Anyone out in the ABQ area or stationed at Kirtland? Trying to get a handle on the Herk ground trainers there. Last time I was there almost 2 years ago, there was an E model and a fuselage behind the Combat Rescue School I think these may be 63-7777, the fuselage, and 64-0521 There was an ex USCG, later USAF Herk in a Hangar used as a ground trainer, 67-7185 There appears to be two herks next to the Northern most hangar off Aberdeen Ave. They may be 64-0559, a fuselage, and 69-5829. Can anyone verify them for us? I have a trip out there but not until October. Thanks Bob

Saw some pics of the Algerian C130 that crashed not long ago, impressive. Really liked the shot of the MLG ballscrew that was snapped off, shot through the ww pod, and ended up with the detatched wing tip. Also the associated shelf bracket that was snapped in half. Ouch.

X-AF 130 guy would like to know what does the letters in VMGR actually stand for, or is it just a alphabetized designator for marine airlift and or re-fueler 130 squadrons? And thanks in advance.

I don't know if I should laugh or be amazed.A fellow on the crew chief site said he was on a C-130E that was at 61K doing HALO drops.I questioned it and he affirmed that was what he said.I spent quite a few years on Herks,The best altitude I was ever at on one was during Apollo13 support off of Samoa we were at 37500.and literally hanging on the props.Anyone ever seen 61k in a C-130?

In an August update at AMARG noticed, 64-0499-probably beer cans- and 65-0979- an NC-130H are no longer listed. Also it looks like the sale of 6 USMC KC-130R's to Japan is going ahead. 160015 is no longer listed and 160016, 017, 018,020 are no longer in storage. Bob AMARG_Inventory_08.pdf
