks. A trainer like this would allow us to do most of our 3 level certs for the course in case of bad weather. These would be: R2 MLG wheel and tire axle jacking Prop service check Power On Tire serviceing and possibly NLG wheel and tire depending on the CG Also it would be a great training aid for the non-cert items we still cover (Hydro, Ramp & Door, etc.). If anyone has some ideas, they would be greatly appreciated. I'll be running around the base talking with CE and the Fire Dept for awhile. SonnyJ
54-1621 I am pretty sure that is the bird we cut up in 1996-1997 timeframe. That was my first TDY with the 653 CLSS.
bobdaley
Steve any updates on the tail numbers? Thanks Bob
mill7788
Still in the planning stages. Just got tapped to try and figure out if it can be done. Don't know the tails that we would be recieving to replace the ones you all already mentioned. So far the replacement planes are going to the 360th TRS (soon to be 362nd TRS in Aug.).
