Sorry for the intrusion by a non flyer, but I am looking for online reference regarding the placement and configuration of the electroluminescent formation lights on a C-130H. The info is for the purposes of detailing a 1/25 scale flying RC model. I have included simulated lights for the fuselage and vertical stab since they are readily visible in most photos. Photos that show the slime lights on the top and bottom of the wings, fuselage and horizontal stab are harder to find. Is anyone here familiar with any photos or diagrams that would help? Thanks for your time. Photo attached is the model I am working on with a 1/25 scale Humvee for reference. …

While there was only 5 of us on the crew it took thousands to get is in and keep us in the air. I want to thank all the Crew Chiefs that made sure we had a good airplane each day. They stayed as log as it took to get the airplane back in the "Green". Thanks to all the MX guys that fixed the planes we "broke". The fuelers that topped us off. The list goes on forever. For ever one of us that had wings there was 50,000 to support us. I especially want to thank the great Pilots that brought me home every night. I was 19 and thought these guys were old men..Most were in their late 20s. Happy veterans day to all of you.

I'm not sure where this post belongs as the VA claims threads are no longer on the site. Until a few months ago the word RAMP was where we parked the airplane or what I lowered to load rolling stock. I never parked on a Tarmac and never used that word until I heard it on CNN. At FedEx it was still a Ramp. I have had a hearing claim in the Black Hole since late 2014. No one could give me any information as to the progress or when I might get a decision. It was in the appeals process. In the Spring I got a letter from the VA inviting me to move my appeal out of the "legacy" appeals process and into the new RAMP (Rapid Appeals Modernization Process) system. My first thought …

I am going to be painting and lettering a radio control C-130H model in the near future. I plan to replicate a WVANG craft. I have some photos of the plane I want to model, but I was wondering if there is a source, short of trying to contact someone at the Guard or AF, for paint and lettering diagrams that show placement and size of the various lettering and markings on the plane? Thanks for any help Jim

I'm trying to locate Pilot and/or Loadmaster Checklists (Amplified, or Abbreviated) for LAPES. Please check your attics, basements, garages, or the dusty archives of your computer for any electronic copies that you may have stashed away "just in case" you might ever need them again. Will pay photo copying/shipping costs for hard copies. PM me if able to assist. Mark

hi everyone, we always been told the clevis bolts on truss mounts (4 on each center and 2 on each outer truss mounts) are hard landing indicators, if any of them found sheared it means the aircraft suffered a hard landing.. I tried to find this info in the manuals many times but couldn't.. even started to doubt about it I am sure there is a purpose of the special way to install them leaving 0.020-0.040" gap and the restrictions about over-sizing their holes anybody have a clue about it?

I heard that a couple of C-130's were parked at Cubi Point so I drove out there to take a look. They are MC-130J's belonging to the 17thSOS here for Balikatan 2018. Tails are # 5761 and # 5762.

I've been searching for hours, what is the difference in equipment/instrumentation/etc. between a TC-130 and a C-130? I know the TC- is a training aircraft but is there any true difference between a TC-130 and a C-130 other than the job it has?

I read something (I think it was Air Force Magazine website or the AFA website) that mentioned that the omnibus budget includes 6 J-models destined for the Air National Guard. If this is true, where are they going? I heard Louisville was campaigning for them. I think the number six comes from the theory that six stretches carry the same load as eight shorties. It's a bad theory, but I'm not here to argue that.

I have come across this kit that I can't find any information on. When I research the military part numbers it shows as being for use on some of the C130 variants. This is basically just a cable and pulley kit but there are some things that raise my curiosity factor. It is in a very nicely made box, It has steel cable with hooks, It has three heavy duty roller brackets that appear to be used to pass the cable around corners. But the two cable blocks appear to be very light duty. The hooks are lightweight and the pulleys appear to be made of a phenolic material so not much load capacity there. I asked at the local foresty service flight office and they thought it was used …

Back in the mid 1960's while stationed at Sewart AFB I remember reading a article in the Safety Magazine about a Crew Chief in the Azors who was trying to get some sticky tar off the bottom of the fuselage so he sprayed JP-4 on the fuselage using a low pressure air compressor. The next thing he knew the aircraft had caught on fire and was severely damaged. A couple of months later returning from a TDY to Mildenhall AB, Eng, I passed through Lages AB, Azores, and happened to see that same aircraft resting on cradles in a hanger. The fuselage was severely damaged, the aluminum was melted on the bottom of the fuselage and the landing gears were damaged. Do you know if the…
