Does anyone have an idea of the flap angles corresponding to flap settings in percentage? For example, what is the flap angle for a 20%, 50% and 100% flap setting? The angle should be relative to either the root wing chord or the Water Line of the aircraft. Also, what is the gap or spacing between the flap and wing for each of the flap settings? I cannot find this information in any of the TOs for the H or J model. Are the flaps the same for all the C-130 models? thanks, TA

I did it today and a lot of the guys got a real kick out of it. - Pressurize the A/C to around 6 inMg (we were doing a drop check) - Find a roll of toilet paper or paper towel - Put a ratchet, or pen through the roll so it can spin freely - Open up the old Sextant attachment point and hold the roll close to the hole (The attachment point is essentially a 6 inch diameter hole in the plane next to the crew door jettison handle) - What happens is that the A/C pressure sucks the entire roll through the hole out of the top of the airplane to about 15-20 feet straight in the air Here in Canada we call it the "Big Grey Whale" :D

When the pilots did a normal banking, all engine indicators wind down, with all flight instruments OFF flag in view for 1 sec for a few times in flight. This sounds like an ESS Bus problem for my C130H. However, i cannot find the fault and it happened again! Why did not the Generator Line Connector Switch seamlessly for this case? What could be the problems?

Equipment I am talking about is AN/ARC 190 HF Antenna coupler P/N 622-7375-002 from Rockwell Collins. There is an NRV on the front of the equipment, looks like a nitrogen fill port. What for it is used? The Job Guide says nothing about it.

Ballast Fuel

Brothers, I am putting together a NATOPS change to include an easy to understand definition of \"Ballast Fuel\". Our NATOPS does not mention it at all. This has been a source of much debate and a soure of confusion to trainees. I am a Little Rock trained FE and was trained on this. The new trainees are not being tought TOLD data the same. My understanding is to use the Fuel Management charts to find the required landing fuel in the wings for a specific cargo weight. Then to get your g load factor and max airspeed. Which is usually only a factor in the decent. I understand that this is usually only a consideration over approx. 30k cargo. Further, my unders…

A number of RGB's have failed due to quite a handsome size of metal chunks detected by magnetic drain plugs..what could be the possible reasons for this cause... oil used is 23699 and is changed properly. Propeller dynamic balancing is also done properly. engine used is T-56-A-15 unable to find a good reason for these overhauled RGB's.

Having a problem finding a bleed air leak within the nacelle when the engine (-15) is in reverse for a slightly longer period of time then normal. Felt around each clamp the best I could with the engine running with no joy. The problem with that is you can't hear the leak for obvious reasons and it is quite the challenge to feel the leak with all the air blowing around you. I am all out of ideas on how to troubleshoot. Any ideas or past experiences with this issue is greatly appreciated!

Have a prop on a -16 that will not pitchlock. Prior to us getting the plane for ballistic foam install, the squadron had the same problem. They changed pitchlock reg., valve housing, then the gearbox sh*t the bed and the prop was seized on the shaft so they r2\'d the tq meter, gearbox, prop/dome. Sooo. They had a good pitchlock after all of that...once...so it could get here. We have tried all manner and techniques IAW pubs, and otherwise without success. It will overspeed without a problem, but does not even think about locking. Re-Indexed about 6 times (1x=2 then 3 master). Tried getting low/ref tq at about 97% then going to 1077 before locking and hitting g…

Does anyone know the criteria for inspection on MLG wheel bearings? T.O. 44B-1-3 lists all the criteria for inspecting used bearings, what if the bearing is new, in the package. Can the bearing just be cleaned, packed with grease and installed, or must it be run through the whole rigamorole of a used bearing?

Can anyone out there tell me exactly where the pyrotechnics are located at on a HC-130P(King)? The reason that I am asking is because I have been tasked with doing an operational check on the pyro system and the only thing that I can come up with is the flare launch tubes. If I am wrong on this please let me know. Thanks for everyones help on this.
