How is it going? I work at the depot and we are have a issue that has stumped us so I'm hoping someone out there has had this issue before. On a 65 model our temp control wants to migrate back to cool when pressurizing in manual while driving hot. We have changed the temp control valve, flow control, thermostats, control boxes, and pressure controller but nothing seems to fix this problem. We can only get to three inhg on the ground. The electrics shop has shot the wires and says they are good. We put a 240 degree thermostat in the unit and the unit wouldn't drive hot so we tried it with the thermostat still hooked up but pulled out of the unit and it drove hot. The engin…

Good morning! We have a P model here that has a recurring porpoising issue with its AN/AYW-1 Autopilot. This aircraft has had a history of this for several years and in that time the elevator servo has been changed several times, numerous processors, air data sensor has been changed a couple of times, cable tensions checked/adjusted to the elevator servo, and at least two elevator boost packs. We have wrung the wiring out multiple times and also checked all the grounds for corrosion/paint, since another unit had a similar problem caused by painted-over grounds. The elevator trim relays were changed before the aircraft went into depot last year and the aircraft flew g…

Hi Everyone, We have applied for a Technical Order for a C-130 Heater Assembly, and have been told that this Manual is now Rescinded. Does this mean that the last updated copy of the T.O. can no longer be used?, or does it just mean that this Manual is no longer in Print? Can anyone help me with the confusion. Thanks.

I know that they are retracted by prop oil pressure, and that it takes 240-260 psi to retract them, but what causes the pressure to build to that level? (or keeps it from building to that level when you don't want it to?) My previous ride, the DC-6 had Hamilton Standards which had a very similar low pitch stop, but on that plane, the standard unaided governor pressure wasn't enough to retract the stops, you had to have higher Px oil from the electric feather pump, which was switched on when you pulled the throttles into reverse range. . No feather pump, no reverse. On the Herc, it seems (and maybe I'm missing something ) that the standard prop oil px is enough to…

While here at IP school, we visited the FTD (where they train mx how to fix planes without taking them to the flightline). Anyway, at the flight control section, one of my classmates pointed these latches/loops on the vertical stab. We asked around, but no one knows. Any idea?

Anybody got the part numbers for a full cable set for either a GTF-6 or TF20-1A fuel qauntity test set? Somebody here has made off with all the cables for all the test sets. My T.O. says to locally manufacture, but that is not going to be possible in Yemen. Many thanks.

I have asked to look into some weather radar problems. I am no radar expert but i assume that having your aircraft 'upgraded' with a bendix/king RDR 2100 weather radar is not normally done. If anybody else has this fit pls let me know. I am also looking for justification on why this fit should be removed so any technical information from an expert will be most appreciated. Many thanks.

Can anyone tell me if the Honeywell Temperature Control Valve Part No: 398648-2-1 is listed in the latest revision of T.O.15A2-3-89-3 Dated 2004? We have copy of the Technical Order Dated 1 Feb 1987 but it does not list this Part Number, only the 398648-1-1 and 398548-1-2 Also we have tried to Purchase an up to date T.O from Newport but unfortunately they do not recognise this Part Number either. We have Contacted Honeywell but they could only tell us that this type of Control Valve has a different type of Actuator & Motor Assembly. Does anyone have any ideas where I may be able to obtain a copy of the Technical Data for this Control Valve. Any help would be …

Guys of the herks, need your help in this issue: Is there any book reference, idea, or experience for power stabilization time limit during fast open power-touch & go-? for I am having some engines(T56-A-15) during fast open power hesitate/lag for a moment (3-4 seconds) then back up with other engines, (hesitation taking place in some cases as momentarily cycling of TIT, TP, and somehow stagnation of fuel). RPM in some cases hits the 104% then stabilized within the above mentioned time. Cross-over correction during run-up check of some effected engine found to be 30⁰C cut back. Flying crew advised to lock the TD and check engine behavior. Done, a little …
