The Air America thread had a link to a page on their site. I looked at the PDF and a few things stuck out. One of them was the use of the 374 TAW. This rung a bell in my head. I went over to a big file that my mother for some reason has held onto all these years. It is a file folder full of every special order, PCS, TDY and any paperwork relating to awards or service. There are a few "request for Autorization for change of administrative orders" that have the "relating to" marked as "gain unit classified" as well as the back side with a list of individuals and their clearances. In the field titled "remarks" is a series of numbers. Question: Is there a way I can find…

Hercules to airlift Gorgon materials Chris Thomson August 17, 2009 - 6:33AM A civilian variant of the leviathan Hercules aircraft will be employed to airlift building materials to Chevron's massive Gorgon gas project off Barrow Island in Western Australia's north. Newly formed company Stallion Aviation has asked the Shire of Roebourne to let it fly a Lockheed 382 aircraft, the civilian variant of the C-130 Hercules, from Karratha Airport to Barrow Island from December this year. Chevron Corporation has contracted Stallion to conduct the 18-month Hercules airlift during the LNG plant's construction phase. The aircraft is a crucial part of the operation,…

You guys will get a kick out of this. Wife (of 38 yrs) and I are driving up the road and I'm discussing the upcoming C-130 convention at Robbins. After a few minutes she says to me: "I wish you would talk to me as romantically as you talk about that airplane!" I think she was only partly kidding........Chris

I was wondering if PACAF will replace their current H model C-130s with newer airplanes?. I ran into a 36th AS crewmember in 2009 who stated his unit was slated to receive Js,but with funding cuts, this has not so far happened. Maybe if a C-130J unit is disbanding at Little Rock, the displaced airplanes will replace the 1970s era C-130Hs at Yokota?.

I was lucky enough to meet Bobby Dugger and this great aircraft this weekend and began to wonder what she looked like in those Vietnam days. I have a C-130 kit (the Italeri H version) and was thinking of building it to reflect the aircraft from that harrowing mission. Can anyone help with info or pictures? Many thanks in advance! http://parkflyerplastics.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=503

I just got back from AATTC where there was a Belgian 130 and a German C-160. The Germans seemed to know what they were doing, but since it wasn\'t a herk I\'m not familiar with the airframe. With the Belgians I could tell what they were doing. They run things more like our Navy, where they have airframe, powerplant, and avionics people. They don\'t have a zillion backshop specialists like the Air Force does. I watched two of their people change a pair of nose tires faster than I could even get the required TO\'s together. While the herks were out flying we talked about the planes and they seem to really know their stuff. They said there are now only 10 herks in the…

I watched the new movie World War Z the other day. In the movie Brad Pitt hitches a ride from a aircraft carrier on a C-130, as it's taking off it's a AN-12. Through out the movie the C-130 scene jumps back and forth between the two aircraft. I guess they need to fire the mil advisor.

I would like to get in touch with any engineers or aircrew who have had experience working with the Yemeni C-130\'s or Crew, either in Yemen or RSAF when were seviced there. Heard a lot about you guys from the oldtimers here, especially Brit aircrews. Also interested in hearing about any stories from the guys and girls who passed through Muscat during the Gulf wars about the Brit 130 hangar at Seeb airport. We were glad to be of service. Any tales about what you got up to at Thumrait or Masirah will be appreciated. To all C-130 people, Keep them flying and nice one. Take care.

They have two. Anyone knows which one was involved ? Thx. /ATDB 18 November 2010, SANAA — A Yemeni military C-130 ran off the runway on Thursday at the Sanaa airport, causing a fire in one engine but no casualties, said the head of the Yemeni civil aviation authority, Hamad Faraj. The plane, which was arriving from Amman, left the runway and slid on one of its wings, causing a fire that was quickly extinguished, Faraj was quoted by the official Saba news as saying. The airport was temporarily closed, he said, without revealing what the aircraft was carrying. Civil aviation and the Yemeni air force have opened a joint investigation into the circumstan…
