I'm brand new to this forum and work in a T56/501 test cell. We have an EIDS panel and we cal our HP & Torque to a value that was told to us when the the cell was new and has "always been done this way". But now the question has arisin' asking what is the "book proceedure" which we don't have. Does anyone out there have a written proceedure they can share for calibration of Torque on the EIDS system. Or what T.O. I could find the info in. Attached is a photo of our panel. Thanks, DM

I know a lot of you guys read Lockheed Martin's Service News magazine, which dates all the way back to 1974. The company stopped publishing new volumes in 2005, despite several attempts to restart it. Meanwhile, I've found the entire archive which dates back to the start. There's a lot of good stuff in there, and some of the last articles on Center Wing and Outer Wing history and replacement were pretty good. http://www.lockheedmartin.com/ams/ServiceNewsMagazine.html There's also an Index in Excel format: http://www.lockheedmartin.com/data/assets/service_news_magazines/Service_News_Subject_Index.xls

Once upon a time; While initiating cruising speed at level 220 engine no.1 rpm started dropping to 97%, shifting to mechanical governing the rpm further dropped to 96%. In flight pitchlock check procedure carried out as stated on section 3 of dash one, by moving the affected engine throttle “forward†while maintaining constant TAS, the result was no increase of RPM and no change of power (fuel,TIT, and torque) the pilot elect to shutdown the effected engine. After three engine safe landing, the effected engine statically checked …… the only abnormality was “oil “ dripping from fuel control drain line!!!!! In ground check during the start, the effected…

Hello everyone, I have a question. Who's making your com-cords? We have MC-130 with that Noise reduction system. (no one is using) so my com-cords are a bit harder to make. Is anyone buying pre made one? or getting them straight from a vendor? I've been able to buys some that don't have the noise reduction connector installed. But since we have the system I'm trying to make sure we the capability to use the noise reduction if needed. If you don't know what I'm referring to when i say noise reduction, it's got an extra plug part at the end of the ics cord, which is power for the noise reduction system./ this option s used with special headsets.- like bowes noise can…

Hi Guys. Can anybody help me out with some part numbers i can't find in my IPC? Whilst enjoying a very pleasant flight yesterday NO.2 engine decided to dump all the engine oil in a very short time. When we got back i found that the adapter for the oil return pipe joining the accesory gearbox to the external scavenge pump had sheared in half. I need the part numbers for the oil pipe and the adapter. Also, when i went to borrow the parts from the grounded aircraft i found that some engines have an adapter that looks the same from the outside but has an oversize thread that screws into the gearbox. The YAF want to know why. Is it because of a different manufacturer for the g…

Avionics/radio & radar guys, have you experience this defect before? C-130H, equipped with radio low range altimeter AL-101 (interfaces with GPWS, FCS-105, and TCAS) Whenever the “CAN DO†hits the 300 AGL the “OFF FLAG†of Radio Alt. appears accompanied with failure of the other related system mentioned above. Yet, unfortunately I am out of proper test equipment. Voltage and continuity checks, done. Doesn’t show any abnormality. Radio Alt. R/T changed. Radio alt. indicator changed. Still the bird behaving the same, above 300 feet flag “ON†below 300 feet back to normal operation. Can I go for the antennas, and which one? Any suggestions to…

**The message below was sent to me from one of our departments, any help will b e appreciated...** 3842360-1 In the end of the assembly our Engineering detected that to install this material we need a Torsion Shaft (we don't know the PN). The assembly was made in accordance with the attached document: "Wheel and Shaft Assembly (Shaft Repair) due to damage or abnormal wear to internal spline area of shaft": "Install plug to depth shown. Identify wheel and shaft assembly by adding (-789) below the part number etched on the shaft. NOTE: It will be necessary to use a shortened torsion shaft in place of existing shaft at final assembly on the engine if the prec…

This bird has had this problem come back a few times - not repeat/recur though. Basically, the props wont sync with No. 3 selected as master. Replaced valve housing, no fix. Repalced synchrophaser, no fix. Shot wires on sync rack - all are good. Shot all pins on all plugs on valve housing, tach gen, and pulse gen, and all are good. The last time this happened we found wires in the wrong spots on the terminal board on the electrical rack (TB1C, I believe). After we fixed that, it op checked good. This was a month or two ago. Now the problem has returned. Engine shop replaced the syncrophaser and now they're telling us the problem has gotten worse - it won't sync at all…

I have an on-going problem with the ice detection system switching it itself on in no icing conditions. I've swapped out everything in the system now and all wiring checks are good. The only spare ice detectors i have access to are coming from an aircraft where the system is known not to have worked in some time. In order to order new detectors i need to prove my current ones are unserviceable. Is there any bench check with a multimeter i can carry out to check the serviceability of ice detectors?

We have some #3 engines on different aircrafts that start slow. At a 83F temp, the GTC will start the #3 and come on speed (72%RPM) in 65 seconds. At 102F it will start and come on speed in 76 seconds. The engines are pulling 99% max power efficiency and have known new starters and control valves. The GTC's are putting out from 36 to 39PSI. The blade angles are all set to the low side and are all having 800TIT starts. The problem has been pointing towards the heat here in Arizona and a 2700 ft elevation. Does anyone have an idea how to get the starts down below 70 seconds?
