I am working on an update to the Canadian herks. All four B's left a long time ago, 1 W/O and three to Columbia. All the E's are parked (Broken Up, Stored or W/O) except 307 which is still flying. 313 is preserved at Trenton and 328 is preserved at Greenwood. There are some hulks waiting to be beer cans at Cascade, last count 308, 319, 325,327 and 342 (an H) were waiting. Ones I am not sure of are 305, last at Winnipeg, maybe for the Museum? 323 last seen at Trenton? BTW 315 is a GIA at Trenton. Any help on 305 and 323? Thanks Bob

Recently read that 148897 one of the last flying KC-130F's was written off in a ground accident at VX-30 at Point Mugu. Anyone know about it? Was the airplane scrapped? Thanks Bob

Hi folks, I was looking up some pictures of 64-18240 (PN4105) for a friend and was looking at the data base on C-130.net on the plane and seen it was apparently at one time assigned to the Swedish Air Force and also used by Air America. That is the only place I have found that info, I can't seem to find anything to back it up. You guys have any more on this? Here is a link to what I found. http://www.c-130.net/aircraft-database/C-130/airframe-profile/7031/

Spookies Reprieved Four AC-130U Spooky gunships previously slated for retirement will soldier on to meet added operational demand in Iraq and Syria and cover for delays needed to put a 105-millimeter gun on the new AC-130J. "Because of the demand created by the new threat, I chose not to retire those airplanes—that's one reason, and the second is that the AC-130J was going to move to the right a little bit on the schedule," Air Force Special Operations Command boss Lt. Gen. Bradley Heithold said at ASC15. "The crews that are going to man the AC-130J are coming out of these legacy platforms, so the plan was to retire three AC-130Us in Fiscal Year 15 and two more…

Well today we started to paint Ghost Rider in the colors she wore toward the end of her tour in Viet Nam, solid black with red FT and serial number on the vert fin. We are lucky to have a pic of her in these colors while in VN. All other numbers etc. will be in red We at the Marietta Museum of Aviation pressure washed the old gray chalking paint off for these past several weeks and sanded her quite a bit. We had 2 sprayers going and covered a great deal in only 4 hours today. We had a great team working on the old Herk and it shows. Included are a few pics. Will keep the site updated as we gett'er done and put all the lipstick on. Bill

Anyone know what King Fisher or Fisher King aircraft refers to with regard to HC-130Ns? I'm looking in a database and there is a comment that states this is a Fisher King/King Fisher Aircraft.

Does anyone have any pics of Ghost Rider as it appeared in the 1992/1993 time frame? I was a GAC troop at Dyess AFB and it diverted in late one night for an RT289 change. The Pro Super couldn't get a hold of the comm/nav weekend duty person so they called me since I had comm/nav cross training. So, technically, I can say I worked on a AC-130A. I have found a few pic on the internet, but I don't know if they are the right period. Some pics have an overall gunship gray paint scheme with four bladed props, while other pics of it have it in a Shamu paint scheme with three bladed props. It's been over 20 years and my memory of that plane isn't that great, I do remember the ai…

Anyone ever had this happen, either from a Benson tank, internal aux tank, or other source? Fuel under the floor and leaking out the belly of the aircraft from under the cargo compartment, front to back. What's the inspection protocol? Is there one? Any knowledge appreciated.

These two were towed to the airpark at Hurlburt today (15 Aug 2015). The AC-130H is 69-6575 (LM# 4349), the MC-130P is 65.0994 (LM# 4157). The gunship is on it's permanent pads, the papa will be pulled onto it's pads later (weather permitting...). Pictures taken under overcast skies in evening.

Back in 66 there was an accident at Dyess. 63-7886 crashed on a night low level. All on board were killed except one of the LM's A2C Gary Speer. The son of the FE wrote looking for info about the crash, also wondering about Gary Speer. Seems I remember he was still alive but "Old Timers"? Anyone have any info on Gary Speer? Thanks Bob

Hello, about the title "Tank open VS Power in c-130" i would like to now what type of procedure do you have. I have found some publications that say that we can put power in aircraft with tank opens, if the tank´s are drained to the greatest potencial. USAF Reference But in the manual which i use every day, says that before i open a tank i should take power out, that makes ALL the sense, and i don´t have any thing that says that i can put power before the tank is closed. What´s is your opinion, and in what base (publication) do you refere to? Thanks

I ran across this article "NASA C-130 lands, maintenance set " and although it says it was a USAF C-130, it is pretty evident that it was USCG. I thought NASA only had two 130s, c/n 4127 (65-0997) and c/n 4131 (65-0979). Anyone know when they received this aircraft (the article says 2013) and the c/n?

I stumbled on this video of a pictorial history of MC-130's on Youtube. This video has some awesome photography in it with pics of apparently all the MC's. Any of you guys that flew or worked on Black birds will appreciate this I think. I found the paint schemes over the years very interesting. Enjoy guys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_axy1PDb48
