I all ways keep one on the plane for use when you didn't have your flashlight handy.They gave off pretty good light when it was real dark.

Fort Benning,Ga. 1967 Nov. Thanksgiving week we got socked in,and the flight crews wanted to go back to Sewart to be with there families. The crew chiefs wanted to stay with there planes. So they put us up in a condo we went shopping and had a thanksgiving dinner cooked by us it was very good turkey and all the trimings.And lot of libation. The weather changed and the flight crews came back and all was well.I remember this to this day it was a good time with the people at the time was your brothers.

From my crew chief years the worst was the training flt. crews the instructor pilot was very cool but trainees were all over the place.But all in all it was a good time I miss it.

Not alot to do on the island look at the surf wait for a pan am plane to come so you could watch the stewardess leave the flight line. Watch it rain up on the mountain. thats about it.

I went to the congo in Dec. 67, we didn't know where we were going until we left Homestead A.F.B. We went Ascension, Island in and out of the Congo for a couple of weeks then we went in picked up the 82nd and came home.

Yea! Dawson when I was at Sewart, I was a 5 level E-3,ACC, Was promoted and was Crewchief.Later we where made Buck Sgt. I guess to make it look better on maints. forms.

I don't get it you get promoted but have to wait a year for someone to retire. Will you draw the pay of E-6.I don't think it was like that back in the old days.
