  1. I have very little experiece with the A/C system, but is it possible you are losing some bleed air via the aux vent valve or the floor heat shutoff valve? What about the cargo compartment/flight deck diverter valve? Also, is the air recirculation fan on, and is it operating the way it should be? This is what was in Volume 16, No 2, Lockheed Service news: If flow is weak, or if there is no flow, check the position of the flow control valve. The position indicator on the side of the valve should indicate about one-third to one-half open. The valve operation is affected by ambient conditions and bleed air system pressure; therefore the exact position may vary somewhat, depending on operating conditions. Be sure to check for system leakage at duct joints, especially at the water separator. Visual inspection will usually pinpoint this type of trouble. A failed cooling turbine will also result in reduced airflow; however, this condition will also be accompanied by an inability of the system to provide adequate cooling.
  2. Is there a plug number on the inside of the aircraft for those two cannon plugs, or a wire number or two you can give me??
  3. Wow, I bet there is a buttload of spare LRU's for her!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I believe that was the one, are you sure it was a 37th crew? Hell, could have been a regular AWADS bird too, I've slept since then. They called me late that night and asked me if I was sure I red X'd it.
  5. It'd take some money coming my way before I was caught driving that damn thing.
  6. Speaking of radome bolts... I opened the radome on Talon 1 at Rhein Main, and red x'd it of course. The aircraft took off and landed at another base, and they noticed the radome was loose. Turns out the guy that signed it off from the truck had a 3 level go make sure the bolts were installed in the radome. They sure were, well, at least the dummy bolts on the outside edge were. He never looked inside at all.
  7. I thought it was the band-aid panel. Either way, it covers the hinge point.
  8. How do you take the world's ugliest modern automobile, and make it even uglier??? Easy... Ta-Daa!!
  9. I fried my ass a bit on F4 leading edge bleed air, getting off the aircraft on a red ball.
  10. I honestly don't remember, but it probably had something to do with Amstel and/or Ouzo.
  11. I think you are right on the money, that they are used to create a larger wing area, allowing for slower speeds.
  12. I seem to remember a 7th SOS pilot hanging from a ceiling light in Bobby's II in Glyfada. Work Hard, Play Hard.
  13. Servicing the turbines in is 12JG-10-2, section 6. It is changed every ISO (450 days) and checked during HSC.
  14. I want to delete this post, but can't figure out how...
  15. I checked with my mom, and she told me she didn't remember a Mario's. BUT, she said they only went to one gift shop. I find that hard to believe, because if my dad could have saved a nickel, he'd have gone to another store. Lino's must have been giving him a deal he couldn't refuse, since he spent a couple grand every time he went down there.
  16. When I was a dependant at Spangquentin, Germany from 69-73, my dad would by those globe bars, alabaster and onyx stuff down there and resell it at Spang. Seems like there was more than one store, and there may have been a Mario's as well.
  17. Yea, a couple free nights to hit Orsini's and the Hole In The Wall pizza joint. It wasn't all bad.
  18. I know I worked at least 100 AWADS writeups on that damn thing.

Funny stuff. Glad to see you are doing well with it. We had a guy in the shop that did the C-130 cartoon in the Pope AFB paper. He came up with some pretty good ones.
  20. Whatever the instruments do, the autopilot will try to follow when it's coupled to them. That AP1 and AP2 is kind of confusing anyway, but the AP1 is pilot's intruments, AP2 is copilot's. Y'all probably knew that though.
  21. Thanks for the kind words, everyone. She has changed a lot in the last few months, and here I thought the USAF would have to change to accomodate her! I'll never sell out maintenance. I've been doing this for 35 years now, and I can say that I am proud of anyone who has anything to do with A/C maintenance or operations. I'm just getting tired of shaking my head every time I see new changes come down, wondering what the hell these people are trying to do to my Air Force. My neck feels like I've been sitting through a 7-6, 6-7, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 tennis match. To quote Lt. Col Frank Slade, "If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a flame thrower to this place!"
  22. Yea, it all started going downhill with P.C. Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a Turd by the clean end.
  23. My wife got it at a German sports store by Ramstein. Just about all the other 500 pieces of Bitburger stuff I got on German ebay or at Flohmarkts.
