  1. True, it's not stock at all. From what I learned talking with the radar engineers at Boeing, they were able to improve on the system quite abit since our last test flight. I don't know specifics, so I'd have to refer to those guys. All I know is, that towards the end of flight test, we were having way better luck with the system than the few flights I had on the legacy system at Duke. I certainly agree with your logistics comment too! Actually, during flight test, DTED seemed to be more...consistent. I'm sure, just like most anything, it'd take time to grow to trust something like that out in the weather & mountains at 250'. MC-Ws have the same plain 241 too. I kinda figured they'd be the first to use the TF capability, but I guess I'm wrong...again.
  2. They are until AFSOC gives them the software/hardware mods, plus the training involved.
  3. I was implying that when we were ready for night, mountainous flight, we were finished & satisfied with day testing.
  4. The 241 will TF...very nicely I might add. We were ready to take 0572 into the mountains at night for testing when AFSOC pulled the plug. It merges DTED with the active scan very well, not sure what your source is. TalonOneTF may or may not be able to validate one of us.
  5. So, I thought the "infiltrate, exfiltrate, and resupply of special forces in hostile and denied regions" was the realm of the Combat Talon?? Shadows pretty much just refuel, right? Not a prior AFSOC guy...
  6. White jet "FEs" are taxi qualified, that's about it nowadays.
  7. I remember that one, Anissa had it.
  8. Not sure about Pope's commitment & numbers, but they have 2 here at The Rock now. BTW, can anyone confirm my belief that 0419 is the one that landed at Rosey Rhodes in an unconventional manner that involved losing #4 prop & a fire?
  9. So, if you are checking this during an engine run, with all four engines on speed, the #3 pump fails with all 4 generators online? Does the pump start working when you switch the #3 generator switch off? You don't have any AC bus off indications?
  10. What I remember is that it was to be a gate guard.
  11. That sucks...I was fortunate enough to deliver her there.
  12. Hell, I thought the OKC ANG C-130 was closed up years ago! Add the one H2.75 from WY ANG at the 62nd.
  13. This was a Strike Eagle, not nearly as old as the MO bird.
  14. But, if you have GCUs, which I have no idea if you guys do or not, it doesn't matter anymore which brand you get.
  15. Victorp1 is exactly right. When I had the same identical problem as described, it turned out to simply be the electrical cannon plug at the flap control valve had not been properly installed & finally backed off enough to lose contact.
  16. Yeah, they've been posted for over a month.
  17. No, they don't. Besides, I'd rather see the money go towards a better prop. That's a bigger impact on safety by far, and much more convenient for everyone not to break.
  18. Yes, the first three were in PDM, as planned from long ago, so they are able to go into OT&E and training with a fresh calendar. They're also going to California to get some engineering changes to be brought up to the most current production configuration. We're still waiting on AMP 1 to get outta Georgia. Last I knew, they figured out the dry bay panels need to be installed PRIOR to flight (and the exceptional release), and waiting for paint. AMPs 2 & 3 are in California, with AMP 2 scheduled to return to LRF pretty soon. AMPs 4, 5 & 6 are in modification at WRAFB.
  19. Well, I've heard the same thing. Personally, I took a ride in one cross-country before they fixed the synchrophasing issue. When I got off the plane, I just felt really bad inside...really a wierd feeling I never felt before. It took a few hours for it to subside. So when I heard later from flight test folks about the same issue with other people, it made sense. Since then, they've reprogrammed the synchrophasing & supposedly fixed the problem. I never had the same problem with the NP2000. I also heard the same about AMC going all Js. That would coincide with other rumors I've heard about the 189th ramping up here at LRF....to take over all H & AMP training with the new reserve unit???
  20. There's every benefit with switching to this prop. AMC just doesn't have the $$ for it. It's up to the ANG units to get their own, eventually forcing AMC's hand....that's my hope.
  21. Those airplanes were reconfigured and sent to Pakistan in 2007-2008. I got to see it first hand.
  22. Dan, no. This is a self-contained system that works using 26 speakers installed on the flight deck. It's the same idea as the ANR headsets, just on a much bigger scale. I've never seen one yet. We're transitioning from E models here at the schoolhouse & am just trying to get a grasp on all the different possible configurations of the H2....as if that'll ever happen!
  23. 90% of the time, I would....unless I'm crossing the big water more than 10% of the time. I don't need 4 engines to fly the thing...not most of the time, anyway.
  24. Natops, I can't tell if you're answering or asking a question...but I "think" you're answering the original question. galgany, if RPM is not stable, you don't wait until "before landing"...you shut it down immediately.
  25. yeah, I can't hear much anymore either...
