Anyone know the exact number of turns on the flap manual drive to go full travel? They told us in tech school, but that was almost ten years ago and I've forgotten. That and whenever I try to count I get frustrated around 150 turns and quit.

OK... Engine and Gearbox oil pressures. Engine 50-60 +/- 10 (for a range of 20 USAF written, USMC/ISN implied) What can you say... the flux exceeds the limitation Gearbox 130 or 150-250 +/-20 (for a range of 20 USAF written, USMC/ISN implied) HUGE flux I do not want to get into the limitation themselves but would like to poll the Forum on application of the flux limitation… There is a movement to “allow†the flux to go above or below the maximum and/or minimum values (UNDERSCORED LIMITATIONS) as long as the “mean†is in the allowable range. So say the mean is 131 worst case +/- 20 the “allowable†flux would be as low as 111… Plea…

I am looking for the T.O. Number for rebuilding -117 props out of the box after overhaul. I am also looking for the T.O. Number for installing overhauled engines into the QEC. Can anybody give me an NSN or manufacturer for the LT-27 rear lord mount inspection guage, and the part numbers for the weighing scales and adjustment cone to weight and balance the flight control surfaces. Any help would be most appreciated.

Hello I’ve been around and learning with all of you for a while now but it’s my first time posting. My name is Rui and I’m a Herc driver in the Portuguese Air Force…. I’m also a proud SUPT grad! I did some of my best flying in the states…unfortunately not in the Herc The question I have is simple: would you, as a crew, have any special consideration while dumping with an outboard engine on fire? I’m asking because it is not in the flight manual and there as been some discussion in my sqn. about how you should dump in that situation. Some have the opinion that you should dump from the opposite dump mast only (we fly H models with dump valves). Some others say …

Does anyone have numbers for the test stand maximum static thrust for the various engine and prop combinations used on the Herc over the years? I'm interested in doing some theoretical comparitive takeoff performance calculations for the standard USAF Herc models A,B,E,H,and J. The method I'm using is based on some simplified thrust-to-weight equations and works better with actual test stand results than by using the handbook spec figures for shp and torque. Am particularly interested in the A,E,&H all of which I flew. Thanks

On the ISO work card deck, Card NO. 1-214 it says: D. FLOW CONTROL VALVE FILTER CONDITION; CLEAN BY ULTRASONIC METHOD (AIRCRAFT PRIOR TO 74-1658). The IPB does not show this filter. Has anyone ever delt with this before? Is the filter within the flow control valve? There should be one for the flt deck and cargo compartment. Thanks.

Hi- I am curious about the location of a DIRCM pod on a Herc. The phrase "DIRCM" here could be used in the generic form. I think DIRCM is easily confused with LAIRCM (which began testing on C-130's in 2004) I read on Global Security -dot- Org (dated 2005) that there are 59 C-130's in USSOCOM that have this thing on it. I found an image of tail 69-6574 here: http://www.herkynoseart.com/images/6574_gunship_3.jpg I am 90% certain this image shows a DIRCM pod, but can anyone confirm? Thanks, Smudge

Just wondering…what kind of restrictions do any of the operators represented in this forum have about Heavy airdrops in the stretched version of the Herc? I know some just don’t do it at all but since there is no flight manual restriction…. Any inputs on that?!

I have a question, and what I got for a response from two F.E.s here at Moody, I'm not sure they understood. Or maybe I don't understand. When the external tank dump switches are placed to DUMP, the voltage which operates the TANK EMPTY lights is removed from the circuit. How do you know when to shut the pumps(s) off? Do you just use the pressure reading? Seems kind of dumb to me, but I'm just a pointy head.

This incident occurred last August. Damage was noted during pre I's and E's inspection. Upon further inspection we found extensive damage throughout the rest of the engine. Investigators determined that damage had to come from two after body screws that were found to be missing. I was hesitant to accept this explanation because I just dont see how they could have ended up in the intake. I have seen afterbody screws back out before and I usually find them down in the oil pan. My supervision was more focused on pointing the finger at us crew chiefs so they automatically assume human error in that we should have seen those screws missing two days earlier during a combo. I am…

Hi all, I'm new here, and found the site after a lengthy search. Looks like a great site, and am already finding it hard to leave the computer. Can anyone pont me to a place where I may be able to find the differences between the sub models in the C-130H. EG. I know that the RAAF use the C-130H-3 and found some technical specs on it, but the USCG use the C-130H-7. I'm only guessing but it would appear to me that the number is a modification designator within the H model. Thanks, Sean

During the Dash 1 power on portion of the preflight inspection we seem to have mass confusion in our squadron on a specific step, Item 8. ADI SEL switches - NORM. This setting seems to be a great debate among our engineers. Does this step refer to the ADI NORM/ADI REPEAT switch on the copilots FDMS or the ADI SEL switchs on the pilot and copilots side to select the ADIs to either NORM or SKE. And if it is the ADI NORM/ADI REPEAT switch on the copilots FDMS then why does Item 8 say switches instead of switch since there is only one of these.

I am looking for some help with window specifications. Does anyone know if there is a mil spec number for the plexiglass used in the cabin windows? My customer wants to replace some windows that are crazed (aren't we all a little... these days?) Also, crew door technical data or drawings. Where would I find a drawing for the crew door on an H model?

Hello, Can anyone direct me to a webpage where I can find the technical data of an "E" model? Belgian Air Force aquired a 1964 "E" model from Evergreen Aviation, to replace the CH-02 which got lost in a fire at SABENA-Technics, Brussels International, (EBBR). And maybe someone can help me with the "Super E" model? Thanks in advance !
