I've got a problem with atm genetator system popping 2 phase A c/b's on the upper main @245 and from that the domino affect of the ess bus middle breaker on phase A pop, aux pump phase b and c. Good freqs and volts on the gen with no greater load than .5 on the meter, all four engines are in lsgi . The gen never drops off line.I have good ac volts on all 3 phases but on terminal A+ I only have 10vdc and as I load up the essential bus I see my voltage increase and it never gets higher than 17vdc. Per the wiring diagram I'm supposed to have a constant 28vdc. The volt reg was changed for phase c term stud broken, gcp changed for failed op check and atm gen just got replaced.…

Hello, Wondering if anyone has seen a training manual set for c-130j. I have c-130a, c-130e and multiple c-130h training manual sets that have around 9 volumes per set of different systems. I have never seen one of these sets for c-130j but maybe foreign operators were given some of these from lockheed back in the day. If you have seen one or know someone with one, please contact me.

We have had an issue with the air crew writing up cargo comp A/C pack distributing weak air flow on a 89 model (c-130h). We have already changed a bad low temp control valve, flow control shutoff valve. Also we checked for the water separator/sock for and icing or contamination. Did not find any leaks with the heat exchanger and the turbine is running like a champ. We suspect the crew is writing it up because it’s been really hot lately and until they get the engines going they will have less air with the APU. Some people want to throw a turbine at the aircraft but its working fine with great suction and the air is cooling. I was hoping to find someone with …

Again... Hello freends n senior members.. I got doubt in my head since couple of month ago we got argument on feathering cx. In the technical manual stated that feathing cx must be not more than 23 seconds. We got an engine changed recently and d time is 30 sec. Our technician been change components to tht engin n still persist n as an operator we rejected tht engine coz in our opinion 23 sec is for prop feather n stop but d tech guys insist tht tht engine is ok n the time is only for prop to feather only not stoping. So please anybody knows any good opinion with good refernces so i cn get thru to clear ths argument?

Hey HerkyWorld Got an unusual situation here. Engine starts normal, LSGI torque set correctly. When the LSGI button is pulled to upshift to Normal Ground Idle, torque stabilizes for a moment at +-1200"lb ........ then increases to +-6000"lb, rpm decays to 94%, and TIT increases. Also prop noise indicates the engine is labouring. When LSGI button is pushed in, everything returns to normal. Standing on the blade line, you can see the pitch change occurring. Changed out valve housing, pitchlock regulator, and low pitch stop. Also removed all cannon plugs to remove electronic influence - no good! Stays the same ..... Anyone out there seen this before? any ide…

Ok, I have a question regarding the emergency FLAP brake valve. After takeoff the flaps stopped retracting at 40%. C/B checked good so I went to the emergency flap brake valve. (Don’t worry I didn’t reset it). The valve reset lever was full forward (to the right when looking at it) and had no “free playâ€. I took this to mean it was engaged, however, after shutdown MX ran the flaps through and the valve was in the same position…flaps working fine. (FYI, water in the switches was not a factor) My question is… What does the emergency brake valve look/feel like when it is engaged? Thanks for the help!

HELLO C-130 WORLD! WHO USES WHAT TO CALCULATE THE POWER PERFORMANCE ON A T56-A-15 III IN BDEF WE HAVE TO USE THE CALCULATOR PROGRAM RR (EXCELL SHEET) I HAVE DOUBTS ABOUT IT BECAUSE MOST OF THE PERFORMANCES ARE ALWAYS VERY HIGH WHEN USING THE OLD SYSTEM HP CALCULATOR OR MEASURING ON THE GRAPHS, MOST CALCULATIONS ARE 1% - 1.5% LOWER, AND MY FEELING MORE CORRECT. G'day, Was just trying to work out the rudder diverter valve a little. I know it is solenoid operated. But in what position is it when power is taken away from it? (Full pressure or the lower 1275) and what position would it fail in? If its full pressure is there any thing the crew would need to keep in mind while flying with full rudder pressure? Thanks for the help in advance.

Does anyone have a good photo (or technical cocuments) of the "Roman Nose" C-130A looking aft at the nose? I am trying to get some good details of the two or three items on the nose. One I have been told is a taxi light but I cannot make out what the other(s) are. Are they ream air vents or other lights? This is the best I have found..... http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1054/1163487610_59a4aa6276.jpg?v=0 Any help is appreciated! David Horn II

Hey there! I'm a newbie here, my first post. I'm not sure If I hit the right forum. For scale modelling. Inquiry: Most of US -H Hercs have only two windows on the (the other actually looks like a small door) starboard and no two long cables at the top. But I noticed that few have two long cables at the top and three windows on the starboard. They are -H variants but they have differences? BTW, the kit I'm working on is the Minicraft 1/144 C-130H USAF [MC14649]. The kit's tooling has three starboard windows. Thank you

Does anyone know if the P-3's use the exact same props as the Herc? Basically, are they the same diameter? They look a little smaller. Thanks.

Looking for an answer to a question I have had for many years--since 1970!!! I was at Naha for a Wing-Tip Light TCTO on 62-1804 from CCK. While I was there waiting for a crew to fly it back to CCK, there was a C-130 parked in the transit area where I was parked, and it had two sets of prop blades on each engine! One set in front of another. I don't remember if they were three bladed or four. The plane was painted a bright brown camo. pattern and I think it was from Australia or somewhere like that! Maybe New Zealand. There was some insignia on it but I can't remember what it was. If I remember right it was a bird or some kind of animal! I think I had sobered up from a…

Gentlemen, According to the Flight Manual, Flight Idle RPM is 92.5-100.5 %. If RPM in flight idle were to decrease as low as 92.5% what would prevent the acceleration bleed valves from opening below 94%. Do they actually open during Flight Idle operations in this case? Thanks all.

Hey all, been awhile since I've posted, but I got something for you all. A few of us Engineer types were sitting around shooting the "sheet" and we got on the topic about the IRON LUNG system. Now someone brought up and wandered what the actual power source for that system is? Do any of you out there in HERKY land know the answer to this and could point me in the direction of reading material? Much appreciated! Dave
