Could someone take a picture of the flushable toilet in the newer C-130s and post the pic. Also get a closer one of the flush button. I would appreciate it.

We are looking at the C130H-1-1 graphs and trying to work out strip lenghts and weights as compaired to the new civil -1-1 performance manual. In the Take off field length decision tree in the mil -1 -1 . It gets to a point about is crew Assault Qualified ? So what is Assault Qualified? is it just TAC trained ( Airland / Low Level) as apposed to a Basic Quall? or is it more of a Spec Ops role? Chris PS also has anyone crunched the numbers for the new LM 382-1-1 and seen how restrictive it now is?

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (AFNS) -- Members of the 418th Flight Test Squadron C-130 Hercules Wheel Brake System Improvement program here are testing the performance of carbon brakes and the new Mark IV Digital Antiskid Control Unit for the aircraft to replace the C-130's legacy brake system. Members of this test group said they know the lives of current and future C-130 crewmembers depend on them doing their job right. "My primary objective is to make sure the carbon brakes and the Mark IV are equivalent to or better than the legacy steel brakes and the Mark II Analog Antiskid system," said Colin Young, a 418th FLTS subsystems engineer. "If the tests are succes…

OK - I need a little info. Can you tell when a C-130 was made by the number. I am a very old timer. I was stationed at Ardmore AFB in Oklahoma from 1955 till 1959. This C-130 in the commercial #56-0511. Does this mean it was made in 1956? I have assumed that it does for years. Does the -0511 have any significance, like maybe made in the month of May, or is it just a number? I was an Instrument Repairman and worked on 16 different planes in the 773 TCS. Towards the end of my hitch I worked on all the planes in the 773, 772, 774, and 775. This was during the time that Ardmore was being closed and the planes were being sent to Smyrna. I was discharged at Ardmore i…

It's been a while for me, 25 years, but there use to be C-130A, B, E, H, HC-H, HC-N, and HC-P designations. The HC-H and P's had the Fulton radome. Did they change all the designations, etc? Just curious.

Trying to find some information on 64-0533. Right now it's sitting static at Elmo. They are refurbishing the acft and are looking for any information on it, to include pix from the back in the day wearing the SEA paint scheme. I have tried looking at the database to convert to LMCO production # but nothing comes up. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I was wondering if PACAF will replace their current H model C-130s with newer airplanes?. I ran into a 36th AS crewmember in 2009 who stated his unit was slated to receive Js,but with funding cuts, this has not so far happened. Maybe if a C-130J unit is disbanding at Little Rock, the displaced airplanes will replace the 1970s era C-130Hs at Yokota?.

Saw this pic on the net today. Says it was of 63-9815 at Duke Field 1115 MAS in 1973. Anyone know anything about this aircraft, the squadron or its mission? I think I remember seeing this aircraft at Howard in the 70's when I was on rote there. Bob

Some time ago there was a discussion in this forum concerning the ABCCC birds in Vietnam. Even though I actually assisted in loading the module, both at CCK and at Danang I was told that I was mistaken, that the modules were loaded and hooked up in the States. Just the other day I stumbled upon some old pictures, and low and behold, there is a pic of the ABCCC mod being loaded. And it ain't at Hickam or anywhere else in the U.S. If I'm not mistaken, it's at Danang. I'll see if I can upload the pic to this post. If not it can be viewed in "My Gallery".

Think this may have been the Herk that was damaged by an Oxygen recharger hose stuffed behind a circuit breaker panel. I took this photo during a Rodeo at Pope around 1987.

Emmy Award Winning Production company is producing a brand new TV series about Extreme Vehicles! To contrast the mega machines we film with, we show very small vehicles coming to untimely ends – and we’re interested in dropping a very small vehicle out of an airplane and having it smash on the ground. Ideally, this would take place in the desert vicinity of Las Vegas, on or around Feb 11th, although other locations may work as well. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact us: [email protected] This series will air on a major US cable network.

Hello. I found this site because I am looking for a certain kind of image of a C-130. My father was a flight engineer on C-130s. He passed just two months ago (09/15/2009) and the family is in the process of having a headstone prepared for his and my mother's gravesite. We would like to have an image of a C-130 etched on the back of the stone above their name. I have been looking for a suitable drawing to use for this purpose. I have seen many wonderful photographs on this site but still haven't found a drawing that I believe is simple enough, yet detailed enough for use on their headstone. Does anyone have a suggestion on where I might be able to find an image t…

Hello, I'm getting ready to retire after 20 years of service... Any advice? Suggestions on what pitfalls I can avoid? With everything being on virtal MPF, it's a pain. How does the VA come in to play? Do I get my medical exam while my on active duty with the VA? I'll be leaving Moldy Hole in Jul with a retirement date of 01 Nov 09. Retiring overseas is a pain, I'm going to be at Little Rock. A new process to streamline the retirement process won't let me final out at Little Rock AFB, I've got to do every thing at Mildenhall. Thanks for all the advice, Eric
