Anyone know where I can get a nice C-130 Mural as a going away gift for one of my contracting folks? I checked the base with no luck. Before I get on the computer and start googling...figure this is the best place to check. I did not see anything in the store on the site here.

CSAF Introduction to Airmen It is an extraordinary privilege for Suzie and me to join you as your new first family. We are grateful for this rare opportunity. I want to lay out what I think is important as clearly as I can. The U.S. Air Force is a premier organization that provides our Nation a vast array of capabilities in air, space and cyberspace. The Nation is at war and the capabilities we provide our leadership are critical to success. Whether our contribution is in irregular warfare in Iraq and Afghanistan, the fight to save lives through humanitarian relief operations, or deterrence and dissuasion of potential adversaries, the Air Force is a key c…

We just finished a project today and as we loaded the truck during the hour of 1300 the sound of the four fans of freedom started getting louder and we all looked up into the Tehachapi sky and saw a Euro green stretch Herk with RAF markings. Could not get exact tail numbers due to the fact they were right over head. The refueling probe sticking out the front and the red and blue markings on the tail confirmed a RAF Herk. Always a pleasure to hear a herk in the air in our area. Tehachapi, California in case you all were wondering, is the center of the aviation universe, and the home of Adaptive Aerospace. we are nestled nicely in the mountains between Bakersfield and Ed…

On Yahoo News WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Pentagon has proposed selling to Iraq six Lockheed Martin Corp (LMT.N) C-130J cargo aircraft and related equipment and services valued at up to $1.5 billion. Along with the six \"Super Hercules\" aircraft, the Iraqi government has requested 24 engines built by Rolls-Royce Group Plc (RR.L), the Pentagon\'s Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in a notice to Congress dated on Friday and made public Monday. The Iraqi Air Force plans to use the C-130J to support its troops and for humanitarian relief operations, the congressional notification said. The estimated cost is $1.5 billion, the notice said. \"Purchase of new tra…

The closing paragraph is classic ................ President Truman When President Truman retired from office in 1952, his income was substantially a U.S. Army pension reported to have been $13,507.72 a year. Congress, noting that he was paying for his stamps and personally licking them, granted him an \'allowance\' and, later, a retroactive pension of $25,000 per year. When offered corporate positions at large salaries, he declined, stating, \'You don\'t want me. You want the office of the president, and that doesn\'t belong to me. It belongs to the American people and it\'s not for sale..\' Even later, on May 6, 1971, when Congress was preparing to aw…

The pastor asked if anyone in the congregation would like to express Praise for answered prayers. A lady stood and walked to the podium. She said, \'I have a Praise.\' Two months ago, my husband, Jim, had a terrible bicycle wreck and his scrotum was completely crushed. The pain was excruciating and the doctors didn\'t know if they could help him.\' You could hear an audible gasp from the men in the congregation as they imagined the pain that poor Jim experienced. She continued, \'Jim was unable to hold me or the children and every move caused him terrible pain. We prayed as the doctors performed a delicate operation . They were able to piece together the crushed re…

SOF To Convert One C-27J To Gunship Lite Jul 25, 2008 Amy Butler The Pentagon is planning this fiscal year to buy one C-27 for quick modification as a prototype gunship to augment U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command’s (AFSOC) existing AC-130 fleet. A $1.8 billion reprogramming request from the Pentagon for FY ’08 includes a set aside for $32 million for the purchase of a single C-27, which would be modified to include “proven/known†weapons, sensors and other tactical systems for what AFSOC is calling an AC-XX Gunship Lite prototype. “This prototype will serve as a risk mitigation effort to field a new platform to operate in austere location…

The last active Bomb Live Unit-82 in the Air Force inventory was detonated at the Utah Test and Training Range July 15 with the assistance of the 919th Special Operations Wing from Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. \"This BLU-82 was dropped as part of the aging and surveillance program for the weapon,\" said Capt. Andrew Jauhola of the 582nd Missile Maintenance Squadron at Hill Air Force Base. \"The data gathered will give us more information on the shelf life of the explosive used in the weapon.\" The BLU-82, also known as the \"Commando Vault\" bomb or the \"Daisy Cutter\" bomb in reference to its specific nose fuse assembly, was originally designed to clear landing pads…

I was just curious what happened to all the C-130s that were assigned to Elmendorf AFB when they got C-17s? I would think they would stay with PACAF and go to Yokota, but I\'m not sure. Anyone know? I ended up doing a good bit of work on those bird in Afghanistan in 2005, but didn\'t enjoy it at all. They were pig compared to the ANG Herks. Thanks in advance, Jason

I had gone to look for an image that I had seen sometime back. I had thought it was here, but it was not. So I figured it was at the Air Force\'s photos \"site\" The Air Force had some extraordinary, high def images of some ..just about every aircraft they use. http://www.af.mil/photos/ And it is not just the main one. It is also the individual air bases \"sites\" that are missing. When did I miss this going off line?

We were sitting around telling sea storys about who flew what and when and the C-130 designations came up (Bs, Es, Hs, H(H)s, & Vs). We had 4 HC-130H(H)s out in Sacramento (McClellan AFB) in the 80s, 1454(4265), 1453(4260), 1452(4255) and 1451 which was a \"loaner\" from the AF after we lost the 1600 on Attu, AK. We couldn\'t remember what the extra (H) stood for in the designation. The planes all had the fulton nose and were plumbed for internal tanks and had the overhead rail system in them. Any help out there? Senior Sends

Okay, so I was just wondering how the two stack up. It seems to me that Airbus is getting into the game really late. I am going to do a bit of looking around on the net. Let me know what you all think. Sorry if this is a dead horse.

I was asked this question by a friend of mine & I didn\'t have an answer (nothing unusual there!). Did the C-130E have any kind of 60HZ electrical outlet in the cockpit for a shaver or CD player? I remember a couple of 28 volt outlets for the Aldis lamps on the side panels. I also think there was a 60HZ outlet back by the iron lung area. Thanks, Don R.

A C-130 was lumbering along when a cocky F-16 flashed by. The jet jockey decided to show off. The fighter jock told the C-130 pilot, “watch this!†and promptly went into a barrel roll followed by a steep climb. He then finished with a sonic boom as he broke the sound barrier. The F-16 pilot circled back and asked the C-130 pilot what he thought of that? The C-130 pilot said, “That was impressive, but watch this!†The C-130 droned along for about 5 minutes and then the C-130 pilot came back on and said: “What did you think of that?†Puzzled, the F-16 pilot asked, “What the heck did you do?†The C-130 pilot chuckled. “I stood up, stretched my le…

I just received this from another Retired C130 FE & think it is worth passing on to every one in \"Herky\" land. Glenn Subject: Propane Tank Warning A message from the Law Enforcement Network: For those of you who like to grill it up during the summer, here\'s a safety announcement you should be aware of. Please put this information out to ALL. Even if you do not use and exchange a propane tank, send this out for those that do. This is something you definitely need to be aware of, especially in light of the recent news of \"Meth-labs\" in our area: \"There was a meth training/workshop yesterday and there was a lot of great n…
