Regarding the picture of SAT\'s 907SJ in the Sudan. Was that the one where they used a baobab tree to hang the old engine in lieu of a stand? If so that is really field expedient maint.

Does anyone know the names of the individuals in the picture of the Desert One Crew Republic in front of 62-1809? I would like to know the name of the black guy in the first row, third from the left. I believe he was a loadmaster we flew with out of CCK in 1971-72. Thanks.

I was looking up some stuff for Hush on his Berlin for Lunch Bunch and then talking with Tiny Clark about the 62 models and came up with a question. Back in the early 70\'s the USAF started dumping its most beat up E\'s on the Guard and Reserve. The 62\'s and any real doggy 63\'s and 64\'s they had. The Guard and the Reserve fixed them up and now the USAF is getting them all back. The only Guard units with E\'s are the PRANG and LRF and the Reserve has none. Anyhow my question is, there were 6 62 models not counting ABCCC that did not go to the ARF. Three were former MEAFSA later Jackpot later Berlin E\'s later Pacer Coin 62-1819,1822,1828. Two were MEAFSA, Jackpot E\'s…

For Bab Daley (and others who may be interested): I\'m hosting a reunion of the 7405th & 7580th Operations Squadrons (7575th Ops Gp) in Dayton from 2-4 May 2008. I\'m trying to determine if there is a history of the 3 Hercs (62-1819, 1822 & 1828) that were assigned to the 05th from the time they converted till the closing of the squadron. I was able to get some of the pictures from your collection, but am not aware if a \"history\" of each Herc exists. Any assistance would be appreciated. If anyone would like to attend the reunion, please send me an e-mail at: [email protected] Thanks Much Bob- Mike Hushion

Hello all, im new here. Recently put a scale radio controlled herc (100inch wingspan) into the air, and stupidly forgot about the time. She ran out of fuel on rhs two engines on climbout after low (approx 20feet) slow pass...and well...crashed. I need to build a new fueselage to replace the original and do not have any scale plans as the original kit was an ARF (almost ready to fly). Can anyone help me out with scale herky bird plans??? Does anyone know the names of the special paint used on early Combat Talons? I don\'t think that there would be a FS number for them. This is for Mark S who will be releasing a decal sheet of various Combat Talons. 1. He wants to know if there is a FS number 2. He list the colors as black and tan. 3. He mentions a short dash 7 and a long dash 15 engines. Someone said that one color was SAC Bomber Tan, although it looked green. The tan on B-52s was a reddish brown and not like the green on Combat Talons. Mark has also gotten information that the dash 7 and dash 15 engines were of different length. I think he is refering to someone who has lengthened the engines to th…

Wandering if anyone from the 11th CAMS at McClellan is on this site? I was stationed there 73 to 76. We worked WC (55th Weather) and HC (41st ARRS). We had lots of good times there. The aircraft that is parked at the front gate of Little Rock sat on the ramp at McClellan for lots of months along with its sister ship that also escaped. It didn\'t look anything like it does now.

A 44-year-old C-130 tactical airlifter that received a Purple Heart during the Vietnam War and has been operating in Southwest Asia has flown its last combat mission. Capt. Christopher Moore reports that the veteran Hercules, No. 63-7865, accumulated more than 29,500 flying hours over its service. It now goes back to Ramstein AB, Germany, its current assignment, before making the trip to the Boneyard at the Davis-Monthan Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center.

Does anyone have any close ups of the two rails attached to the bottom of the upper rear cargo door of Rescue HC-130Hs/Ns/Ps? I believe that when the door was raised in-flight, the rails were connected to overhead rails in the cargo bay and were used to lift and drop the air rescue package. Does anyone have more detailed information on its use? This is for a modeler who is building an HC-130P. Also, the 33rd ARRS had the MAC badge and Rescue tail band on a SEA camo bird in the mid 70s. Does anyone know the tail number so I can look it up in your photo library? Also, does anyone know of the tail number of the HC-130Ps that supported HH-53s on the Son Tay Raid? Any help …

I\'m looking for Tom Lahovski. He was a copilot in the 61st from around 1970 thru 72 or 73. He then went Palace Chase to the Willow Grove unit when it still had the old Roman-nose A models. Last time I saw him was around 87 or 88. If anybody knows him and has an e-mail or snail mail address for him, I appreciate it. Mike

The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) announced Tuesday the remains of two US servicemen, missing in action from the Vietnam War, have been identified and will be returned to their families for burial with full military honors. They are Capt. Warren R. Orr Jr., U.S. Army Special Forces, of Kewanee, IL; and Airman 1st Class George W. Long, US Air Force, of Medicine, KS. Long was buried September 30 in Medicine, and Orr\'s burial is being set by his family. On May 12, 1968, these men were part of a crew on a C-130 Hercules evacuating Vietnamese citizens from the Kham Duc Special Forces Camp near Da Nang, South Vietnam. While taking off, the cre…

I was digging thru some stuff in the loft the other day and stumbled on some old video\'s. There was one where our Herk got stuck while operating as a bladder bird. In Bolivia must have been in the 80\'s. I can remember it was a real bad week, only to get worst when we got out of the first hole only too get in other and this time we knocked off no.4 prop. And I still remember the CCT guy telling us \" this area is good cause I checked it myself\", yeah!! Anyways if someone can give me a clue on how too transfer from VHS to something that I can share. Let me know?
