These are some photos that I had posted several years ago. I believe they were lost during some transition from site to site. These are mostly from CRB during 1967-68. The ones of the damaged wheel well are from blind bat in Ubon Thailand. The plane took a round in the right wheel well and landed back at Ubon on fire. We repaired it enough to fly back to Naha, Okinawa. Some of the other photos are of Herky Hill at CRB. The totaled airframe was along side a taxiway at CRB. It had a problem during a low level air drop at Khe Sanh.

Watchin' some drivel last night about worst airports of ther world, several I been to, and one of them, Tegucigulpa, Hondorus, supposedly had a USAF plane crash there, in, I think, 1996. The video showed what looked for all the world like a Herk vertical stabilizer. The story stated 3 crew died. Knowing how freely and inaccurately Discovery, History, TLC and the like display historical information anymore, I was wonderin' if anybody out there was familiar with it. I was there atleast twice, in 1973, don't recall any particular diffciulty gettin' in, course I had a Ding How crew, but I DO remember the big black container that we hauled in on one of the missions. Dunno wha…

I read that 48 AS LRF is closing and its aircraft are going to the 62AS in AETC I see that 41AS and 61AS are the AMC squadrons. Is there another AETC Squadron. The 50th Maybe? I saw also that the AFRC 337AS is now an associate squadron and owns no aircraft and the ANG 154TRS is doing H model training. Thanks Bob

From today's AFA Daily Report, 23 Feb 2017 Flight Tablets Approved Throughout AMC Air Mobility Command has approved the use of tablet computers in place of paper flight manuals at all AMC wings, according to a press release. AMC began the electronic flight bag initiative in 2010 as a cost-saving measure, and they estimate that replacing 120 pounds of paper with a tablet saves almost $3.8 million per year across the command. The savings come in reduced fuel consumption and paper printing and distribution costs. AMC has also taken security precautions with the new system. “Working with the Defense Information Systems Agency’s secur…

New SEA questions; Somewhere I had the name of the loadmaster on 62-1853 that was shot down at Soc Trang 12 Aug 72. He was the only crew member who survived. Does anyone remember his name? Most of the crew were from the 776 TAS. On 28 Apr 1975 during the Saigon evacuation 72-1297 was destroyed on the ramp at TSN. 72-1297 was a MAC aircraft from Little Rock, but I have seen it in 2 places that it was a 776 AS squadron aircraft. 776 was at Clark at the time so I was wondering if the crew were from 776 or if the 776 thing was a mistake. Thanks Bob

I am spending too much time today on Google Earth. I was looking at El Alto Airport in La Paz Bolivia. I saw at their AF museum that they have added a C-130A. Pic attached. It is white and the only A's that were white were TAM-69 CP-2184 3228 and Tam-66 CP-2187 3144. 3144 was in pretty bad shape, so I'm guessing the one in the Museum is 3228. Anyone know for sure? Any pics? Bob

Saw an article posted in the Montgomery Advertiser saying Niagara's Hercs going to replace the ones at Montgomery. The 908ths going to Boneyard. Isn't the 908th currently flying H2s? Niagara used to fly early model H3s but I'm not sure what they have now. http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/story/news/local/dispatch/2017/01/12/first-8-new-aircraft-land-908th-airlift-wing-tonight/96486452/

Anyone been to BA recently? For a long time Argentina had stored 4 B's and 2 H's at the South end of the ramp at El Palomar airport. Mostly derelict, sort of like the old Cockroach Corner at Miami. Just recently they disappeared. Looks like they may have been scrapped. Does anyone know, what happened and were all 6 scrapped? Thanks Bob
