Hi Folks, new questions about the C-130J: Autothrottle: How and where is the autothrottle function disengaged? Trimming: Where and how is trimming done? Is there anywhere a manual trimwheel? Last question for tonight: Does the C-130J have spoilers? Sorry for eventually dumb questions, but the only source of information are pictures in the web and this forum. (great source!! ) Thanks and greetings from Bavaria/Germany Thomas www.thomas-heinke.de

I am a former KC-130 FE and I am finishing up my degree with ERAU. I am in the process of doing my Capstone paper and I am doing it on the issue of reduced TIT on the T56. I would appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to participate in a survey pertaining to the issue. The link is as follows: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/QC9SL95 Thanks, Rick

A few years back I read something about how the plastic chocks were not rated for the C-130 for power runs but I can't find it anywhere now. It was some TO that had aircraft parking and mooring and a bunch of other stuff. I tried finding it today but had no success whatsoever... I thought that it was in the 1-1A-17 or 00-25-??? TO but I just can't find it anywhere.

Does anyone have a good photo (or technical cocuments) of the "Roman Nose" C-130A looking aft at the nose? I am trying to get some good details of the two or three items on the nose. One I have been told is a taxi light but I cannot make out what the other(s) are. Are they ream air vents or other lights? This is the best I have found..... http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1054/1163487610_59a4aa6276.jpg?v=0 Any help is appreciated! David Horn II

Hello all, I am a new member and need some help getting information regarding the fuel system on C-130A models. I am a fuel cell mechanic and have worked C-130's for 13 years but the earliest models I have worked are B models. I would like to get an idea of the major changes done from A models as well as specifics of the original system. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

Hello, my name is Austin Hancock, and I am a volunteer with the National Warplane Museum (Geneseo, NY.)Our museum has the opportunity to acquire a Lockheed C-130A, serial number 57-0460, from the Smithsonian. We are searching for the engine logs for the Allison T56-A-1A turboprop powerplants. We are hoping that someone may be able to help us, or at least point us in the right direction(s.) So far, I've written to Maxwell AFB, who had no info for us. Also, I have written to Rolls-Royce (Allison engine) and Lockheed-Martin (plane manuf), and had no response yet.Any help you could give us would be of most assistance. Thank you in advance!Best,Austin Hancock

I am dealing with a lot of "low performance" problems with cargo compartment air conditions of old B models. And by "low performance" I mean insufficient airflow especially during colder settings(AUTO & Manual) and especially on the ground or low altitudes, causing discomfort to the crew and passengers during summertime(temperature regulation seems normal). The problem is the same both with engines and/or GTC supplying air. Things get a little better as the airplane climbs in a higher altitude. The air condition heat exchanger most of the times is found to be repaired or overhauled. Apart of the heat exchanger I think that the flow can also be affected by the shut o…

Hello. C-130H mechanics! I have a question about C-130H prop' dynamic balancing. We are currently using the VXP equipment C-130H prop' balancing data collection is HSGI and 7000 in-lbs We performed a check both of which exceeded the limit(within 0.2 ips) However, reducing ips of 7000 in- lbs increases ips of HSGI Is it normal for HSGI's ips to go too high when ips is reduced to 7000 in-lbs? Can it be corrected inversely? If so, which section should IPS be based on?

Hello, I'm new to this lovely website and forum, I found that quite a lot of you here are quite knowledgeable ( spent some time reading threads ) about Hercs and wondered if you could help me on a confusing situation. I'm part of a structural engineering support and our MRO is new to C-130s. We have a model 382C in horrible condition and I can't proceed too much in details because of our contract, I will most likely have to remove ( or edit, at best ) the thread in case I wrote anything too "accurate". Sadly, our situation is very complicated and because of this very peculiar situation, we have limited access to documentation and communications are hard to deal …

Two aircraft (C-130H) #1 main tank on one aircraft and #4 main on another- slow to take fuel during transfer.I've replaced the refuel valves and all vent valves and borescoped all refuel and vent manifolds . Both tanks on different aircraft are still taking on fuel extremely slower than the opposite tank on the opposite wing. All the other tanks on both aircraft will take fuel at the same rate.I even physically checked the valves in the drybays and all are working... Anything I'm missing here ? any help is greatly appreciated.......Pete

Ok, so I'm out at base X flying our 4 '74 models and notice a trend. After climbing up to our cruise ceiling, we can't true out until an hour or two later....so I started running some other charts. I first would watch our TAS until we just hit 300, then took a snapshot of average torque, gross weight, OAT, alt, etc. I would then run the IAS for 300TAS chart, which might have come out with something like 12,000 in lbs, before the drag correction. On page 2 (drag correction), I would correct for our advertised ~+20 index, and would come up with a value much less than what it just took us to creep up to 300 TAS. So then, I would come in backwards with my average actual …

Hi all, I'm new here, and found the site after a lengthy search. Looks like a great site, and am already finding it hard to leave the computer. Can anyone pont me to a place where I may be able to find the differences between the sub models in the C-130H. EG. I know that the RAAF use the C-130H-3 and found some technical specs on it, but the USCG use the C-130H-7. I'm only guessing but it would appear to me that the number is a modification designator within the H model. Thanks, Sean
