APU puzzle

APU came from overhaul, ran through test cell - all good. Installed on aircraft, bleed air on, but no load, there is a 5 - 10psi pressure surge, small EGT and RPM flux. When a load is applied (eg aircon pack), it stabilizes. Removed and sent to test cell, again nothing could be found. Installed on another aircraft, has the same problem. Replaced the load control valve, but still the same. Anyone have any ideas ...??

Good afternoon all, I'm having a problem with the C-130J APU. Every time we place the APU control switch to run the APU begins to start, the EGT and RPMs start to rise. Been checking all the relays and such not finding anything. Anybody seen this before?

We are using the HF ARC-190 system with an RT-1341. The system works as advertised, but when we initiated an self test we get R/T FAULT in the display and the system does not work anymore, until we cleare the fault. After clearing the fault the system works fine. My question is: Does more operators have is problem or is there everytime an wrong return of the testsignal? I hope that someone can help me with this. Raymond

Strange, I came here to ask for help, and found a different post with part of my question. --So we have a MC-130 with a vor issue. it's not working right. very long story short (day 10) both our vor 1 &2 cut out in 357 to 358 degrees range while turning the course knob on the hsi. the fail nav flag comes in view.--no it's not a loss of signal, and I've r/r receivers, flight director's computer, hsi, adi, bdh'si, Auto pilot processor, swapped out the whole nirp panel, and more. We've done a direct connect with the test set-so the antenna is eliminated as an possibility. We've disconnected just about everything.. none of our other aircraft have this dead spot. ha…

ATM GEN OUT LIGHT, FREQS VOLTS LOAD OK. Gen contactor/GCP changed...any ideas?

Struggling with an ongoing ATM gen problem. Getting good freqs good volts. Turn ATM gen to on gen out light does not come on but the ESS bus off lite stays on and all systems requiring 3 phase power do not work. The single phase AC items on bus do work. AC instrument fuel control bus works and Elevator trim works. We have changed contactor, generator, GCP, and voltage regulator multiple times with no luck. Anyone seen this?? Thanks

I have an ATM generator system that when running off of GTC bleed air, will not hold online past the initial spike of the Aux Pump being turned on. If I apply bleed air from a running engine, the ATM generator will hold the AUX pump just fine. So I guess my question is, is there a minimum air pressure output from the GTC that is required by any tech data? I've adjusted the air pressure regulator on the GTC to MAX out the output, but I'm still only getting 35-40psi from the GTC. Thanks for giving this a read... Side note: ATM system is basically brand new. List of changed parts: ATM ATM generator ATM fan GCP Voltage regulator Freq sensing relay Load cont…

I've got a problem with atm genetator system popping 2 phase A c/b's on the upper main @245 and from that the domino affect of the ess bus middle breaker on phase A pop, aux pump phase b and c. Good freqs and volts on the gen with no greater load than .5 on the meter, all four engines are in lsgi . The gen never drops off line.I have good ac volts on all 3 phases but on terminal A+ I only have 10vdc and as I load up the essential bus I see my voltage increase and it never gets higher than 17vdc. Per the wiring diagram I'm supposed to have a constant 28vdc. The volt reg was changed for phase c term stud broken, gcp changed for failed op check and atm gen just got replaced.…

Will not give you cash after proper pin number. But seriously ATM kicks off line during #1 engine start. Lost volts, freqs, and load. Tried to reset but still no volts freqs or volts. This is for E&E any help would be cool

Guys, What is the pressure between the speed controller on the ATM and the modulating valve telling the valve to open and close to keep the 43.000 RPM. We know that the pressure between the inline filter and the ATM speed controller is 50-55 PSI. Thanks in advance Bonzo

we have a problemon an ac-130h that we have been unable to solve for a while. when you have any power source on but our atm generator the aux pump will come online fine, if the aux is already running the atm will run with no problem but if you have ATM online when you turn on aux pump it drops down to 350 htz and goes off line we have changed almost all components that apply. currently we are changing our aux pump relay due to our supervision the only thing that is strange is that we are getting 30 ampres higher than our other aircraft if anyone has any tricks that would help us please let me know

I am a medically retired Marine that is working on a book, that uses a Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules as a primary method of transportation for a special operations team. Despite having ridden in, and jumped out of, quite a few C-130's I know enough to know, that I don't know anything about them! Obviously, I am trying to portray the use of the plane and its components in the most accurate light possible, and have some small questions that are honestly probably too unimportant to post here. So, if anyone out there has experience with the model, and wouldn't mind talking shop with someone that knows absolutely nothing about the subject... please mess…

I and trying to troubleshoot a pre 85 bird with AP-105 and FD-109 systems. The issue is that with INS as a vertical reference and autopilot engaged both control wheels will experience a frequent uncommanded movement left and right in a shuddering fashion. It doesnt move a lot but it will go from steady and smooth to rapid shudders in the blink of an eye. With VG as a vertical reference it mainly functions correctly but will radomly experience a sharp and rapid right hard-over. This is with AP coupled regardless of pilot or copilot side or uncoupled with AP engaged and in both HDG or NAV selected. So far we have changed several AP AMPS, Aileron servo motor, Aileron dru…

AT LEVEL FLIGHT WITH ALT HOLD AND NAV LOC ARMED, COMMAND BARS PITCH DOWN 5 DEG AND AIRCRAFT FOLLOWS. SYSTEM WORKS 4.0 ON COPILOT SIDE. WHAT DO YOU THINK? WE HAVE A BRAND NEW FLIGHT COMPUTER. BAD ADC? BY THE WAY WE HAVE A C-130T.

C130 autopilot engages but doesn't couple. Coupler/controller, amplifier and servo motor replaced but discrepancy persists. Anyone with any idea to solve this problem? Thanks.
