Hey guys My topic is a follow on of this discussion. Over the last several months we have had a large number of TD related problems. Some have been fixed by the usual TD am or valve change, or just a careful yellow box. Many have either been sent to me in the test cell, or I have spotted enough of a disparity to warrent further investigation. The most common failing is a high take off TIT in AUTO, with a lean fuel control. I like to set SLOPE and NORMAL at 1075°C and take things from there. As long as TIT doesnt exceed 1083°C we're good to go. Normally a new amp or a bit of careful tweeking of the NULL orifice and the CIT can b…

Hello, has anyone ever experienced not being able to cal the Torque gauge at LSGI? the issue is with a 78 model -15 we have a gauge that reads 1000 Lbs higher at LSGI then the others.I know normal is around 700 but we are 1000 Lbs higher but here is the strange thing FF/RPM/TIT are all normal. We have changed the gauge with a known new one and also changed the pick up with a known new one that was resistance checked prior to installing it and the shimming was also checked as good.We even changed the valve housing thinking it wasn't holding. Any suggestions

I'm brand new to this forum and work in a T56/501 test cell. We have an EIDS panel and we cal our HP & Torque to a value that was told to us when the the cell was new and has "always been done this way". But now the question has arisin' asking what is the "book proceedure" which we don't have. Does anyone out there have a written proceedure they can share for calibration of Torque on the EIDS system. Or what T.O. I could find the info in. Attached is a photo of our panel. Thanks, DM

WC-130h PRT AF Hi everyone pls help As to start calibrating the torque indicator it indicates aprox. -800lbs. After reseting to the 29850lbs with cal A with -4000lbs and cal B with 25850lbs still with neg torque all checks done and recheck wiring , gapping and so on. To put positive torque cal A must have -2340lbs and cal B 27200, by the way it torquemeter has 27540lbs from back shop. Are these values normal for service?

New to the site... Working for Lockheed Martin and I have a basic question on the torque indication for the -15 engines.... We accomplished a flight test recently and we had recorded the electrical signal off of the torque assembly and converted it to a Torque indication based on an equation supplied by Marietta.. What we found was the instrument always read about 10% on the top end less than our recorded value.. My question is has anyone done a digital vs mechanical inspection to see how accurate the mechanical gauge is as a digital one.. Also how accurate is the calibration to these instruments (how close are they to what we think is the right number).. I've see…

Hey all. I was wondering if anyone out there could share how you do a torque meter runout on an EIDS setup. We have just got our H30 models upgraded to the EIDS and there are no instructions for doing this procedure. Any help would be graetlt apreciated.

The T.O. states CAUTION "Airplane must not be moved while the torque strut is removed. Severe structural damage to the landing gear struts and fuselage may occur". To me that would mean do not tow the airplane of course. We have a few individuals that say you can't have any other maintenance going on while the torque strut is removed. No going on top of the plane because this could cause the plane to move. Does anyone know to what extent the "Airplane must not be moved, caution" goes?

Greetings all, I am currently employed as an instructor for the US Navy. I teach the T56-A-14's (same thing, except your guys' motor is upside down...haha), just kidding... One of my students asked a question today in class that I didn't have an answer for: "Why does the torquemeter have 40 exciter teeth, and does it have anything to do with the 0.040" gap between the pole pieces of the torquemeter pickup?" I referenced my Rolls Royce manual and all my literature from years past but to no avail. Anyone know?
