Hello all, as I'm in the concept phase of a C130 RC model, I'm in the need for as detailed drawings as possible for making CAD drawings of the model. Does anyone have an idea as where to find such detailed info, or a copy of the actual blueprints ? /Thomas

We just finished a project today and as we loaded the truck during the hour of 1300 the sound of the four fans of freedom started getting louder and we all looked up into the Tehachapi sky and saw a Euro green stretch Herk with RAF markings. Could not get exact tail numbers due to the fact they were right over head. The refueling probe sticking out the front and the red and blue markings on the tail confirmed a RAF Herk. Always a pleasure to hear a herk in the air in our area. Tehachapi, California in case you all were wondering, is the center of the aviation universe, and the home of Adaptive Aerospace. we are nestled nicely in the mountains between Bakersfield and Ed…

Hi all, I\'m looking for pictures of N307SA, the Herk (c/n 3688) modified by Snow Aviation with the NP 2000. I have seen the pictures Bob has in his gallery and the few on the website of Snow Aviation. But I think there will be much more, has anybody other pictures? Regards Stephan

Heard at the TCG conference that the plan is to get the new eTOLD out by next August. Computer based and very easy to use. Should cut doing a TOLD down to a few minutes.

I was looking around awhile back on google earth and noticed that there was a Herk parked out on Camp Perry here in Virginia. Camp Perry is only a few miles up I-64 from my house here in Newport News and I'm thinking about paying it a visit and trying to get some pictures of it. Now thats if they don't run me off eh!!! May give it a shot this coming weekend. Anyone know what Tail it is? Thanks Mark

I had the wonderful privilege of flying 7817 here at LRF yesterday. This is the aircraft on which Col "Budda" Caldwell earned the Air Force Cross. I wondered if there are retirement plans for this old warship and how Bill is doing?

Tonight, my wife and I were at the Summit (a new Senior Activity center that Gand Prairie just built) hanging out in the pool. We were talking to some friends when I looked over and saw a man I had talked to in the locker room awhile earlier struggling to stay on top of the water. I took a quick look and swam the 20ft to where he was at. Just as I got there he came up and called out for help. I grabbed him just as the lifeguard saw what was happening. The lifeguard ran over to the edge close to where we were at and jumped in. I passed him off to the lifeguard who then took him into water that he could stand up in. He was ok and swallowed only a little water. He and his wi…

Was hit last night with a tornado. I do know some flight line buildings were torn up, but haven't heard about any aircraft yet. Some homes in base housing were destroyed too, but no reports of deaths or injuries yet. Let's hope not.

I had an appointment at the AV Hospital yesterday May 4th. As always I went to have my travel pay papers approved then took them to turn in and get my pay. While in line with about 20 others I noticed where the travel pay was the same, but ther was a $6.00 deduction from the total. I mentioned it kinda loud and the 20 other vets in the line all said there was the same deduction on their vouchers. When I got to the pay window I ask the paymaster and she said that congress had voted on it and that was all she knew. I didn't voice my thoughts to her cause I know she is only doing her job. Anyone else know anything about this??? PS. My spell Check is lost and I don't…

Came across an original copy of this at a local bookstore. It was published by Lockheed Corporation in 1981, and gives technical information on the A thu E models. Don't see much about it on the internet and was wondering what the history of this book is.

Jerry Mitchell and I were talking about how great it would be to get a herk to Langley for our 316th Reunion. Out of curiosity I asked for a quote on flying a civilain Herk for an hour. About $12,500 basic charge plus one hour flying. Ouch!! Bob

Here's a question for all you guys/gals still flying the C-130. Late last Saturday afternoon, there was a C-130 flying north of MacDill AFB at around 5,000' (kinda hard to judge the altitude from 20 miles away). He was up there for about 3 hours, but the interesting thing was that there was an A-10 about 1/2 mile in trail the entire time. Any ideas? C-130's are pretty rare at MacDill, so I was really enjoying the noise. My next door neighbor, on the other hand, told me she thought the noise annoying. I held my tongue. Bitch!!! Thanks, Don R.

I have been looking for the average speed a C-130 needs to be going for take off. I see lots of information on how it can take off and land on short fields but cant find how fast it needs to be going to liftoff. I dont need to be exact just a general range. I am writing a piece of fiction and there is a scene where a C-130 is taking off and speed is part of the story. I just dont want to put something in there that is obviously wrong. Thanks Julio

From an e-mail forwarded by Dave LeMaster: AC-130U Gunship lands at LaGuardia I don't ever remember this happening before, but "Way to GO NY"! Our last AC-130 crew traveling home from Iraq was diverted to LaGuardia Airport for a mechanical problem. They were thankful that such a busy airport allowed them to land there. They were absolutely surprised and overwhelmed by the incredible "Heroes Welcome Home" that they received. The crew didn't expect any sort of fanfare, but you can see from the pictures that LaGuardia went all out. Thank you to those wonderful folks at LaGuardia who made our troops feel so special! Hi Guys, I am working on 3D Model of the C-130H. It is going to be very detailed and very precise model with high-rez texture (all technical marks will be readable). I have found lots of references for whole airplane except of landing gear principal kinematic scheme and technical inscriptions on the engine and on top of airplane. If any one can help me with it I would very appreciate it! Thank you! Dmitriy www.precise3dmodeling.com

WARNER ROBINS -- For the first time in its 29-year history, the Museum of Aviation is downsizing. The museum is getting rid of 29 planes and three missiles, which is about a third of its total collection. Museum Director Ken Emery said the move is largely due to Air Force personnel cuts in 2011 that eliminated eight civilian positions at the museum, most of whom were restoration specialists. The museum doesn’t have enough personnel to properly maintain the aircraft, especially those outdoors, Emery said. “We’ve only been growing since we started,†Emery said last week as he showed some of the planes slated for removal. “This is really the first time w…

Been reading the Air Force Association 2013 USAF Almanac on the J Model performance. It says The range with 35000 lb payload is 1,841 miles and the J-30 with same payload, range is 2,417 miles. Where do they pick up 576 more miles of range with the same amount of fuel and engines but dragging the weight of 15 more feet of aluminum around? By the way who does the TOLD card on the J. He would know...right ? Bill

Hey guys, Im looking at creating a 3D object and want to use a variety of C-130s!! To make my workload light I was thinking of killing three birds with one stone. Am I correct when I say that the AC-130U is roughly the same model as a C-130H and a C-130(T) or KC-130H. Please let me know know so that way I don't build three different types. I also need super detailed blueprints if anyone has them and if there is any info on C-130Hs out there at all. And I mean all of it. start up procedure. FLight manual etc... I really appreciate the help and what you guys have going on here is great! Best 63
