Hi Casey has done a big update to the photo gallery. We are still missing pics of 87 of the 2315+/- Herks built. There is a listing in the gallery section of the ones we are missing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bob

What do you have to do to go from slicks at Dyess to a Talon? How and what are the prerequisites? It\'s not advertised on AMS. Thanks.

Just a quick post to let people know that if they are looking for old friends from years ago (about 37 yrs.), don\'t give up! Recently one of my best friends in the AF found me on the Hercules Forum, and since then we have located another of our good friends! We have been wearing out our computers sending messages and pics back and forth and WILL eventually get together again!!! We were all stationed at CCK together and hope we can locate some more of our buddies! We are: Ken Carlson, Steve Mudge, and Dennis (Red) Guinane. Also, I am still looking for my friends from the 35th TAS at Naha (67-69), and the Blind Bat crew pictured in the Blind Bat section on these forums!…

Willard C. Fry.........I was at Travis with him....he was a load on 141\'s in the late 60\'s/early 70\'s....I was in aerial delivery there. Then he was at Dyess in 78 or 79 in Herks. I happened to be there during our AF Reserve weekend from O\'Hare. Anybody on here worked with him or know of his whereabouts? He was a SSgt while at Travis.

recently introduced herky birds to a freind of mine that used to crew 40553 with the 53rd WRS. I thought he was going to shed a tear when he saw what has become of \"his\" plane. I\'m sure a lot of us will see a very unglorified demise of our favorite herks in the years to come. The lucky ones may be displayed somewhere for years to come. Certainly are worse things than ending up in a boneyard! I hope to see \"mine\" in a boneyard someday. maybe I\'ll pay her a visit. Greg, I\'ve noticed in that very handsome photo of yourself that you\'re wearing only two stripes on your epauletts. In all the companies I\'ve ever worked for, the PFE wore three bars whilst the load & ground engineer wore two. Do you remember what airplane you were on or who you worked for when you took that photo? Just curious. Don R.

Folks, I have a question. With the changes going on in the training arena IE- Nashville goes into the forign training business, Dobbins gets out of the training business and Little Rock expands some more, do you think the AF brass took a full look at what this will do to the training thru put of crews? Hear me out before you get stuck on the first paragraph. How long will it take to get the simulators from Dobbins moved to the Rock? How will Nashville do their new mission without a Sim? How long will it take to get contracting to build a simulator facility at Nashville and expand the the facilities at the Rock? What down time in the training community will the…

I received this from Antonio Vilela at OGMA in Alverca Portugal. It is the remains of 5141 Tchad TT-PAF. It ran off the end of the runway and burned at Abeche Tchad landing in a sandstorm in June 2006. The wreckage can still be seen on Google Earth at 13 50\'47N 20 51\'35E 5 Passenger fatalities/ no crew. Bob [img size=600]http://herkybirds.com/images/fbfiles/images/5141C.jpg

If the Red shirt thing is new to you, read below... Last week, while traveling to Chicago on business, I noticed a Marine sergeant traveling with a folded flag, but did not put two and two together. After we boarded our flight, I turned to the sergeant, who\'d been invited to sit in First Class (across from me), and inquired if he was heading home. No, he responded. Heading out I asked? No. I\'m escorting a soldier home. Going to pick him up? No. He is with me right now. He was killed in Iraq , I\'m taking him home to his family. The realization of what he had been asked to do hit me like a punch to the gut. It was an honor for him. He tol…

On 27 Nov 07 the 165 AW lose a valued member of our family, MSgt Mark Wallace passed away suddenly. We at the 165 and the Air National Guard will miss him very much. To add to the pain it was his birthday. He left behind a mother and three lovely daughters. Mark was sitting at his office desk when he had a massive heart attack. While every thing possible was done for him, God must have needed a FE.:(
