This has long been in the photo album. It brings back many memories for myself. Forgot to share it last year. This year I remembered. It was originally published in the Philippine Flyer, which was the base paper for Clark. I want to say the date it was published is either in 1975 or 1976. T'was the Night Before Christmas Adapted by Barri E. Burrows T’was the night before Christmas In my Philippine hut. Not a creature was stirring, Not even the mutt. The medyas were hung from the mesa with care In hope that St. Nicholas would soon be there. The children perspired on their open air beds, While dreams of air conditioning danced in their heads. And Ma i…

"A Different Christmas Poem" The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light, I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight. My wife was asleep, her head on my chest, My daughter beside me, angelic in rest. Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white, Transforming the yard to a winter delight. The sparkling lights in the tree I believe, Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve. My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep, Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep. In perfect contentment, or so it would seem, So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream. The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near, But I opened my eyes when …

It flies! My son and I just watched history in the making as the Boeing 787 took to the air for the first time. Congratulations Boeing. When will Lockheed (aka Lackheed) take to the air with a new heavy lifter? Or even a light lifter for that matter? Well, Airbus may have the A400-M, but Boeing has the 787 which also shows promise. Now, if the Pentagon just makes the right decision and goes with the Boeing tanker vs. the Airbus.......

Here's a joke I heard back in 90 when I was a fresh FNG on the flightline: note: this joke applies to any branch,so I'll give you the AF version. 3 Generals and an Admiral are sitting around a campfire, each bragging about which branch has more balls, the army gen cant stand it anymore and sees a soldier walking and by and calls him over and says, "soldier, I want you to run out on the battlefield and kill me 150 tanks and bring me back 1500 POW's!" The gen turns to the others and says see?The marine gen goes, "that aint sh#t!" and when he sees a marine walk by, he says, "marine, run out on the battlefield and kill me 250 tanks and bring me back 2500 POW"s!" so then he l…

Went to Arizona over the holdiay. Went to Pima museum. Was kind of a sad sight to see what had become of the few herks and the fairchilds they did have on display. Did not arrive in time to go out and take the graveyard tour. Thought I would share the pics - so if any of you plan on going out there, you can save yourself a little time if you are going there to see herks. There was a very very small display about aircraft in Southeast Asia, and the role they played. No mention of CCK or PI. Small teeny tiny mention of the herk. Down on the bottom corner it was "planes utilized in Southeast Asian...c130 Hercules, on display outside". There was a zippo lighter with Blind…

Back when you joined the service of course. Check this site out for pay tables going back to 1949. http://www.dfas.mil/militarypay/militarypaytables/militarypaypriorrates.html BTW, I made $642.90 when I joined up as an E-2 in February 1983. Just a hair over what a bird colonel over 22 years in service made in 1949! As an E-2 Uncle Sam paid for my supper and bed though! Mark

It so good that all the siera clubbers and tree huggers were sucessful in returning large numbers of wolves to the wild. They are decimating the game population faster than jimmy joe billy bob with a spotlight and a shotgun. Be afraid, be very afraid:eek:

It was 46 years ago today that Kennedy was assinated in Dallas, TX. I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning, but I can remember that day like it was yesterday. I was a brand new one-striper at Langley AFB, VA and I can remember going over to the CQ's office in one of the barracks and asking about it. Those were the old open bay WW II baracks in the Shellbank area and TSgt Clevenger was the CQ. Don R.

I am having a dispute with the Army. There is a Organization here in ADA OK. called the Combat Infantry Badage Association I am sure they are good people. They are like Amvets and the American Legion they help other vets in need and help vets with disability forms . They are in many states. The problem I am having with them they put in the local news paper that the Combat Infantry Badge is the second highest medal are badge you can receive and the only thing that out ranks it is the Medal OF HONOR. I got in a dispute with a Retired Army full Col. I told him he was wrong. He got so mad he was ready to fight. I couldn't belive a full Col would think the CIB was the second …

Looks like us retirees will not be getting a COLA next year. Apparently this is due to a negative cost of living for this year. However if that is the case then why are the active duty guys getting a COLA for next year? Hint...I certainly do not wish to take anything away from the AD guys but it should at least make sense.
