This is a great video with outstanding photos. It is several minutes long but it is very professionally done and it brings back many memories of the USAF we care so much about. Flying photos are superb. http://www.media-magik.com/usaf.html

While going through my slides of the "good ol days", I don't have a picture of the Enlisted Men's Club on Herky Hill at CRB!!! The quonset-hut looking tent which housed the Herky Hootch! Do any of you guys have any pics you could post of it! I remember it in great detail, especially the latrines out back!! You know the barrels sunk in the sand and then moved when they were full!!! Of course a picture of one of your buddies stepping in the place where it used to be, would be even better!!! Only did it once!!!! Ken Carlson

Anyone know if there is any truth to the rumor that SAFAIR is going out of the Herk business? They have been flying Herks since at least 1970. Over time they flew at least 24 different herks and still had 9 at last count. The rumor I heard was they were all parked for sale except the ones they had on oil spill contracts? Thanks Bob

Dave, If you visit here, would you mind if I revise your IPMS article on correcting the Airfix kit? What started out as simply scanning the article to share with like minded people, has turned into retyping the text portion to make it easier to scan and read. Now I've made the font larger and now think that with the wonders of Pages, can put the illustrations next to your explanations for easier understanding. I'm in the process of updating it now, but if you want, I can try to email the updated version to you for your inspection. Or, I can post it here and you can inspect it at your leisure. I know that the old Airfix C-130K has been irrevocably altered into the AC-130…

A while back we talked about the MC-130E's and I mentioned a rumor that I heard that at least 4 MC-130E's were going to the 189 AS in Idaho. Supposedly the 189 was BRAC'd. I just got an e mail today that said 4 stored MC-130E's had been sent to ID. Can anyone confirm it? is the 189 going to become an SOS or are they just going to haul trash with them? Thanks Bob

Alright you guys I know it may be a bit soon, but I just wanted to remind folks to remember our fallen brothers who lost their lives in the Iranian hostage rescue attempt (Operation Eagle Claw) on April 24th 1980. God rest their brave souls. My flag will be at half staff even if others don't know or care. Don't count on the media or the current administration to even so much as whisper the words Desert One.

U.S. Marine Corps plans to convert KC-130J tankers into gunships By Stephen Trimble Flight International 02/04/09 The U.S. Marine Corps has decided to convert some Lockheed Martin KC-130J tankers into combination surveillance platforms and gunships. The renamed KC-130J "Harvest Hawk" would retain the wing-mounted refuelling pods and tanker mission, but add a new targeting sensor and a 30mm cannon, the USMC says. Marine commanders have issued an urgent request for the Harvest Hawk capability, believing that the KC-130J could be used as more than simply a refuelling system for helicopters and tiltrotors. "If we can get more utility out of the tan…

Ramstein receives first upgraded C-130 11/21/2007 - RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany (AFPN) -- Bigger, faster, stronger. That is what the Air Force has in mind with its new J model C-130 Hercules aircraft, unveiled at Ramstein Nov. 9, and meant to replace the C-130E. With an extended cargo bay and added features, the C-130J is set to attack and execute any mission set in front of it, officials said. \"Adding the C-130J to Ramstein\'s airlift mission will greatly aid in mission success\" said Maj. Jason Terry, who is with Headquarters U.S. Air Forces in Europe. Ramstein currently has 17 C-130E model aircraft, all of which are still scheduled to fly until they ar…

Just wondering if anyone else has ever seen an oil cooler flap go completely vertical ? I had my plane land the other day with #3 standing tall from a "stuck" oil cooler. Upon landing and looking, I noticed the flap had broken and gotten stuck at 90 degrees. I found this to be a rather odd break, and was just wondering who else has seen this ?
