  1. I had the opportunity to Engineer many flts. on 466. I was in the 440th for 25 years. Leroy Harbach was the crew chief and has passed away.
  2. Fritz thanks for the note. I also flew 466 and have seen the adds, very cool. I still see many of our main. guys and I'll get the name of the Crew chief of 466. Steve
  3. 460 ended up in the 440th in Milwaukee. Flew on it many times recorded in my form 5. Eventually ended up in the Smith.
  4. I remember sleeping on a cargo net covering 14,000# of C4. Steve H.
  5. T.W. I have had similar feelings with the people that I trained and flew with and wished I had kept in touch just to say thanks and how are you doing. They like us were and are the building blocks of today that we can share the experiences of our training to the younger gen. to keep a wonderful historic airplane flying. Steve
  6. The name sounds familiar, I joined the 440th in 78 and retired in 2002. Steve H.
  7. Hey Tinwhistle, I may have flown with your old nav. friend Steve. He was an ART with the 440th. Steve H.
  8. The 440th ALW had 1638 a roman nose that was modded with the APN 59 radar. We also had 460 that went to the Smith. 460 was what the vn general flew out of nam. Steve H.
  9. My memory serves me that it has to do with the electrical loads shifting from bus to bus during the start sequence from LSGI to normal RPM. It is non essential at this point so leave it off. Steve
  10. And thank you for serving.
  11. The two guys holding up their hands behind the last aircraft. Steve
  12. I wonder what gives on The Wounded Warrior project because Bill O'Riley is a big advocate with the motorized chairs. Steve H.
  13. George, If you are 100% disability no sweat. It's up to them to get you there and there should be no prob with billing.
  14. Bob, I can imagine, I had all four and it was still sporty.
  15. Just wondering and hope I don't sound stupid, are you doing both? Does it matter? Just thinking if CTM would make a difference from R.toL.
  16. My hat off to you and all your brother firefighters.!! Steve
  17. Giz, I had worked with trichlorethelene as a cleaning solution but not for long. Very dangerous. By mistake I cleaned my power lawn mower air filter (sponge type) and didn't let it dry and installed it in the mower. Unknown to me when I started the mower clouds of white smoke developed, It was phosgene gas, I shut down the mower and ran.!!! Steve
  18. Those shiney brass fire ex. were of the ethlene family, chobromomethlene or the triethelene both were designed to put you out rather than the fire. Steve
  19. Another check would be the fuel tank compensators. Steve
  20. Reading your message traffic, Was an electrical component or elec. maintenance done prior to the prob.? Look for compatability of parts. We had an elec prob on a H2, the gen was changed also the compatable GCU. They must match. I think your on the right track with the suppressor, that is what directly protects the digital gages. Just a thought. Steve
  21. Initial start sequence when I retired in 2002 was: Pilot stated "Clear No 3 engine": LM "No 3 Clear";Pilot"Turning 3" (after each eng. was started sequence 4,2,1.) The engineer normally called the start. "Start valve open light":"Rotation";"Fuel Flow/enrichment";"ignition";"Oil Pressure"(both engine and gear box);"Hydraulic Pressure","Parallel", "Starter"(If pilot forgets at 60%)"series"; Peak TIT observed, RPM stabilized low if LSGI was selected, buttons pulled up monitor RPM to normal G.I. Rpm. A stop start command could be called by any crewmember if any abnormality was observed or occured. Much happens during this event. Steve
  22. Yep remember it all good job men, Now here is one for you all, when the chutes were hanging in the aircraft and I had a maint. w/o I was one of the dirty guys that would work two fingers into the left side shoulder flap to reach the survival kit that had a neat little knife amoung other things. Don't worry the chutes were inspected monthly and were carried on local pro training flts.
  23. One mission I believe they sent a bomb out the back of a C-130 and it actually hit the target ship and rolled off the deck only to explode overboard. Steve
