Gray Eagles: The gathering of Mustangs and Legends "The final roundup" This is a great film narrated by Peter Coyote. If you got a half hour to spare its definitely one to watch. http://crabbyoldfart.wordpress.com/ While I am not that old - I do appreciate and pretty much agree to most of the things presented. I have been reading this blog for a while now and am still not sure if the individual is real. Having to press ANYTHING for customer service sets me right off.

I just read a blub on Military.com about our cannon boys failing to refuel a -8 resulting in the -8 crashing. Was this the Wombats? If so when did we become fixed wing certified? Does anybody know anything more about this? Dan http://www.military.com/news/article/report-failure-to-refuel-caused-crash.html?wh=news&ESRC=airforce-a.nl

I get this newsletter from some guy in the Phillipines who keeps up with retiree/VA issues. Apparently there was some Seniors survey that was tracking SSA decreases for this year. That might be a bonus as it seem there may be some emergency legislation to get a retiree pay increase for this year.

B-25 Stuff

I just inherited some of my Father-in-laws books on the B-25. Got an Allison operators manual, A pilots information file and his tec manual. I knew he was on Guam durning WW11 and was an aircraft mechanic, but we never talked much about it. I think he got out about 1945, the year me and his oldest daughter were born. Yep I got the little sister born in 1947. He passed away 25 years ago. His wife kept this stuff since his death and she passed away on Easter Sunday. I was happy to get these books.

For those who haven't seen this... DRILL PRESS: A tall upright machine useful for suddenly snatching flat metal bar stock out of your hands so that it smacks you in the chest and flings your beer across the room, denting the freshly-painted project which you had carefully set in the corner where nothing could get to it. WIRE WHEEL: Cleans paint off bolts and then throws them somewhere under the workbench with the speed of light. Also removes fingerprints and hard-earned calluses from fingers in about the time it takes you to say, "Oh, shit!"... See More SKILL SAW: A portable cutting tool used to make studs too short. PLIERS: Used to round off bolt h…

Okay guys, what are the most spectacular bad bombs (airdrops from hell) you have either had a hand in or personally know of. I put it in OT because there are folks here that have dropped stuff in planes other than the Herk. I think the most spectacular one I personally know of was at Rhine Main in 1989. I think (ugh) Duke Bender was the AC, it was a triple heavy LAPES at Giebelstadt. For those not conversant with LAPES, a triple heavy is three pallets tied together and the Herk poops them out all at the same time, all the while the pilot is trying to maintain aircraft control with the wheels three or four feet off the ground. Weights of the triple heavy (training lo…

Well after 19+ years as an engine mechanic on C-130's in the US AirForce it is time to move on . I am very grateful for the people that have made this possible for me . For the last year or so I have been avidly seeking a position as a Flight Engineer on C-130's and I can finally say I GOT THE JOB! I know most of you don't know me at all, but I'm sure I'll be picking some brains here . I have offcially became an idiot again. Now it's time to shut up and color.:D

Honestly - if you have not already seen this site, you have missed quite a bit. You know you have been at Walmart once or twice, and had seen something that could never be described or explained with a stragiht face. Or if you did, people thought you were drunk or making it all up. And you wished you had remembered your cellphone that has a camera. Or you had wished your cellphone had a camera. Not to worry though - someone else was able to get that pic. http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/

Unfortunately, Medicare and TRICARE payments were cut 21% on Thursday April 1. The Senate is considering corrective legislation (H.R. 4851) but is hung up over technical details. Please enter your ZIP code in the box and urge your senators to get this legislation passed and find a long-term fix upon return from the impending two-week congressional recess. http://capwiz.com/moaa/issues/alert/?alertid=14865961 Thanks Bonnie

You Might Be An Aircraft Mechanic If... You've ever slept on the concrete under a wing. You've ever said "Oh yes sir, its supposed to look like that". You know what JP4 or 145 octane tastes like. You've ever used a black grease pencil to fix an overworked tire. You have a better bench-stock in the pockets of your coveralls then the supply system. You've ever used a piece of safety wire as a toothpick. You've ever been told to go get "some prop wash and a yard of flight-line." You've ever worked a 14 hour shift on a aircraft that isn't flying the next day. You can sleep anywhere, anytime, but as soon as the engines shut down you are wide-awake. …

This may be old but it made me laugh! With that said, I thought I would share it all of you. Enjoy! Husband banned from Target After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target. Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women - she loves to browse. Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from our local Target. Dear Mrs. Samsel, Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store.. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against you…
