I was looking through some YouTube videos of airdrops and came across a video of Credible Sport. It is a much longer video than the one short one we have all seen of the last landing test which ended in flames. This one shows some more video of landings and takeoffs with the last one a longer version of the one we have all viewed. Not sure if anyone has seen this one or not. I know I haven't. So here is the link:

Has anyone been to Indonesia in awhile? At one time they had 30 Herks. I have not seen anything on them in awhile. I just got an e mail that said they thought their first B, A-1301 3546 had been scrapped. Last report I had on that one was it was damaged in 1987 and never flew again, stored at Bandung. Can anyone update the Indonesian Herks? Thanks Bob

Is the paint scheme going to change for the guard rescue herks now that they're ACC or will they keep the standard AFSOC scheme?

G Morning, I just found out about this site and joined in. I am a big fan, model builder and enthusiast of C-130s. This is one hell of versatile aircraft that has been used in almost all categories through out the world. I need you help here, i am trying to solve a mystery crash of PIA's B707 that was shot down by Saudi rockets over Taif in 1979, on the web it states that it had onboard fire but that is not true!. Some people recently said RSAF compensated Pakistan with few C-130s for the loss of there B707 and soles onboard that flight. Now i can't find a way to track this information down. I am hoping if i can find past and present Saudi and Pakistani C130 fleet w…

Of course, everyone knows that the DC-130A's had T56-A9 engines, right? What was the purpose of the two drain masts on the bottom of the engine? (Sorry, the drain masts can not be clearly seen in this Picture of the Week)

It says in the GE and in the -6 to set tires to a slightly lower pressure for substandard fields, as I\'m sure you all know. It also says to set pressures for the highest takeoff weight of the day. So if you\'re taking off from a concrete runway, then landing on dirt, then coming back to concrete, do you set the tire pressures to the max gross weight for standard fields or for the dirt fields?

13 Jan 2008 Arkansas National Guardsmen of the 189th Airlift Wing gathered together today to honor the memory of fellow airmen lost in the 1988 plane crash of the "Demon 51". The men dedicated a memorial for their military brothers at the Jacksonville Museum of Military History. The Air Guard Wing remembered fallen airmen and their service contributions. The 189th Air Guard Wing continues to provide C-130 training for all military branches and operate the Air National Guard Basic Academic School. Just watched a show on the Military Channel on the gunships. Pretty damn cool, even though i've seen it a few times. Just curious though, didn't know that they had H model gunships in Vietnam, circa 1972. For those that are interested, in 1969 I was at WPAFB, in ASD-AFSC, and we cut up foam and packed the wings on an A model. Never thought to get the tail number but we did it in a hanger in Area B.

X-AF 130 guy would like to know what does the letters in VMGR actually stand for, or is it just a alphabetized designator for marine airlift and or re-fueler 130 squadrons? And thanks in advance.

An innocent query from the civilian sector . . . read on down. Sir: I am D. J. Baker and I would appreciate it if you could tell me what it takes to be an F-16 fighter pilot in the USAF. What classes should I take in high school to help the career I want to take later in life? What could I do to get into the Air Force Academy? Sincerely, DJ Baker A worldly and jaded C 130 pilot, Major Hunter Mills, rises to the task of answering the young man's letter. Dear DJ, Obviously, through no fault of your own, your young & impressionable brain has been poisoned by the superfluous, hyped-up, "Top Gun" media portrayal of fighter pilots. Unfortun…

Hey all, I just wanted to throw this out there that so far I have been medically cleared to pursue my cross training into the Flight Engineer career field. After 10 years of \"Crew Dawg\" work and making TECH I hit my wall and cross road at the same time. I still have the whole approval process yet from AFPC, but so far things look good. I am getting pumped up again about a new path in my career. Any and all suggestions, comments, and tips are very much welcome. I\'ll keep you all posted. DaveB)

Hi All, I got this picture from one of the yards in Tucson. \"Beef Steak\"\' is stamped in a number of places on the fuselage. This was on 57-0463 but it was reported on other fuselages. The only reference I heard to Beef was a Red Horse CE outfit calling itself \"Prime Beef\"? Anyone have a clue? Thanks bob [img size=1024]http://herkybirds.com/images/fbfiles/images/57_0463_beef_steak.jpg

A few months ago, Casey Comer, our web master, wrote in a post about some computer generated drawings he\'s offering to do. Well, just yesterday, I recieved one he did for me. It\'s a drawing of the first commercial Herc I flew -- an L-100-20 of St. Lucia Airways. He did an outstanding job. These drawings would make great retirement presentations or for when someone leaves the unit. Here\'s the one he did for me. The finished product doesn\'t have all the close up details -- just the airplane and Casey\'s signature in the lower corner. Don R.

Hi, I run a non-profit organization and we\'ve had a C-130A donated. It hasn\'t flown in 20 yrs, but the engines were pickled, props stored and the aircraft sealed and dehumidified. The aircraft comes to us with a restriction that it can never fly again, so we\'re looking at salvage or parting it out to support our youth programs. Any suggestions on who to talk to or where to start? Thanks! Lyn Freeman lyn@lynfreeman.com

Hi All, Snoopy (XV208) flew on Wednesday 17 Dec with the A400 test engine fitted in the No 2 position. The flight, which lasted approx 1 1/2 hours, was for handling checks and all went well. On a personal note, it was really great to see the old gal in the air again without that \'orrible lump on her head. Rgds to all.
