I only worked on the B-52H for about 7 months at KI Sawyer AFB, MI -- a very impressive airplane! Here's a clip of 120 TF-33P-3 engines rolling down the runway @ Minot. Don R. http://www.fark.com/cgi/vidplayer.pl?IDLink=4632948

I really really feel bad for our guys over in Afghanistan when buttmunching idiot's like this are in charge of our boots on the ground. Dear God, is he McNamaras kid or something? I think he needs a good bayonetting, how can you have peace with a group who's sole goal is to destroy you and your way of life.

Hey Crew Chiefs, any stories about doing favors for flight crews? We were one our way from McClellan to Hickam when I heard Maj._____ our nav make a comment that his kids lived on one of the islands and it had been four years since he had seen them. He asked the AC if there was anyway we could "break" the acft and give hiim a chance to visit them. This mission was just an out and back. Honestly, this was on of my least favorite crews. Hearing this kind of touch me, and being on headset, I told him I thought that could be arranged. When we touched down I asked the AC to feather one of the engines and write it up for a runaway engine. He did and after parking I called…

This is in response to PACAF’s post about crew chiefs doing favors. His post got me to thinking so I started a new thread so as not to hijack his.. First of all, this is not a USAF bashing rant – it’s just some of my personal observations. It never ceases to amaze me about the differences between military C-130 and commercial L-100 operations. I can honesty say that I have never “intentionally broken†an airplane just to stay in some garden spot or to visit the family – or for any other reason. Although the C-130 and the L-100 are basically the same airframe, there are minor differences, such as the lower cockpit windows, the battery bus systems…

Does anyone have or know where I can get a copy of this "interview"? I had a copy but it "vanished" when I PCSd from Germany. For those not in the know; it's a supposed interview of an F-4C pilot, in Vietnam and an American newsman with an Air Force PR man present to translate the Captains answers into the "company line". Always enjoyed it and I'm sure many younger troops would too. Thanks in advance.

One of the last things I do after catching up on all the new posts is to scroll down to the bottom & check out the profiles of any new members. Well, our new member for today (1/23/10) is none other than Loren Cooper. I imagine one of the old timers from the old C-130 HQ site is having some fun. Don R.

Elusive as they were, Pete thought he knew his enemies over there. The Viet Cong. The North Vietnamese. Their sympathizers. Nobody ever warned him about parasites in the water he drank, but they were there. Nobody ever mentioned the parasite…

I drove down to Kokomo yesterday on company business and was passing Grissom on my way back so I thought I would stop and look around. It's called the Grissom Aeroplex. The museum was closed but took a few pics over the fence. I was stationed there early 76 to Jun 77; back when it was SAC. Base housing is now "Villages at Eagles Point" or something like that. They put siding over the stucco and closed most of the carports into garages and sold old Capehart housing as condos! Found my old house, didn't look too bad, but in general the place is a slum....cars parked in yards, doors hanging off, trashcans in front of the houses and just generally unkept. The Air Rese…

The Fix There recently was an article in the St. Petersburg Fl. Times. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on: "How Would You Fix the Economy?"I think this guy nailed it! Dear Mr. President, Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan. You can call it the "Patriotic Retirement Plan": There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations: 1) They MUST retire. Forty mill…

Crisis Looms: Emergency Talks Break Down at UK HQ............[another problem created by organized labour] Muslim suicide bombers in Britain are set to begin a three-day strike on Monday in a dispute over the number of virgins they are entitled to in the afterlife. Emergency talks with Al Qaeda management have so far failed to produce an agreement. The unrest began last Tuesday when Al Qaeda announced that the number of virgins a suicide bomber would receive after his death will be cut by 20% next January from 72 to only 60. The rationale for the cut was the increase in recent years of the number of suicide bombings and a subsequent shortage of virgins in the after…
