This is regarding APN-241 on C-130H2. Since we've gotten the APN-241, life has been good...until now! Initial write-up is error codes M-06/M-45. We replaced every LRU and have checked for continuity in much of the system. The problem is: BIT fails (LRU6/1A12 replacement codes)...the system seems to turn on completely (power is good) but the pilot control panel cannot take control and the pilot display unit will not display anything other than the startup screen. There is a PCPPWR? notification on the pilot display. When initially pushing WX on NRCP the PCPPWR? goes out but comes back within a few seconds. Has anyone seen this problem or something similar? Our shop has been having this radar stab problem on a '63 model since last Friday and we've been working it everyday since. The original write-up was a simple "Radar stab inop". Right away we tried flying the gyro and got nothing; no gyro-following from the antenna at any point after turn on when it was in STAB. It would scan, sector, tilt and beam change just fine. The first shift to work it changed a gyro: no fix. Then they changed an ECA: no fix. They then changed the antenna: no fix and after a few minutes of power up apparently the new antenna started smoking :eek:, so they QDR'd that one and ordered another antenna for my shift to change. APU is Auto shutting off, RPMs not getting above 13-30, can't hear ignition popping off. Got fuel and oil pressure. Replaced tons of parts from the Exciter to the Fuel solenoid valve and Starter. No clue!

We have this aircraft with APU start normally on ground but unable to start in Flight. The APU intake door opened to 15 degrees, rpm goes to 30 percent but no rise in EGT. Failed air test thrice. In the course of fault isolation, we have changed out the no.2 aux touchdown relay, door control relay, door closed control relay, ignition unit, fuel control unit, and APU door actuator. Have anyone out there had this experience and know what is the problems. We have decided to change out the APU. But what if it happen again.

Hello, Does anybody know the airspeed limitation for flying with an inoperative APU door actuator stuck in the full open position, 35 degrees. If so please let me know reference. I know for annual FCF's APU's are checked at 20,000' and max of 200 knots, but door is only opened to 15 degrees in flight. Thanks

We have an APU door opening issue. The APU door will not open unless you pull the touchdown relay C/B. I followed the FI and it leads me no where. I could really use some help. I am new to the APU I am us to GTC's.

whenever i am running the APU, the fire warning light on both master warning light and the APU T-handle light come up and remain steady once i put ON the air condition. however, if the air condition is not running, the operation of the APU remains normal. i have tried to check for bleed leaks from he APU to the manifold and no leak was found. pls i need urgent help on what next to look up to pls

Hi, Wondering if anyone can tell me the APU frequency of the GTCP85-180L (H model APU) in a no load situation, basically APU running, no bleed air or electric being used. What is the max variation in the frequency when fully loaded with AC? Basically looking for the frequency at idle and the maximum droop. What window is considered acceptable by by the pilot and crew? I am currently facing a challenge where my APU generator OUT light comes ON, but the frequency and voltage is with allowable limit, also, there is load indication. We have changed the contactor, Voltage regulator and the even the APU regulator but the discrepancy persist. Pls I will appreciate any quick response . Thanks

Hello Hercules APU & GTC Expertise When GTC is in starter cranking cycle (<35% RPM) Bleed & off load control valve is remain energized but APU (GTC 85-180L/LE) The valve is remain De-energized through out starting cycle till APU On speed relay is energized and the bleed control SW is mounted on APU control panel ,placed to open position. GTCP85-180L starts and run well. However, no bleed air from the APU. Load control valve replaced with new one but no change. In addition, APU doesn't shut down normally unless by the pull of fire handle. Any help please?

APU GTCP85-180L run normally. Bleed air check > 35 psig For starting engine, pressure at pressure gage is superior to 30 psig. But with air conditionning cargo ans flight station comp on norm position, the pressure is under 22 psig. The EGT is adjust to 620°c RPM to 100%. Bleed air valve APU is checked. After that, the pressure is always under 22 psig. With only one air conditionning comp, how much is the pressure drop ? Thanks
