  1. The regulator must be changed to match the generator, regardless if just the generator is changed or the QEC is changed. Our USAF T.O.s don't mention it either for the engine change, but do for the generator, just like your books. Oops. I have no idea if our engine packages have generators on them.
  2. I called one of the retired NASU (Natec) reps out there, and he couldn't remember exactly. I went to see him on a site visit from Norton, and it was late 80's. I still have a sticker or two with the LA Raiders Logo. They must have been refered to as the Raiders already, as they asked the footbal team if the could use an adaptation of the logo. They got to LA in 1982, so I am assuming it was a few years after that. Probably figure 1984 or 85. The Riaderettes sometimes made it to the Air Shows at El Toro. Michael is going to send an e-mail to another guy to see if he remembers.
  3. Damn, dude, go back to the bars...
  4. If you go to the Hog's Breath, the history of it says it opened in '76. Not so true. I went there all the time in the original one, and that was in '74 when I was going to tech school at Keesler. It was one of the few things on Destin Island. My dad was stationed at Hurbie Field, and I went home about every other weekend. I like to think I helped establish the place. Yea, definitely make it to Mobile, and be sure to go inside the USS Drum, an old diesel sub. I would take in a fishing excursion if I were you.
  5. No sweat, sorry about bustin' yer chops. Didn't mean anything by it, caused by an extra glass of wine (or two). I just stumbled across this book one day looking for something else. If you guys don't have it, you should probably order it. TO 1C-130H-4-15-1 TECHNICAL MANUAL ILLUSTRATED PARTS BREAKDOWN ORGANIZATIONAL MAINTENANCE GROUND HANDLING EQUIPMENT USAF SERIES C-130E/H, HC-130H/N/P, LC-130H AND MC-130P AIRCRAFT
  6. I love it when you post an answer and there is no reply...
  7. Sounds like the wire between C1 of the touchdown relay and pin 1 of the actuator connector is open to me, or the touchdown relay is bad. When you pull the touchdown relay, the door probably is opening to the 15 degree flying position, as it should. Not really a whole lot to go bad for the full open position. If you have 28V at pin 1 with the circuit breaker in, then the actuator may be bad. Not sure exactly what diagram to look at, since I have no idea what model and year you have.

  9. According to webflis, they aren't USAF parts, and they are part of a fax machine support. http://www.dlis.dla.mil/webflis/pub/pub_search.aspx
  10. Found one with spokes in the archives... I know, it's just plain wrong. ***
  11. I'm surprised they aren't bat caves or some other habitat for creatures. I guess it would be too hot.
  12. Spoked rims, what, are they putting double deuces on 'em now. Pretty soon, well have that set of 3 buick engine cooling vents under the flight deck windows...
  13. Yea, that should be good enuf.
  14. Thanks Mike, I had that. Some stuff you never get rid of. Senior, that's perfect. I never got to work or fly on anything newer than a 74 either.
  15. Thank for the info, guys. I'd still like a pic of the flush button and sticker, if at all possible. I kn ow exactly where the button is according to the -4, this is for someone else.
  16. There should be some large ones in the production number gallery.
  17. If it drives cold when you short the pins at the anticipator stat IAW the FI, then I would grab a stat from another A/C, or put that one in another A/C and Op Check it.

    Toilet

Could someone take a picture of the flushable toilet in the newer C-130s and post the pic. Also get a closer one of the flush button. I would appreciate it.
  19. The wing supports beam is shown in the 1C-130A-3, section 57-10-00, figure 57-10-02. There is no part number for it that I know of. The figure shows how to make it.
  20. PMA? Those of us with no J models have no idea what a PMA is.
  21. Thanks John. Larry, we hired Tim Martin back into the avionics position. He was an AFETS for 3 years before I got to Moody.
  22. I'm thinking they flicker when the anti-skid is cycling the valve. Who's looking at the panel when the aircraft is touching down? Maybe that's why some people will never see it.
