Does anyone have a mini-TOLD card electronically that they can send me? I lost mine when the laptop failed to feather one night. My hard copies are getting fairly used and I would like to make some new ones. Thanks, Greg

Nigeria to spend 150b naira to refurbish military planes Abuja, Nigeria - Nigeria\'s federal government has earmarked 150 billion naira to refurbish military planes grounded by years of neglect, according to Defence Minister Yayale Ahmed (125 naira=US$1). The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) will spend the money to bring back to service five C-130 Hercules Transport planes as well as fighter and trainer jets, the Minister said. I was recently looking at some of my old Air Force memorabilia, and ran across this handy item that somehow moved from my mesh survival vest to my personal belongings. I acquired it while flying Blind Bat missions at Ubon in 1968! I know most of you guys know what it is, but what I really need to know is if any of you know where I can find the other components to make this work!!! It seems I used them all up one New Years Eve. at a friends apartment just outside the back gate at Naha. Are they still in use? Thanks for your replies, Ken

They had a bittersweet party Sunday at Kulis Air National Guard Base in Anchorage. Guard members and their families toured planes and helicopters, posed for pictures with big guns, ate huge amounts of food including hamburgers, hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn and ice cream sundaes, visited the beer garden, listened to music. It was the annual Family Day event, kind of a mini-state fair with face painting, crazy hairdos, and games of chance and skill. But this year, it was also a big goodbye party. The Guard's 176th Wing is leaving Kulis, its home off Raspberry Road for more than 55 years, and moving across town to new quarters on Elmendorf Air Force Base. Som…

This was over on the FB page I know. But I really have to say something http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?storyID=123261516 I do not think there has been a day without hearing that specific drone in the sky. The couple of times when I have been driving in town, I have seen them come in and then go out. They have been going non-stop.

Did anyone happen to catch the last episode of "Covert Affairs"??? If the name don't ring a bell. It's a Summer Series on the USA Network. Plot and such don't really mater here. In the episode "Half Way Around the World" There is a C-130. The glaring error I seen was the CIA agent "snuck" on the aircraft via the Nose Wheel Well. Guy was a tad big to fit through the NLG window, not to mention all the crap right there. Any way It was a civilian painted C-130. White with Navy blue stripe The vertical was navy blue with with thing white vertical stripes(maybe 6 or 7) at the bottom of the vertical. Anybody have any idea who it was? Only thing that comes to mind are…

Here is the latest from those "NO CLUE" civilians in Washington who needs an enemy when we have these folks! Muff the Air Force will: Eliminate 123 fighters (102 A-10s and 21 older F-16s), 133 mobility aircraft (27 C-5As, 21 C-27s, 65 C-130s, and 20 KC-135s), and 30 intelligence platforms (18 Global Hawk Block 30s, 11 RC-26s, and one E-8). Trim the Total Force by 9,900 airmen, building upon the reductions of 48,000 personnel since 2004. Terminate or restructure programs like the B-2 extremely high-frequency radio improvements and the family of advanced beyond line of sight terminals. Replace "expensive programs" like the C-130 Avionics Modernization Program "with…

Our General confirmed what we thought was just a rumor. Since Pope already has hangers built for the J, the AF is planning on taking the J-s that were going to Dobbins and ship them to us at KPOB and send our H2's to Dobbins. He sad it just has to get approved by congress. They said it would save a lot of money since they would not have to build anymore buildings. Anybody else hear anything about this?

While stationed at Clark AB, Philippines (Jan '68 - Nov 72) I remember watching a C-130 make an emergency landing. It was a perfect langing with a missing main gear on one side. Runway foamed and everything. Damage from the landing was absolute minimum. It seems all the major damage was done while the plane was doing touch-and-gos at Cubi Point in Subic Bay. The ends of the runways have seawalls and when the pilot come in low he left a main gear hanging on that seawall. While getting my flying time in while stationed at Dyess AFB (was on maint. flying status for the autopilot shop) I was on a C-130 flying local touch-and-gos on the rough strip parallel to the ma…

For all who were in Bangkok from 65-66. How many remember the Federal Hotel? In Dec 1965 I was there and staying around the Hotel the days we didn't fly we spent all day at the pool. Some would jump from the top of the Hotel into the pool. Jumping from the side into the pool was referred to as TAC Ledge, then the PACAF guys came in and jumped from the end over the diving board (very close to hitting it) referred to it as PACAF Ledge. I know we were young and dumb. One day our Capt noticed that someone had placed a teakwood boat just outside of the pool. WE all got together and put it over the fence, to check out and make sure it floated. This went on for about an …

As a retired FE (military & commercial), I have a lot of time on my hands & am easily amused. One of my daily rituals is to come visit this forum. The last thing I do before signing off is to check any new member's profile. If I'm the first there, I feel I've accomplished something for that day. For those of you who don't check members' profiles, you probably have no idea what I'm talking about. For those of you that do (Larry, Sonny, Mt crewchief, etc), you know exactly what I'm talking about, right? Don R.

No load from Danang to TSN at the end of a crew day...Minimum fuel....Lets see how high we can get it... I had the best A/C on my crew that ever sat in the pilot seat.....He shall remain nameless however we got up to 36,500 feet with an empty plane and minimum fuel....It was a record at the time. Wondering if anybody beat it in an E Model... This was after take off at Da Nang where he got to 50 feet off the ground, cleaned it up and we were going about 250 knots as we crossed the end of the runway. He yanked the yoke in his lap and did a hard bank to the left and pulled off a wing over.....The tower just said...."Spare 223" that was pretty cool and good night.... …

Hello - My name is Ernie White, a member of the McChord Air Museum Foundation. A few weeks ago we rolled out our C-130 (62-1789) c/n [cn]3736[/cn] from the McChord Field Paint Hangar re-dressed as s/n 63-7788 as she looked while assigned to the 36th TAS at McChord in 1978. The new 7788 has been restored inside and out backdating her with a SEA paint scheme. Please visit our webpage http://www.mcchordairmuseum.org to read the restoration story and pictures. Thanks !
