  1. I doubt it, the boxes we're putting on the planes now are J model boxes with some "mild" modification to fit right. I think they were designed not to crack like the old ones. Of course they redid them in the 80's not to crack like the old ones, so time will tell. I do know there were a few J-birds that had bad nutplate on the wings a few months ago.
  2. Don't forget Little Rock got some of the H3's.
  3. If I remember correctly, H2's have Analog gauges and old APN-59 Radars, H2.5's have Digital fuel gauges, rosemont pitot system, Low power color radar and a few other avionics upgrades. Then you have H3's with MACAWS and digital flight instruments, and a flight deck designed for NVIS. Then H3.5's which start with 95-1001. They have digital engine instruments and strip formation lights. They also have a microwave I think Minnesota has all them though.
  4. Man, the 123's sure got lucky. Any idea what tails those two are?
  5. Everything looks to be closed, I'm guessing either the hooks were too far out and it slipped or they didn't go over-center and it pulled out. The handles and torque tube looks to be in the closed position.
  6. "the engeineer saw the door open light and straped in to check it out." "I was told was the FE went to check a door wrning light and when he got to the door it dropped off." So what I'm getting from this thread is that FE's should by no means be allowed ANYWHERE near the Crew door during flight.
  7. We had a plane at Dyess come up with a compass write up before take off, so my best friend (GACS) did a redball on it to fix it. He amended the write up after troubleshooting to basically "Flux capacitor broken". We all got a giggle out of it and he set forth to work when a new "Butter Bar" LT Navigator came and asked what was wrong and how long it would take to fix. My buddy told him the flux capacitor was messed up. We spent the next five minutes getting yelled at and cussed out by this LT about how he's an officer, not some idiot who would fall for our asshole jokes and we should know better than to disrespect him like this and we're all gonna get paperwork and if he has his way lose a stripe, ect... After letting him on his rant, my buddy showed him the job guide, specifically where it says "Flux Capacitor" The LT turned solid red and stormed back onto the plane, never spoke to us again. Though I guess the crew found out what happened since as soon as they landed the AC found us and apologized to us for his new guy. Was still funny as hell though.
  8. They have different tanks scales on each side. One for outboards, one for inboard and I remember seeing one that had a scale for an External at one time. Though how you get in in there I have yet to see.

I remember playing around in FEDLOG in the desert a few years back, they had Bud, Coors and a couple others. As well as Cigs, and we even found a Ferrari in there somewhere.

I'll bet the person who wrote that makes more than I do. In any case I think I'll try ordering that NSN tonight and see what comes up :D
  11. I looked in the GE as well, didn't find it. Maybe it's in the 12JG. I'll look tonight if I have a few spare minutes.
  12. I believe that there's a conversion chart in the -00GE. I'll look tonight and see if my memory is working.
  13. I'm not sure how many here have been following Robins new High Velocity Maintenance, Where they do a partial depot at shorter intervals. I was talking to one of the older guys a while back and heard about the Air Force trying the concept out before in the 70's or 80's, but they missed something on the partial depot and there was some kind of accident. He didn't remember much past that, but I've heard a few stories about it over the years. Does anyone know if it's true and if so, what happened?
  14. I need to print out that pic and take it to work. Last week we had a guy doing a preflight and crank the APU, with plugs in. A buddy and I saw it and ran over and asked him what the **** he was doing. When we brought up the plugs his answer was "But I'm not turning the AC on." Other peoples kids, I tell ya.
  15. They cut on when they lost their connection to aircraft power. A hard enough landing and sometimes they would pop out of the socket. Seen a few like that.
  16. They're used on everything up to an H3. The only ones with the new style are J-birds and some spec ops planes.
  17. It needs spinners and hydraulics. And a wing, can't forget the wing.
  18. Don't throw yourself under the buggy, I fell once at Wally world, some 80 year old lady hit me. Those things hurt. As for the job, I've heard they're great as long as you go over and basically do what your told and keep quiet. I had one buddy who went over there and was told he was not to let anyone see his Bible since they could send him to jail for it.
  19. Just a little useless knowledge, we always called it the "Band-Aid Patch" since it looks like the plane has a Band-aid on it's nose.
  20. The 653rd was by far my favorite squadron. Sad to see it go.
  21. I was DCC on 1582 in the desert a few years back. She actually flew great till she had a bleed air leak. After that she was ramp queen.
  22. I need to print that out and take it to work.
  23. We had a big thing here at Robins about that. The Engineers and QA said you could do one at a time without no-loading, but I'd get the paperwork on it before doing anything.
  24. So where does the big turret go when the plane lands? Looks to big to stay down, I'm assuming in retracts somehow. Anyone find any pictures on it on the ground?
  25. We had it out at Functional when it was done, never seen so many off the wall problems as that thing. Took almost a month to fix pressurization.
