I got this article from a link from militarytimes. com...If I had the money and a crew I would purchase one...Not sure where I would store it though... Would like an old Flight Engineer seat though for the rest of my collection. Micah http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2009/02/02/321942/israeli-air-force-entebbe-raid-c-130-among-five-being.html One of the Israeli Lockheed C-130 Hercules aircraft which participated in the audacious rescue of Air France hostages at Entebbe, Uganda, is among a batch of five being auctioned by the ministry of defence. The aircraft, bearing Israeli Air Force identifier 106, was one of four deployed after an Air France Airbus A30…

I was spending the latter part of today "attempting" to organize past and present files, and this caught my eye. It is an old CBPO rip authorizing the wear of the Combat Crew Badge to the flight crews of our squadron based on award of the Combat Readiness Medal, THEN a follow on rip retracting (hmmm....imagine that) the authorization of the badge. What was with the Combat Crew Badge to begin with? These documents are circa 1979.

U.S. Air Forces in Europe Public Affairs 3/27/2009 - RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany (AFNS) -- American and Polish airmen delivered the first of five refurbished C-130E Hercules military transport planes and spare parts March 24 to the Polish air force at Powidz Air Base, Poland. "It's a great day for them to celebrate the arrival of the Hercules. It's vital to them being able to -- own their own -- organically pick up and go," said Air Force Maj. Gen. William A. Chambers, the U.S. Air Forces in Europe director of air and space operations. "They're one of our allies who are very willing to go," he said. "Whether it is Afghanistan or Iraq, they've been alongside the…

As Skip Davenport has said, "I was in special op's, before special op's was cool!" My sentiments exactly. I was told that my career would be ruined when I went into special operations, and.........really didn't care. It was where I wanted to be, because I was "invited" to come aboard. I have never, nor will I ever regret the experience! Big Blue wants AFSOC to be a command like every other command, and I see great dismay with this outlook; and what is to come. In my humble opinion, AFSOC crews should "pay their dues" and gain experience before APPLYING for an AFSOC assignment. For example: Fixed Wing= 1,500 hrs. in C130 variants. Rotary Wing= 1,000 hrs. Flt. Eng.…

I have come across some pictures of the AC-130H/U upside down. Appears to be a twisted engineers idea of a good time. Any ideas why this is?

Hello, I'm getting ready to retire after 20 years of service... Any advice? Suggestions on what pitfalls I can avoid? With everything being on virtal MPF, it's a pain. How does the VA come in to play? Do I get my medical exam while my on active duty with the VA? I'll be leaving Moldy Hole in Jul with a retirement date of 01 Nov 09. Retiring overseas is a pain, I'm going to be at Little Rock. A new process to streamline the retirement process won't let me final out at Little Rock AFB, I've got to do every thing at Mildenhall. Thanks for all the advice, Eric

Hey everyone, 1st time poster. Anyway i was watching AFN and they had a piece on a new C-130 8 bladed prop that is being designed for the NY ANG flying the LC-130\'s. They said it was to help them by giving them more power/thrust for taking off in snow and to stop using the JATO rockets due to $$$. Can anyone shine more light on this development and does anyone know if these new props will go on E\'s and H\'s? I\'m guessing they will have to mod the valve housing alittle Thanks Joe

I was channel surfing last night and came across Ghost Hunters. I heard them meniton about Clark so I watched in hopes of seeing some of the base. I was there on rote from Sewart from Sept.64 till Jan. 65. I don,t remember if the hospital was there or not back then. I had worked with a young man a while back that was from there and he said the base was abandond on account of the volcano. The Ghost Hunters had some evedince of the place being Hauntd. That was the only part they showed.

I don't ever forward e-mails or post political messages but this is real and affects alot of us here on the board. I'm sorry the post is sort of long but in a nutshell our new President and his Congress want to raise the cost of Tricare for retirees. It seems there is a movement on from the new administration to screw some of us for serving our country. How quickly they forget that many of us when we joined the military were promised free medical care for us and our dependants for the rest of our life. Even Tricare is a breach of that promise, but now they want to mess with Tricare and Tricare for life, the military supplement to Medicare. Pass this to all retirees.…

Okay, so I've never read this in any T.O., or heard why, but is there a reason to tie the yoke back during windy weather? I think it sound like a bad idea, but I thought I would ask the experts here. While in Bagram we had a transit crew from an unnamed base AD base in Texas who used a cargo strap to tie the yoke back. The wind and maybe other factors actually led to the yoke braking. Then yesterday here at Scott, two C-130s that were here also were tied back. I don't know this for sure, as a civi the SPs won't let me on the flightline and on to other peoples plane for some reason, but the elevators were up. I know this might be a stupid question, but it really has m…
