Just made tail #0003, still needs props and another trip to the paint barn. 0001 is MIA between Hurlburt and Cannon, made it (Thanks Chad for the help!!) and gave it to the Lockheed guys at the 19th SOS on behalf of the first MC-130W class to come through (hahaha, get it Whiskey Model...). Heard it was pretty popular down there... 0002 is in the heritage room at the 73rd SOS at Cannon, made that in my billeting room while doing the flying training at Cannon....all by hand, needs a re-furb. I made it out of pine, not oak, doesn't look as good, but, didn't exactly have a woodshop in my billeting room and pine is a lot softer than oak 0003 is a gift for a friend of…

When I was at clark They started building a new Gate. From where we stayed in the Trasit Chicken Coops, I remember haveing to ride to the main gate. On the way we passed the construction of another gate. I heard later the Philipones had built the gate and stole a Fire Truck and drove it out that gate.

Were block numbers used for C-130's before the J? I received an e-mail asking and I said "no" but the reply got me wandering. Hi Casey, There are no block numbers? Then what are such these following : 55-046 / 048 : C-130A-20-LM 56-468 / 488 : C-130A-25-LM 56-489 / 509 : C-130A-30-LM 56-510 / 530 : C-130A-35-LM 56-0531/ 551 : C-130A-40-LM 57-453 / 497 : C-130A-45-LM 57-498 / 509 : C-130A-50-LM 57-510 / 524 : RC-130A-55-LM These are the sort of block numbers to which I refer. The highest block number I have seen is for the EC-130Q-360-LM. Once again, would any of your members have a full listing of these block numbers ? Regards …

I have come across several Form 781s from Viet Nam missions that I failed to turn in. I was a loadmaster assigned to a crew pool, flying out of Saigon. For whatever reason, I never turned in the paperwork and never got credit for the hours or the missions. I do believe this puts me over the threshold for an Air Medal. Does anybody know if there is anything I can do about this, or am I just wasting my time?

I know this maybe a unusual post for this site, I'm hoping some of the experts here can help me with my research. A cousin of mine found a large aircraft tire wash up on the east shoreline of Lake Michigan. His son helped roll it up the dune to get it off the beach. When I first heard of it, I immediately thought it might belong to a DC4 - NWA flight #2501, that crashed in the vicinity nearly 60 years. This crash wreckage has been elusive for as many years of searching with sonar. I finally trekked down to the beach and up the dune were the tire has been partially buried. I was totally caught off guard, it was much larger than expected. It measured about 5 1/2' diam…

I've had this photo bouncing around in my Herc photo collection for quite a few years. Although I got it from a friend at Lockheed, no one there (or anywhere else) seems to know the story behind it. All I've been told is that a flight engineer was either doing an engine runup or taxiing and ran it into a hanger. It was repaired using the nose from a TACAMO bird. Anyone out there know the story or the date & location. Thanks, Don R.

FYI 62-1862 just got put on permanent static display in front of the main gate at Scott AFB. It sits with a C-140, C-141, C-9A, and a KC-135E, and sometime, a C-21. IT looks good, but #2 prop was not fully squared, slightly crooked! Some things drive me crazy. www.scottfieldairpark.org

Just got back from a 2 wk cruise in the Med. On one of the ships tours we visited Pisa. On the way back the bus passed an Italian AF base....as we passed I jumped to my feet and saluted smartly as there on the ramp were 12 gray painted Herks. Only one had pylon tanks, all the others looked like the old B models. Anyone have any info on these? Muff

In 26 days, i join the ranks of the retired, finishing my work life as a career firefighter. I am in the process of assembling a book of my life experiences. If anyone out there has any pictures of 36TAS herks from 70-74, or any of the 36th aircrews, any from the '72 field trip to SEA, could I possibly beg, steal, buy, or whatver copies? I had quite a few pictures on film in my camera bag that gotten stolen by one of our SVN friends, and i never replaced it. I think I have about six off another roll. I have seen some of the pictures posted of someof the places we were at. Hope I can find some more Thanks, brothers.. Aboard, closed, and checked

Anyone know the tail numbers of the C-130 trainers parked in a row on the ramp at Sheppard? There are 7 or 8 or so of them.

Has anyone ever dealt with, or have any information on, International Staffing Group and their C-130 jobs in Saudi Arabia? I am very much interested in working on Hercs again, but on the civilian side! If you check out their website, it doesn't seem very professional, and it makes me wonder what I would be getting myself into. I thought I have seen in some people's bios that they are working and living in Saudi, and am hoping to gain a little insight. Thanks. Check it out... http://www.jobsabroad.com/listingsp3.cfm/listing/20232

Hi Guys & Gals, Received this from a fellow vet and felt it should be shared. It’s quite powerful, give a listen and remember the reason we have a Memorial Day. Be prepared, if you have not heard this before, it's tough to get through! I know that this upcoming holiday, Memorial Day, will always have a special meaning to those of us who have served or who have been touched by those who have served. Take a moment to honor those who gave their all.... http://mfile.akamai.com/6713/wma/glennbeck.download.akamai.com/6713/preview/09/05/11-11-02-mem-day-56k.asx

This coming Memorial Day we are praying for Marge's Dad. He is 92 a WWII Purple Heart recipient Vet and his health is deteriorating rapidly. We also pray for all of our great brave men and women currently serving in harms way for defending us from all threats foreign and domestic. Let us also not to forget those serving throughout the US and Worldwide in places standing watch protecting and keeping us safe. I would also like to say thank you to all those men and women I had the great pleasure and honor to serve with. The sacrifices you made with family and friends during your time of duty to our great country protecting our freedom. You are true warriors each and ever…

With USSOCOM/AFSOC losing its AC-27/JCA, I wonder what else is on the chopping block. It seems everytime you turn around something else is losing funding. http://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2009/05/airforce_JCA_socom_050109/

Read awhile back that 62-1862 was going on a one time flight from LRF to Scott to be a plane on a pole. Has it left LRF? Is it on display at Scott? Thanks Bob
