I'm a former aeromedical specialist who served with the 61st and 62nd Tactical Airlift Squadrons, 314th Tactical Airlift Wing, Little Rock AFB, AR, who deployed on rotations in the early '70s to RAF Mildenhall and Rhein-Main AB before a C-130 unit was permanently based in Europe. Later in my career, I was the wing historian of the 374th Tactical Airlift Wing at Clark AB from 74-75 during Project SCOOT-CE, Operation EAGLE PULL, Operation FREQUENT WIND, and the recovery of the S.S. Mayaguez. I have lots of historical knowledge and an extensive photo archive as I am also a long-time photographer and scale modeler. I look forward to conversing with you all!

I had to go to a furneral close to the old Myrtle Beach AFB Wensday. We went back to the home of a relitave and were sitting in his garage whan a plane flew over. I told him it was a C-130, he said no its just some big old prop job. I got up went out and looked and it was a Herk and I tole him so. He said they do touch and goes quiet often and fly over his house in doing so. He was surprised to know I knew it by just the sound. Today on the way home we rode up highway 17 past where the old base was and saw where the houses had been torn down. That part was all grown up. It has been some time since I have been by there. I also think there is an airline using the ol…

This came around several years ago, but it's still good for a chuckle. Glenn Subject: FW: Balance in all things >Once upon a time, God was missing for six days. Eventually Michael the >archangel found him, resting on the seventh day. He inquired of God. "Where >have you been?" > >God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction, and proudly pointed downwards >through the clouds, "Look Michael, Look what I've made." > >Archangel Michael looked puzzled, and said, "What is it?" > >"It's a planet," replied God and I've put life on it. "I'm going to call it >earth and it's going to be a great place of balance" > &g…

The dangers of senior gambling trips Asenior citizens' group charters an overnight gambling casino bus trip from Tampa , Florida to Branson , MO. As they entered Missouri , an eldery woman comes up to the bus driver and says, 'I've just been molested!' The driver felt that she had fallen asleep and had a dream. So he tells her to go back to her seat, and sit down. A short time later, another old woman comes forward, and claims that she was just molested. The driver thought he had a bus load of old wackos, but who would be molesting those old ladies? About 10 minutes later, a third old lady comes up and says that she'd been molested too.. The…

This video almost makes me miss commercial flying, except for all the crap you have to put up with. Also good if you like big jets Click here: YouTube - The FE's Lament 2010 HD Another good one. In fact, check out all of Balleka's videos on YouTube. MK Airlines is a British registered 747 cargo airline owned by Mike Kruger. They were originally registered in Ghana & would only hire Rhodesians. Click here: YouTube - Balleka's Channel#p/u/6/TesxpJdZWO8 Don R. PS -- Oh, how many times have I thought "clowns to the left of me; jokers to the right."

If any of you haven't checked out this site they have some interesting things on. It is a bout the 17th TAS that was stationed in Alaska. I spent the last three years of my career there. They have a lot of interesting photographs of the runway of all the radar sites, we used to supply plus our mission to Greenland. If you do check it out please sign the guest book. To get on the webpage just type in the Firebird Association in your Google's block.

This has long been in the photo album. It brings back many memories for myself. Forgot to share it last year. This year I remembered. It was originally published in the Philippine Flyer, which was the base paper for Clark. I want to say the date it was published is either in 1975 or 1976. T'was the Night Before Christmas Adapted by Barri E. Burrows T’was the night before Christmas In my Philippine hut. Not a creature was stirring, Not even the mutt. The medyas were hung from the mesa with care In hope that St. Nicholas would soon be there. The children perspired on their open air beds, While dreams of air conditioning danced in their heads. And Ma i…

I head one of our department's teams. This coming June we are going to have a team building in some posh resort. Three days and three nights. All expenses paid by our company, of course. I've been given free hand to do whatever I think is best for my team. I've been planning our schedule, trying to come up with good games and activities, etc. Any recommendations, tips and advice on how I can give my team the best stress-free, fun and memorable team building of their lives? I'm also open to all suggestions when it comes to the games and activities? What do you think are good prizes and giveaways?

I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I feel like I know so many of you personally, and have had the real honor of meeting several of you. I guess the older we get, the more we think back about the times gone by. This morning I have my electric train, that I got in 1957, I think it was, actually runnin' under the tree. I have had it there a few times before, and have had it runnin' a few times over the years, but never under tree like it used to be when I was a kid. Don't know why this year is different, but it's cool. My question to the rest of you is..... What have you done to connect back to Christmas's long past???? Again all the se…
