Found an excellent shooting range here, probably the best range I have seen in a long time. Its run by the conservation folks, its public and FREE to use (thank God I get something for all these taxes here in IN). It was a nice day, warmed up and was about 33 or 34 and sunny and we had a great time!!

To all of you on the board belated Merry Christmas, Hannaka, Qwanza, and New Year wishes from the House of Gizzard. My computer took some kind of fit, around December 14, probably associated with our lousy power service in this area, and I have been totally unconnected. I am now functioning on an old laptop borrowed from my daughter. This past year had some real bumps in it for me, but I also gained a bunch of new brothers, on this site. What a great honor for me and to spend such a great time with the 316th guys last summer, well I can't describe that at all. My wife is having surgery on her foot tomorrow, a very painful procedure at that. She will be pretty muc…

I'm trying to find anyone, that was in the 774 TAS during 1971 and 1972, that has a copy of Air Crew "BLANKET FLYING ORDERS" for SEA, that has my name on it and the rest of the Squadron's name on it too, just for a keep-sake item. Would like to have a copy e mailed to me. Actually, wouldn't mind hearing from anyone I was stationed with over at Clark AB. Would like to hear from anyone, on the Air Crew, the day I fell out of the back of crew transport pick-up, at Cam Rahn Bay AB, RVN. I was the FE.

I was just reading the Oct. VFW magazine and in the claims section there is a guy named James P Denney who is trying to see if anybody remembers him sliding out the back of a pick up. I assume he was on a flight crew according to the claim, and he says he was in the 774th TAS from Apr. 71 to Sept. 72 (Clark AB P. I.) The accident happened at CRB Viet Nam. I just thought I would try to see if anybody here might know him and be able to help him out! His e-mail address and phone number are posted in the mag. so I guess it is alright to put it here. At least the e-mail address! [email protected] I guess I will e-mail that address myself and tell him about us!!!!!…

hey , guys, the local paper is gonna run this in their Saturday TV guide section supposedly from that bastion of historical information, accuracy, and research History Channel. They claim it to be of a young marine just off the boat at DaNang in 65. Some things about it puzzle me, I may be off on this stuff, so let me know. First, his name tag, has both first initials and last name, and is on the left side of his blouse. My recollection is that they were on the right, last name only. Number two, his helmet cover has writing on it which probably didn't happen on your first day on the beach. His hair looks way too long, and he has no rank insignia visible. And, tinwhistle…

Well guys, anybody that knows me, knows that I am the last person on earth to harp about PPE, BUT----- If your working on an old house, pulling down the plaster, removing the insulation, digging out rats nests, dead birds, dead bats etc..... WEAR YOUR MASK Right now I am down to about 40% lung capacity due to stuff mentioned above. Seems like I came down with Histoplasmosis about a year ago, which untreated is fatal, and I have had it undiagnosed for the last year. Just now starting a 12 month course of meds (nasty ones too) to try to get rid of this crap so well see where this leads. This is the primary reason I have been missing the last couple of months. Now I…

First of all, welcome to the forum! As usual, I was lurking in the new members notice area and saw the name Rapelje and thought wow somebody from my area!!! Well, no such luck but wanted to ask you if you are a distant relative of the person that Rapelje Montana was named after. Rapelje is a small (very small) farming/ranching community 27 miles north of Columbus where I live. It is right in the middle of nowhere and is mostly a grain farming area. Nice country though!! You mentioned being a 1st Sgt of the 817th TAS in 68 and 69 so I would probably know you if I saw you. I was in the 35th and Msgt. Galloway was my 1st. Sgt. Gary Levesque and I took over his room in the…

I was just watching Irene's path a few minutes ago and I got to thinking a lot of you guys are in it's path!! I don't think the forecasts are wavering any either!! I was only on the East Coast once & that was at Dover. I can imagine what it would be like there if Irene stays on it's current route!!! I suppose Rehoboth Beach is going to see some damage! Anyway, right now it sounds like it is the real deal so you guys be careful. You guys that were stationed at Naha could always head for Naminoue or it's equivalent before they close the main gate!!!!! It sounds like it could be no joking matter so take care, Ken

I'm going to be retiring in a little over a year after 20-odd years in maintenance. I'm interested in AFETS--does anyone know how to go about becoming an AFETS guy?
