I read through the P-model -1 last night (slow night) and there was a note about the NESA windows that they are stronger with NESA turned on during flight. I never heard of this and hoped someone knew why this would be. I'm stumped on it.

OK, I'm stumped: USAF users are told the landing gear extension/retraction limit is 165 KIAS. So why does the placard behind the yoke say 168 KIAS?

How the RPM can be increased/decreased in (G/I, Top of Beta) and on (F/I with low pitch stop engaged)? Which adjustment will do the task without much upsetting the torque? Is it blade angle adjustment? Is it null orifice adjustment, is it fuel control linkage adjustment, is it throttle rigging adjustment? And is there any adjustment in the FCU to correct the case? Is repositioning the low pitch stop will affect the RPM in F/I position? Some time I need only 1% RPM adjustment to be a way from minimum limit to avoid flying crew write-up. Need your help/experience on that.

I'm looking for an installation drawing to build up and old "pip" connnector style Aux Fuel Qty harness for a C-130E, 1963 model. The aircraft missed the tank modification for the terminal type connections and has an older style harness that is not in the JEDMIX that we can find. We are trying to prevent a couple days extra down-time to use the old harness as a template, so all we need is the lengths of the cables to build one up prior to going in tank. Any info would be appreciated!

We maintain the analog systems on a 62-model E and 64-66 model HC-130Ps, and fuel quantity is our #1 issue. I'm putting together a fuel quantity training box that we can hook into an aircraft and simulate open signal lines, open compensators, etc. One of the guys came up with an idea to put a variable resistor in-line from shield to ground to simulate bad solder joints, corrosion and whatnot. Does anyone have an idea about how much resistance to ground it would take to start interfering with indication? While I'm at it, does anyone have any good sources of info on the F/Q system as a whole? The tech data is...well, it's tech data. Thanks!

I went up to my old unit (130th) and the engineers were telling me about the eight blade props and electronic valve housing. Sounds good BUT what happens with the new valve housings after a lightning strike?
