Humorous email I got - You Might Be Taliban If: .You refine heroin for a living but have a moral objection to beer. .You own a $300 assault rifle and a $5,000 rocket launcher, but you can\'t afford shoes. .You have more wives than teeth. .You think vests only come in two styles: Bullet-Proof and Suicide. .You\'ve ever opened a can of falafel with a mortar round. .You\'ve used a Stinger missile given to you by George Bush Sr. to shoot at a helicopter sent by George Bush Jr. .You can\'t think of anyone you HAVEN\'T declared Jihad against. .You consider television dangerous, but routinely carry live ammunition in your robe. .You\'ve eve…

I just got done with the new AF times and they had an article stating where the USAF beddown of future airframes would be. I see Mansfield on the list as a JCA base. What happened to the BRAC on Mansfield. BRAC stated Mansfield would close, no future mission, no aircraft change, no guard base. Now they show up as a JCA unit? What gives? I am not bagging on the folks there, I have enjoyed working with them over the years and thought it was another huge mistake by the BRAC to shut \'em down. What happend to make the change and how did Ohio do it? Herkeng Retired in Texas

To anyone: Has anyone heard any more news on the move from Kulis to Elmendorf? I know that this was part of BRAC 2005 and they have until 2011 to comply, but it seems like the F-22 deal kind of took over up there. I am curious on how the AD/ANG hook up will work as well. Thanks in advance! DaveB)

This is a long shot but I was wondering if any of you old timers on this board were in the 17th TAS at the Dorf in Jan. 1972. I was stationed at Hill AFB in the 1550 ATTW. I was on night shift when I got a call from the AC of a transient A model. They had RONed at Hill and the TA crew had towed their airplane while they were in crew rest and he thought they had broke it. When I got there the FE told me to look in the left wheel well. What I saw was hard to believe...the lower fwd shoe had popped out of the track on the fwd gear and the jackscrew was bowed like a dogs hind leg and had retracted about 2-3 inches. He says...can you help us...Ha Ha I says. This was way before…

I would like to get in touch with any engineers or aircrew who have had experience working with the Yemeni C-130\'s or Crew, either in Yemen or RSAF when were seviced there. Heard a lot about you guys from the oldtimers here, especially Brit aircrews. Also interested in hearing about any stories from the guys and girls who passed through Muscat during the Gulf wars about the Brit 130 hangar at Seeb airport. We were glad to be of service. Any tales about what you got up to at Thumrait or Masirah will be appreciated. To all C-130 people, Keep them flying and nice one. Take care.

For anyone interested in working for a Herc operator in the Middle East & being based in Dubai, a Canadian loadmaster friend of mine sent me this website. Maximus, a new start-up flying two -30\'s, is looking for Captains, FO\'s, FE\'s & Loads. http://www.localjobsearch.co.uk/Jobs/Results.aspx?CompanyID=23463 Looks pretty lucrative, but I\'m way too retired to check it out. Hell, I haven\'t held a medical since 2003 & my passport finally expired last year. Don R.

When I went TDY to Clark From Sewart about Oct 64 There was a maint. persom filling the lox system. We had always been told that LOX and grease did not mix and would go Boom. I was about 3 planes away and on top of my plane,we were parked on the clover leafs when I saw a rescue helicopter come in real fast and land for a couple of minutes then take off again. A little later I was told that one of the Maint. persons had tried to attatch the LOX to the plane and it exploded burning him pretty bad. I don\'t remember his name but I heard he was sent to Walter Reed Hospital. Doed anyone remember this and what happened to the Airman? I was also told his wrench had grease …

Does anyone out there remember hearing of or being involved in an operation in April 1971, in which a large number of Marines were airlifted from, I think, Cherry Point, to DC to respond to a war protest? If so, what airfield were they landed at, how many were transported, how long were they there, and how did they get back to their home station. I remember making at least three round trips on this operation ( crew day be damned), but can\'t remember any of the rest, or find any reference to the event. I ain\'t losin\' my mind am I?

Does the J run off of cables or is it all fly by wire and electric throttles? Reason for the question is the Boeing 777 that crashed/landed short yesterday at Heathrow. From what the British investigators have released so far is at 600 AGL the pilot pushed up the throttles and the computer decided he didn\'t need power!! Call me a Luddite but I like the idea of a direct connection to flight controls or engines, I have too many things that \"absolutely cannot fail\" fail on me. (seems to me those guys were pretty lucky) Dan

MEng Doug Johnson lost his battle with cancer a week ago. I had the honor of flying with Dougie during my short stay with the RAF. He was a true character with a quick wit, but a kind & generous side. We\'ll miss you Dougie! Link at PPRuNe: http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?p=3853060#post3853060

The following was from a note from the President of the AF Association and whould scare the .... out of us if we think the F-15 problem is the only one out there. January 16, 2008 AFA members and Congressional Staffers, many of you have commented favorably on the \"elevator speech numbers\" I sent you. It\'s January ... so here are some revealing data on the \"State of the Air Force.\" Fighter Aircraft - average age: 20 years; average flight hours 5400+ Bomber Aircraft - average age: 32 years; average flight hours 11,400+ Tanker aircraft - average age: 44 years; average flight hours 18,900+ C2 Fleet - average age: 22 years old; average flight hour…

Our company represents Mansfield Aircraft Products - one of the suppliers of the hot beverage jugs for the C-130 galley. The other manufacturer is BE Industries. We sell these jugs to the GSA and are having difficulty figuring out how you guys get them in the field. Do you order from GSA direct? We also repair the existing units even though they semm to be expendable in the NSN system.

Aeronautical Systems Center is in the market for 115 medium-size transport aircraft to replace USAF’s current fleet of HC-130 and MC-130 combat rescue and special operations tankers. A “sources sought†notice says the Air Force expects to take delivery of the first six aircraft by the end of 2011, followed by eight per year thereafter. ASC plans to hold an industry day on Feb. 5 to discuss the program with potential contractors—large or small or teams.

I\'m hoping someone here might have an answer to a VA question. My brother got discharged from the AF 2 years ago. His DD214 says that because the AF did not take care of his wisdom teeth while he was in that the VA will cover his teeth. So he called the VA and they told him that he should have applied within 90 days of separating. This was not something he was in all his transition briefings so he\'s trying to find out if the VA is full of crap (in this instance at least). I\'m hoping somebody might have had some experience with them with something similar. Thanks for the help. quietus

RZ or anyone, I was looking at a list of A models delivered to SVAF. 35 over time. I could identify all the units that 34 of them came from but not 57-0465. I suspect that it came from the 167 TAS but can\'t find any documentation on it. Would you know? Bob
