Anyone know the tail numbers of the C-130 trainers parked in a row on the ramp at Sheppard? There are 7 or 8 or so of them.

On some air bases the Air Force is on one side of the field and civilian aircraft use the other side of the field, with the control tower in the middle. One day the tower received a call from an aircraft asking, \"What time is it?\" The tower responded, \"Who is calling?\" The aircraft replied, \"What difference does it make?\" The tower replied, \"It makes a lot of difference... If it is an American Airlines flight, it is 3 o\'clock . If it is an Air Force plane, it is 1500 hours. If it is a Navy aircraft, it is 6 bells. If it is an Army aircraft, the big hand is on the 12 and the little hand is on the 3. If it is a Marine Corps aircraft, it\'s Thursday afterno…

That is what the Air Force has in mind with its new J model C-130 Hercules aircraft, unveiled at Ramstein Nov. 9, and meant to replace the C-130E. With an extended cargo bay and added features, the C-130J is set to attack and execute any mission set in front of it, officials said. \"Adding the C-130J to Ramstein\'s airlift mission will greatly aid in mission success\" said Maj. Was the 3-letter code (the IATA code) for Rhein Main AB FRA or FRF? One is for the air base & the other is for the flughaven, but I can\'t remember which is which. I remember the ICAO code for the air base was EDAF. Thanks, Don R.

I'm down in Destin Florida for 2 weeks and was wondering if what 130 units may be heading this way to work the oil spill. I thought I saw there were 2 130's down here to spray stuff to break up the oil but haven't heard any more about them. I know the weather has been bad but supposed to get better today. Good luck to anyone who comes down her and thanks for your help!!!

Do any of you old crew chiefs happen to have a picture of the inside of one of the old blue expediter trucks. Especially a picture of the grease board with the planes assigned to it and their status? Remember all of the abbreviations that were used such as NORS- G, ETIC, ETA, or IRAN? One of my best friends from CCK just reminded me of them tonight . Especially the abbreviation IRAN . I remember wondering why one of our planes was in Iran!! Remember how many hours we spent in the vans going from place to place getting out of the rain or just goofing off?? You guys from the shops spent your share of time in them also!! The guy responsible for reminding me of this part…

` Bloomberg News Boeing's C-130 Transport Upgrades Said to Be Ended by Pentagon - Jan 12, 2012, Jan. 12 (Bloomberg) -- The Pentagon has canceled a 10-year- old program that has Boeing Co. upgrading C-130 Hercules transports with modern cockpit electronics, according to two government officials. The move saves almost $4 billion, including $2.22 billion planned from 2013 to 2016, according to an Air Force program document. The Air Force recommended the program termination and Pentagon planners accepted, said one of the officials familiar with the decision, who spoke on condition of anonymity because it hasn’t been announced. What is everyone's take on whether the rescue C-130s should be ACC or SOC? Personally, I thought they needed to be SOC. I think SOC understands the mission better and supports them better as well. But I'm an outsider and am not all that familiar with all the ins and outs. Thoughts?

Hey guys and girls I am flirting with the idea of getting out of AD and trying my hand at being an FE on 130's. I have 8 years in as a crew chief on c-5's and will be going to mildenhall to work on the afsoc 130's for 3 years. I love being a crew chief but I wouldn't mind living somewhere permanently. So if any one wants to give their 2 cents on this matter please feel free to lay it down. Last but not least I would really love to live in col springs working for the col reserves. Thanks in advance for any and all help on this matter. -Matt

Guys, one of our own, Sparks, is experiencing some really serious medical issues with his son. Without a lot of details, let me say the whole family is in for quite a difficult stretch. I met him, and spent four days with him at the 316th reunion last June, and he is a top drawer guy........Let's all do whatever we find appropriate to give support and comfort. I know he would do the same for us. Sparks, you ain't alone!!!!!!!!!! load clear Giz

Hello everybody, every now and then raises a question, which I am unable to solve with the available resources in the internet. There come my friends in this forum... :-) Flap lever: Does the flap lever have idents? Why ist the flap lever mounted so far aft in the center pedestal? On pictures of the 130J cockpit it looks very uncomfortable/unergonomic to handle the lever. Cursor device: Looks like a fixed joystick....what is the purpose of the cursor device? Are there any cursors used in th MFDs? What are the functions of the buttons? Coolie hats? Are there buttons on lower side (aka firebutton)? Thanks in advance, greetings from Bavaria and an joyous 2014 …
