Hello C-130 world, we have some issues with the valvehousing, frequently when they do the static checks the VH goes from feather tot take off and vica versa. sticky hydraulic can cause the problem. on the test bench, the hydraulic oil is always on temperature (+ 40°C) and they don't see any defaults. next Q: we are using H515 hydraulic oil, who is using the same oil and don't have these problems who is using the synthetic oil? (any ref about the synthetic oil) thx 4 coop

We have an H1 74-1664 that came from Little Rock that has two 10 Amp DC circuit breakers labeled VHF FM. The wiring diagram 2RF4.00 only shows one. The second breaker was collared and we are trying to find out why so we can properly annotate our forms for an upcoming inspection. All other aircraft have only one CB. Does anyone know what the second one was for? Was there ever a third VHF, a TCTO, or perhaps a test installation that never came to fruition?

The GE voltage regulator burns each time we run the engine. We have replaced 3 voltage regulators and they all got burnt. We also replaced generator. When we installed Bendix, we had high voltage. Anyone with idea of what could be causing this?

Someone at work mentioned some kind of Airforce wartime manual. Basicly what things you can do to get the plane going when your getting shot at. An example would be plugging bullet holes in the plane with sharpened bamboo sticks to allow pressurization. Does anyone know this manual I speek of? Also a J model specific book would be awesome. If anyone has a copy of either an H or J book id love to read through it. TIA

hey guys, was wondering if there's any reference in the manuals that you guys can share regarding the limitations of wear and tear which requires replacement of the tires....currently we replace as soon as the threads are visible during post flight check....we are using goodyear 24-ply rating tires at the moment. appreciate it, thanks!

This particular sbag has been disturbing the team for the oast few weeks. What could be the cause, we have replaced the control unit, antenna and also TR unit. Checked every component in the system for serviceability but it still persists.

Just read an announcement that the helicopter that crashed August, 08, in california, doing firefighting activities, was nearly 30% over gross allowable..........The crash killed a number of firefighters and the flight crew.. Seems as if the operator had intentionally, apparently, gave false information about the weight and other performance data of the S-61, which is, i think, a civilian version of the H-3? I reckon that just shows to go ya how important that weight and balance stuff really is, especially when you are operating near the aircraft limits. Maybe that's why us loadies flew with the plane, as a sort of guarantee. Are any of you aware of any similar, if …

Hello all, I'm new here! On a KC-130T, after replacing filters on all systems on cycle, we noticed a weird noise on the upside while cycling the flaps. Flap movement is smooth at the motor AND the physical surface itself, and the T-Handle has been pushed in and verified with free movement of the nipple, but it makes a weird noise. It sounds almost like a trumpet and a pig squealing at the same time. Its only on the upside and it did it first at 40% flaps, then 30%, then 20% then stopped, then againt a 20% and it continues for a few seconds AFTER the flaps have stopped moving when doing a full cycle from 100% to 0%. This is will all engines running. Any ideas? Maybe th…

I know that they are retracted by prop oil pressure, and that it takes 240-260 psi to retract them, but what causes the pressure to build to that level? (or keeps it from building to that level when you don't want it to?) My previous ride, the DC-6 had Hamilton Standards which had a very similar low pitch stop, but on that plane, the standard unaided governor pressure wasn't enough to retract the stops, you had to have higher Px oil from the electric feather pump, which was switched on when you pulled the throttles into reverse range. . No feather pump, no reverse. On the Herc, it seems (and maybe I'm missing something ) that the standard prop oil px is enough to…

Hi. I have a question. Igniting state is called 'lightoff' What is the meaning and etymology of 'lightoff'? It is an engineering sense to describe ignition as 'lightoff' rather than 'light' Waiting for your answer!!

Hello everyone, following the opening of one of the lower hatches of the cone tail of a C130H we discovered this. Could you give us information about this element because we did not find anything in the technical documentation.

I recently got a few close up shots of Herc 742134, a C130H-LM out of Dyess, assigned to AMC. As is visible in the attached photo, there are a number of pieces sticking out from the side of the a/c (possibly antennas of some kind?), including the landing gear doors. Can someone tell me what they are for. Also, does the suffix LM stand for Lockheed Martin or something else. Thanks Gary Hebbard

As everyone knows many parts on the C-130 get a nickname. We have come across one we aren\'t sure what exactly they are referring to in the discrepancies. We are trying to figure out what a \"Bread Pan\" is. My initial guess is the heatshield behind the engines but when I saw writeups like \"(/) RT WING OWS137 LEADING EDGE OF BREAD PAN U BRACE CRACKED\", \"(/) RIGHT WING, CRACK IN BREAD PAN U-CHANNEL WS 214.\", or \"PATCH IS BAD ON BREAD BASKET AROUND MIDDLE JACKSCREW OF THE INBD FLAP\". Then there is Disc: \"ACFT REQ NEW BREAD BANS\", Corr Action: \"NO LONGER REQUIRED DUE TO INSTALL OF TUBS AND TRACKS\". So now I am not sure what a \"bread pan\", \"bread basket\",…

Can anyone help me. Does anyone know the difference between a 19A513 and a C19A513, Globe Industries DC Centrifugal Fan? We are using publication T.O.15H3-2-15-33 which states Part Number C19A513, but the Centrifugal Fan Dataplate shows 19A513. I'm confused.

We just received a C-130 from another unit who had already performed the carbon fiber brake TCTO. (This is our only modified aircraft) The first time we towed the aircraft, all four main tires are making an unusual popping noise like loud popcorn popping. If you put your hand on the the transducer cap you can feel it as if someone was on the other side hitting it with a ball peen hammer. First I axle jacked each wheel and spun them by hand, but couldn't duplicate the noise. I removed all the tires, inspected the brakes and wheels and replaced the bearings and hardware. It still makes the noise. Anyone ever encounter this?
