What is going on with Nashville these days? I heard they were getting WCs (with the foreign training role) and sending their H2s up to Niagara. One of our crews saw a Nashville H2 on a trip a few weeks back.

Awhile back, I was telling a friend (non Air Force crew-chief type) about all of the flashlights we went through and the ones that you could hold in your mouth while using both hands for work! Then I had a memory flash of the impact lights that were on the E-Models at CCK when I got there in Mar. 1969. I think by the time I left there in 1970 they were no longer in use--at least there were none left on any of the planes I worked on especially 1804! Does anybody remember how many were supposed to be in place, and where? I do remember they were safety wired (copper) to their positions or at least the handle was! I do know that they made a decent flashlight! What do you su…

just came across this online sad, sad, sad. "Hercules plane carrying 100 crashes From correspondents in Jakarta, Indonesia | May 20, 2009 AN Indonesian military transport plane carrying 13 crew and about 96 passengers has crashed in Madiun in East Java. The number of casualties was unclear, said air force spokesman Bambang Soelistyo, but a local official told Metro TV the plane had crashed into several houses and at least two people on the ground had died. "It's completely destroyed; only the tail was left," subdistrict head Wardi told Metro TV. Mr Soelistyo said the Hercules transport plane had been flying from Jakarta to the eastern part of Java island…

Would appreciate any help with this. I know of two people in the country who can administer the FAA turbo-prop eval, the problem is that they now have to fly with you on the aircraft. Being an active duty guy, they both are not authorized on flight orders. I otherwise have no way of getting them on board one of our Hercs. Does anyone know what we\'re missing here? Is there a waiver format out there somewhere to AFI 11-401 that I can get ahold of? Pete

Which one of you lucky folks are flying the bird in the commercial? The aircraft is not the main feature of the commercial, but I thought it should be given attention. The commecial for the game is on the page. As well as some links to a FLKR set from the commercial http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/10/20/motorstorm-pacific-rift-one-week-until-the-invasion/

I watched a program last night where there were rocket engines built onto a C-130. It was built to stop in 1400\' and take off in 1800\'. When it would touch down 2 rocket engines on each side of the fusilage would act as reverse, and on take off there was a bounch of them helping it take off faster. It was to be used to rescue the hostages that were taken while carter(I think) was President. There was a video of the plane comeing in for a landing while in the testing phase. The rockets were ignited before the plane touched down and crashed. Does anyone else know anything about this?

recently introduced herky birds to a freind of mine that used to crew 40553 with the 53rd WRS. I thought he was going to shed a tear when he saw what has become of \"his\" plane. I\'m sure a lot of us will see a very unglorified demise of our favorite herks in the years to come. The lucky ones may be displayed somewhere for years to come. Certainly are worse things than ending up in a boneyard! I hope to see \"mine\" in a boneyard someday. maybe I\'ll pay her a visit. This isn\'t Herky related but, do you realize how many WWII vets are dying, everyday? Too many....for instance, the Flying Tigers (AVG), who had 300 original members, now have only 21 left. Mr. Paul Clouthier died yesterday and about two weeks ago, one of the most famous of all, died........David Lee(Tex) Hill. Whether you think of them as merely mercenaries or not, they did much for this country at a time when it was desperately needed. Rest in peace, gentlemen. You deserve it.

Can somebody verify this? Apparently the J-model uses a center wing box similar to the 1990s era H model Hercules. However, the new Rolls-Royce AE2100D3 engines create a lot more stress, so Lockheed Martin improved the CWB and started installing them in all new production Herks in FY 2009. They supposedly have a higher EBH as well (80k vs 60k). There was supposedly an offer of two early aircraft to Canada in 2009, but those were turned down because they would not match to the other 15 on order. The Canadian Forces instead waited until June for their first two aircraft, which used the new CWB.

Hi everyone. This is my first post here. I worked on this plane in 1999 and I'd like to show one job that i finished in july 2009. This is a replica of Hercules in1/144th scale.I know it's the wrong place for this post but I love this plane. This aircraft represents the C-130E that flew in the 1st Squadron of the 1st Airlift Group of the Brazilian Air Force, based in the Galeao Air Force base in the middle of the 60s. I hope you enjoy it. All the best.

This is the latest and greatest AllHerks C-130 Production List from Bob Daley. Want to know how many of each model have been produced or still flying? Where your favorite Herk is now? What deliveries of the latest C-130J have been completed? It's all available here. The file is in an Excel format, but had to be zipped due to a limitation of the forum. Windows XP and up should be able to handle it. This is probably the best Herk resource after Lars Olausson's books. All thanks to Bob, and the countless hours he spends updating it. This file is available in the Files and Documents Section http://herkybirds.com/content.php?209-files-and-documents [ATTACH]197…
