Somewhere on this site was a post about the electrical system on the A-II. Can't be of much help with that as I was an H model cc. But I did some work at Moldyhole 67-69 on the Rhine Main birds when they needed heavy maint or things like a rocket removed from the tail of a bird that was listening near Russia. The EOD guys from Lakenheath were good disarmers. The operating Sq. was the 7406th Support Sq. The book "The Price of Vigilance" gives a great description of the death of 56-0528 c/n [cn]3136[/cn] in Armenia. It is a great read, written by a former backseater in the module. During this time there were some black 130Es that were rumored to be from Ramstein. Once I Hel…

Hey, I was just channel surfing while recovering from rotator cuff surgery and stopped to watch Shockwave on the History Channel. This episode had about a 10-15 minute segment on Credible Sport. Had some nice video clips of takeoffs and of course the crash as well as computer generated graphics. This is episode #30 and will be rerun at 0100 CST.

Don't ask me where these came form, but they just popped into my head today. #1. anybody remember hearin' of a Herk, I think maybe a "B", but ain't certain, somewhere in SEA, Philippines perhaps, that had a fuel tank explosion caused, later investigation stated, by some bacteria or whatever gettin' I the tank? #2. I recall hearing about a piece of skin, possibly off a wing, that someone drew a circle in lead pencil on and corrosion caused it to disintegrate and fall out. Now I know I was juiced up yesterday with Fenegrin for an EGD, but I surely didn't dream this did I" load clear ( I think) Giz

Heard the other day that YMC-130H # 74-1686 (c/n 4669) located at Robins has had a museum express interest in acquiring the aircraft for a museum display. No word on the specific museum; just good to see something happen to it besides sitting in the elements and being used for battle damage repair practice.

I came across this website (photobucket.com) and found some pics of a C-130 crash. It looks like hill and desert terrain. The N number is N135FF with a large 82 on the tail. I cannot make out the script on the forward pilots side of the acft. I hope some one can help with information. I would like to know the model of the acft, year, company name, date and details of the crash, location, etc, survivors or not and so on.

Still working on my "history project" Boy, I'm really having a hard time finding any information on this one. Here's what I have so far: Not much information is available on 56-0512 and not many photos were found of this aircraft. The aircraft was assigned to the 118th and was listed as a “former†aircraft of the 118th in the 1986 publication From Blackwood Field to Berry Field 1921-1986. This aircraft arrived at AMARC on 20 May 1976, and was assigned the AMARC control # CF007. The AMARC database shows that this aircraft had previously been assigned to the 166th Tactical Airlift Group in Greater Wilmington. J. Baugher’s account of this aircraft is …

We just delivered 63-7848 to AMARG. Afterwards, we received a pretty cool tour of the boneyard. There is what appears to be a MC-130E with Idaho ANG markings on it. Does anyone have any info? Sorry, no tail number.

OK, it's time for my occassional request for photos of 64-0550 after it ran off the runway at NAS Naples, Italy back in the late 1970's/early 1980's. I don't think I've requested them on this "new" board and since there are a lot of new faces here (as compared to the old web site), I figured I'd try again. I know there are some photos out there as I saw them after they moved the airplane from the end of the runway to the Navy ramp. It sat there for a long time before being repaired. All I can remember is that the FE was TSgt Billy Legg & the copilot was 1Lt Bill Beale. He was making the landing and came in extremely fast. They went around, I think, & came in…

I was browsing around for C-130 pics and ran across the following site and thread: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/dave-winfields-projects/10232-c-130-ac-130-hercules-redraw-redesign-airdave-17.html Note our conversation regarding 53-3129 and the name "The Arbitrator." It appears that Lars' book and our image gallery require corrections? What say you? Casey

KC-130R Escorted to Final Flight November 21, 2008 Marine Corps News|by LCpl. Tyler J. Hlavac MARINE CORPS AIR STATION FUTENMA, OKINAWA, Japan — Aircraft lot number 160622 had a good run during its 30-year Marine Corps lifespan, but nothing, not even the KC-130R, lasts forever. Nick Dicandia experienced the beginning and the end of the craft while serving as an aircrew member aboard the final flight of the same KC-130R he served on during its maiden flight 30 years ago. Dicandia, a contract field team supervisor working for the Lockheed Martin aeronautics company, is currently assigned to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152, aboard Marine Corps Ai…

I have posted these before, but they have long since disappeared and now that there are a lot of new members on the forum, especially old Naha guys, I thought I would post them again with hopes you will find yourself or somebody you recognize in them!! These pics were taken in November 1968 ( I'm pretty sure!!). If you were in the 35th during that time you should recognize Msgt. Andy Haskell and Msgt. Galloway. (Flight Chief & 1st. Sgt.) !! I do know a lot of the names and there are some I can't remember--maybe we can help each other out and identify them all. Thanks for your help, Ken Carlson I have some more but will quit while I am ahead.

I copied this off the Air Force Magazine today Muff Thursday December 09, 2010 Little Rock's C-130E Ops Winding Down: The 314th Airlift Wing at Little Rock AFB, Ark., has only 15 C-130E transports remaining after retiring tail number 62-1788 to the boneyard at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz. This airframe, built in 1962, participated in the Tet Offensive and other major operations from 1967 to 1973 during the Vietnam War. Overall, the airlift workhorse flew 31,565.5 hours in its nearly 50-year career. Arriving at Davis-Monthan on Nov. 29, airmen will now use it for spare parts. Little Rock's remaining C-130Es are scheduled for phaseout by September 2011, as the Air For…

I was just going over an old thread, C-130 Crash at Taiwan 1965, and ran across some information that is a bit startling!. That thread mentions specifics on 4 or 5 C-130 crashes. The crew chief on the first crash listed, 64-0536, an A1C Bosnick was an aquaintance of mine. I didn't know 'til 10 minutes ago that he died in the crash of his aircraft. Rather sobering. Another on that list is 63-7878. The assistant crew chief for that aircraft (he was not with the plane on that flight) was Jim Watts, a personal friend. Jim was absolutely horrified over the loss of that plane. I don't know if he ever got over that loss. Not to mention the fact that that aircraft was the sister …

This post is another one started while laying in bed thinking about my life in the USAF and my time on the Hercules. Do you guys at Naha remember the civilian company that had a hangar right next to or near our squadron areas (at least near the 35th) ? The guys that worked there had Dyna Electron on their coveralls and they were doing some kind of TCTO an our A-Models I think! The company was based in Kansas I think, as I know a guy that was working for them at that time! I don't see him anymore, but he was one of my old gun shop customers that I got to know quite well! I guess I never did ask him what they were working on there or if I did I can't remember now!! Do a…
