64-0566 has been returned to Lockheed for tear down. Checking out the Center Wing section. Anyone know if it went to Marietta, Greenville, or Palmdale? Thanks 'Bob

The wife and I like the ScFy channel and most of it's ridiculous movies. They're entertaining, story lines that are WTF, albeit low budget with "acting" that's, well, acting like they're trying to act. Anyway, yesterday must have been crocodile day. We watched one called Robo Croc. Anyway, around the 1:30 mark they showed some Hercs. One parked, one taxiing, each with the MAFF red numbers, a 1 and a 2, H models. Then a J model taking off and climbing and turning, then a legacy flight deck while airborne. Back and forth a few times. Bought the only time I perked up and watched. Only saving grace part of the movie.

Does the J run off of cables or is it all fly by wire and electric throttles? Reason for the question is the Boeing 777 that crashed/landed short yesterday at Heathrow. From what the British investigators have released so far is at 600 AGL the pilot pushed up the throttles and the computer decided he didn\'t need power!! Call me a Luddite but I like the idea of a direct connection to flight controls or engines, I have too many things that \"absolutely cannot fail\" fail on me. (seems to me those guys were pretty lucky) Dan

Hi all, I'm not a C-130 bubba, but I did fly on P-3's back in the day. I'm on the civilian side and looking a for a bit of knowledge from Herc pilots/maintainers. I've been reading through some maintenance documents particular to the exterior lighting system. The TO references aircraft modified by TO 1C-130-1167, which is a retrofit adding strobes to the anti-collision lights. I'm curious if this was a widespread retrofit and non-strobe ACLs are the exception, or it was only applied in a limited fashion. Any info would help...cheers and happy holidays!

No, not a girls name at the Dozen!! While I was at CCK (69-70), there was a dog that hung out by my barracks! (#336). She was a black and white dog not too big with kind of long hair!! Anyway, she got pregnant and had a fairly large litter of puppies! The story goes that she made a trip to CRB once and got knocked up there!! I never saw any dogs there, but who knows?? After the puppies were getting close to being weaned, they started disappearing one or two at a time until they were almost all gone!! Nobody could figure out what was happening with the pups but I think we all had our suspicions! Well, one day as I was returning from downtown, I was let off at the bus stop…

While rummaging around for somethin' else, I came across this picture, from June 1970, of my loadie class, at Sheppard. Does anyone recognize any of these guys, or know where they are now? Front row: Georgeson (ID, Hearne (TXs), Merrow (CA), Brummett (TN), Yeakley (AK), Hamblin (KY) Second row: TSGT Mike Hollman, instructor (was in 316th around 72), Correa(CA), Gannon(TX), Parish(WV, now D), Stoddard(VT, went to Pease Rescue), Banks(GA) Vaughn (IN) Classick(CA), Rudek(CA) I hope I can attach the picture. Sure would like to know where these guys ended up. It seemed to me that we were quite a bunch and got along well. But 41 years AGO????? Gi…

Does anyone out there remember hearing of or being involved in an operation in April 1971, in which a large number of Marines were airlifted from, I think, Cherry Point, to DC to respond to a war protest? If so, what airfield were they landed at, how many were transported, how long were they there, and how did they get back to their home station. I remember making at least three round trips on this operation ( crew day be damned), but can\'t remember any of the rest, or find any reference to the event. I ain\'t losin\' my mind am I?

C-130E crew loses power over Little Rock The Associated Press Posted : Monday Nov 10, 2008 7:26:18 EST JACKSONVILLE, Ark. — On a practice flight, an Arkansas National Guard crew was put to the test when all four engines of its C-130E lost power in the skies over the Little Rock Air Force Base. They remained calm, however, in the seconds-long emergency Sept. 9 and landed safely. As it turned out, a one-in-a-million fluke caused the problem and was fixed with a $2,100 purchase of a new part, Air Force officials say. The so-called four-engine rollback is so rare that crews are not even trained for it. “What makes this exceptional is this is a very (rare) prob…
