Good afternoon, the problem is on an 1966 HC-130P acft. We are unable to get the #2 compass within 6 degrees of the #1 compass and the INU. We have replaced every component in the system at least twice, have re-wired the power and directional wires from the flight deck to the terminal board inside the #2 RH leading edge section, and the power wires from the terminal board to the azimuth. Duruing our compass swings, we are very close to not needing adjustment on the east to west alignment on the compensator. However, the north to south adjustment is maxed out. Have been battling this issue for a few months so any help would be great!

Hey all, We have C-130T A/C. Were having some issues with our #1 and #2 c-12 compass system. For #1, #1 COMPASS SYSTEM STICKS IN VARIOUS HEADINGS. WHEN SLEWED AT CONTROL HEAD COMPASS HEADING UNSTICKS AND WORKS AGAIN. For #2, #2 COMPASS RATCHETS +/- 7 DEGREES IN MAG AND DG (SWAPPED CONTROL HEADS, AMPLIFIERS AND DIRECTIONAL GYROS, NO JOY) RAN UP #2 COMPASS DURING TURNS. VIBRATION CAUSES GYRO TO DEVIATE WORSE THAN WHEN STATIONARY. We replaced the Gyro for #2 and still no joy. Any Ideas? Thanks!

Not a C-130 problem, a C-12 compass problem on a CASA 212. I am a AF retiree working on an Army contract at Ft Bragg. Worked C-130 Comm/Nav and GAC for 19 years. We defined a problem with our C-12 compass system. Compasses are not synching. Still have a heading flag on the HSI when the needle is centered on the compass controller. At an aircraft heading of 0 degrees, the heading flag on the HSI does not go out until the controller is adjusted to 347 degrees. thank you in advance.

8Hey! Hercules world. I am facing problem with one of my prop of C-130B eng. While opening power lever, rpm goes upto 103% with Freq 410 Hz in Prop gov cont sw in Normal. Afterward rpm slowly back to 102% with Freq 402Hz. In Mach Gov RPM remain ok. We change the indicator guessing that if Frq is 402%, rpm should be 100.2%. No otgers flux. Any suggestion pl.

Hello all, I was an RCAF Herk rigger in the late 70’s. I am trying to find a diagram or clear photo showing the location of the early blue formation lights located on top of the wing. If I recall, there were 4, 2 on each side, aft of the box spar. Flush mounted, probably about 3” in diameter with a cobalt blue lens. I am a model builder and want to light up my Herk. I remember them from when I was doing DI’s and was up top checking for cracks or damage to the surfaces. So these were CC-130E and H. This was before the slime lights. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Best regards, Jeff

Hi guys As the dash1 says the descent on clean config should be done with idle power and speeds acording with the area we're flying in and then 250 KIAS from 20000' downwards. The thing is that we follow a squadron rule that says that we should set around 3000 lb torque for the descent. We were discussing that on one of those long flights... (we had already talked about the ladies ) and no one really knew why was that because its been done like that for 30 years. The thing is that i couldn't find the reason for that teqnique. My AC was telling me that his guess would be for pressurization purposes, that in idle the capability of the engine to output the same flow via…

Hi Few days back, when i was taking Off, while breaking ground, master fire warning light came ON along with No 2 fire handle light with audible warning Horn and went Off after 2-3 seconds. all engine parameters were found to be normal and light stayed ON for only 2-3 seconds and went off. Press to test circuit was found satisfactory with no visible signs/ indications of fire. We landed back safely without switching OFF the engine through a shorter landing pattern. Request your observations, advice and suggestions on actions taken and what other actions we should have taken please. Thanks

Hello my name is Maarten, I am a Belgian last year high school student: aircraft technology. For my graduation I have to write a paper about the eingines of the C-130 Hercules. I've found a lot of information about the Allison T56 but it's more difficult to find the wright information about the Rolls Royce AE2100 engine. I need to know the differences between those two engines so I can compare them with each other. Do you know websites I have to visit or can you tell me somthing about those engines, any kind of information is welcome. If someone can help me with it I will be most thankful. Grtz Maarten

This is a collection of experience-obtained information about C-130 troubleshooting for systems assigned to what the USAF used to call "A/R Shop"...flight controls, landing gear, doors, and ramp. This was written for various versions of the E-model fleet back when, but probably applies in most instances to the newer models as well, since the "A/R Shop" systems haven't changed much, if at all. Use your judgement and technical requirements if you choose to refer to this publication...regard this information as helpful hints, nothing official. Hope it helps! Hi guys A question arose the other day. We usually fly with max differential on our pressurization system. We set 1000' on the dial and then keep it until reaching max diff. That occurs around 19000' (don't have my dash-1 handy). We started discussing the benefits of that versus the stress on the fuselage. Anyone of you already discussed this subject, or is there even any guidance regarding the fact that we may fly with lower cabin pressure in order to ease on the fuselage? I know that the dash1 doesn't say anything about it but its common sense that the same number of cycles in fuselages that suffer max diff or "medium" diff will be different. Thanks
