WC-130h PRT AF Hi everyone pls help As to start calibrating the torque indicator it indicates aprox. -800lbs. After reseting to the 29850lbs with cal A with -4000lbs and cal B with 25850lbs still with neg torque all checks done and recheck wiring , gapping and so on. To put positive torque cal A must have -2340lbs and cal B 27200, by the way it torquemeter has 27540lbs from back shop. Are these values normal for service?

Hello. C-130H mechanics! I have a question about C-130H prop' dynamic balancing. We are currently using the VXP equipment C-130H prop' balancing data collection is HSGI and 7000 in-lbs We performed a check both of which exceeded the limit(within 0.2 ips) However, reducing ips of 7000 in- lbs increases ips of HSGI Is it normal for HSGI's ips to go too high when ips is reduced to 7000 in-lbs? Can it be corrected inversely? If so, which section should IPS be based on?

Hi there, During landing, it was a very smooth landing - 4 engines to Flight Idle, 1000/1200 PSI each. - 4 engines to Ground Idle, the torque is increased and no-reverse is experienced in four engines. - The power cannot be lowered and the landing run is made with between 5000/6000 PSI (GI) - Brakes are burnt The blades never went to reverse pitch, is it possible that because of the smooth landing the touchdown relay was relieved during a short "flotation" period (1 or 2 seconds) and it prevented the four propellers from going to reverse angle..? Juan

hello guys. i work on the c-130j. i am curious about the releationship between Np sensor and generator. while starting the engine, HDD displayed Np 'xxxx' and at the same time it indicated 'Gen Fail' ACAWS message. this problem disappeared after Np sensor exchange. is the failure of the Np sensor related th the generator(GCU)? i waiting for ur opinion!

Hello, I'm new to this lovely website and forum, I found that quite a lot of you here are quite knowledgeable ( spent some time reading threads ) about Hercs and wondered if you could help me on a confusing situation. I'm part of a structural engineering support and our MRO is new to C-130s. We have a model 382C in horrible condition and I can't proceed too much in details because of our contract, I will most likely have to remove ( or edit, at best ) the thread in case I wrote anything too "accurate". Sadly, our situation is very complicated and because of this very peculiar situation, we have limited access to documentation and communications are hard to deal …

The utility hydraulic system keeps venting fluid into the drip tray during flight. It doesn’t appear to be bleeding through from the Aux system. I am a bit stumped any ideas ?

I'm looking for a path to follow. Eng writes up TD system inop for a failed temp controlling check. I can get it to correct every time during mx runs and all other TD checks are solid. Has a new amp and Y-boxes good.

What is the approximate fuel consumption of the C-130 APU on the ground under load? I'm interested in data for the H3 and J, if possible, in lb/hour or gal/hour. Thanks in advance!

Good afternoon, the problem is on an 1966 HC-130P acft. We are unable to get the #2 compass within 6 degrees of the #1 compass and the INU. We have replaced every component in the system at least twice, have re-wired the power and directional wires from the flight deck to the terminal board inside the #2 RH leading edge section, and the power wires from the terminal board to the azimuth. Duruing our compass swings, we are very close to not needing adjustment on the east to west alignment on the compensator. However, the north to south adjustment is maxed out. Have been battling this issue for a few months so any help would be great!

I have an Flight Engineer's seat, probably from an E model, that I want to eventually put in a corner of my den. It looks in good shape, but I'm looking for information on it to fix it up. Can anyone give a paint spec, the seat belt & shoulder harness model/type, and any information such as NSN or model of the tracks that it rode on? Thanks.

Hi everyone, After seeing this video, I have some questions. I know that the turboprops of the Herc are constant speed ones, meaning the pitch of the blades is adjusted in order to gain speed. In the video above, a Fat Albert is going through startup procedures. At 0:05 engine No.3 starts up and at 0:43 it seems like the engine is at idle speed. Then at 0:46 the engine increases its RPM which can be heard and seen. This startup procedure is repeated for the engines No.4, No.2 and No.1. When the video reaches 2:11, the engines somehow decrease their RPM. And with this RPM, the Fat Albert starts to taxi. Is there some kind of switch t…

hello C-130 World, 1st During flight, crew noticed an issue with the elevator, needing more force input to stay level. 2nd During flight, crew noticed an issue with the aileron, needing more force input to roll out (they were in a turn). After aborting the mission and turning back, they also noticed more force needed to move the rudder. Controllability check was performed and crew landed normally. history tells us that the technicians mixed H515 with H537 hydraulic oil, the percentages can not be defined. the whole mechanical system is checked, cable tension ect... motion was checked and free of any rubbing hydraulic system will be flush…
