Good Evening, Sam again... I collect C-130 Unit patches,as well as well as parts of Herks. To put you all in the picture, I'm a 50 year old civilian with a passion for 130's. I have 2 130 patches, but am looking for more . If anyone is willing to sell me some patches, I'd really appreciate that. Thank you . Sam:)

Got this from Jerry Mitchell. Can anyone identify it? "I recently picked up (at the flea market) a five/sixteenth inch push (ball) pin with attached remove before flight flag (full size) with the following no. on it NAS 1396-20 and MFR 0904 also hand engraved on the side of the Handel G 601 R 101103-1 . I live fairly close to Warner Robins so I would think it came from there. I would think that someone on the site would know what its off of? I'm looking for some help here to solve the mystery" pic attached Bob

The National Museum of the USAF (Wright-Patterson AFB OH 45433 near Dayton) does a great job with it’s website virtual tours. I especially like the 360 degree cockpit tours @ http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/virtualtour/cockpits.asp But apparently, they haven’t videoed a C-130 cockpit yet. Does anyone know if other museums do virtual tours and have done a C-130 cockpit? A virtual tour of the outside of a AC-130A is in the Cold War section of the museum @ http://www.nmusafvirtualtour.com Just click on the blue button on the Map by the top-view outline of the C-130.

The wife and I like the ScFy channel and most of it's ridiculous movies. They're entertaining, story lines that are WTF, albeit low budget with "acting" that's, well, acting like they're trying to act. Anyway, yesterday must have been crocodile day. We watched one called Robo Croc. Anyway, around the 1:30 mark they showed some Hercs. One parked, one taxiing, each with the MAFF red numbers, a 1 and a 2, H models. Then a J model taking off and climbing and turning, then a legacy flight deck while airborne. Back and forth a few times. Bought the only time I perked up and watched. Only saving grace part of the movie.

Saw on another website that there was a C-130 stored at Huntsville. I think I heard about that before, but it is lost in old timers. Anyone know which one it is? Thanks Bob

I saw 2 pics on airliners.net that raised a few questions. Does anyone live near Greybull WY? I looked at Google Earth but the image is from 2011. It showed 6 Herks still at Greybull. 5A's and a B. I had A's 3115 56-0507 N132HP, 3143 56-0535 N133FF, 3166 57-0459 N135HP, 3218 57-0511 N134HP, 3220 57-0513 N8230H, and B 58-0740 still there. I have not had any confirmation on them for years. The A's used to belong to H&P but were sold. I don't know who bought the B, I flew it in the Guard, but after it was wrecked in Hurricane Andrew at Homestead, someone bought it and flatbedded it to Greybull. They were all canceled off the FAA Register. Can anyone update us on the…

I was cleaning up in my attic the other day and I came across a manual (booklet?) I was given sometime in the distant past. It is a general information book on the C130 - stuff like cargo capability, how to install seats, the dual rail system, etc. If anybody wants it, all I ask is the $6 for a Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope to mail it in. Jim Houston LM 1966-81 (Casey: I don't know if this is the right forum, if it isn't, please move it.)

Last night I watched on the Smithstoinian Channel about the C-5 M. It was interesting to me because I worked on 25 of the first 27 at Lockheed. Next Tuesday at 10:00 pm they will have a program about the C 130. That will be Oct. 8 at 10:pm. If anyone is interested. Just FYI.

You guys amaze me with your memories, as much as I flew on every bird that I was assigned to I could not remember the tail numbers. I finally set down and went thru some of my flight records from my time assigned to PACAF and I found two aircraft that I either crewed or was a crew member, 63-7796 and 62-1847. I could not find any records on the birds I was on at Sewart while assigned to the 4442nd, but remember my first c/c Ssgt. Fred Furchess, and asst. c/c Ssgt. Jim Ridgeway. I couldn't find anything on 63-7796, but found that 62-1847 is assigned to 37 AS in Europe, the name of the site is Touch Down Aviation. I couldn't download the pics but there is four of them, all …

Saw these two pics on the Lockheed Flickr site today. First one said for AETC, I guess the 41AS The second one said for AMC 61 AS. Is the 61AS now converting to the J? Are they still flying H's? Thanks Bob

1966-10-2 USAF 776 TCS C-130E 62-1840, c/n [cn]3803[/cn], shot down 1970-10-2 USAF 776 TAS C-130E 64-0536, c/n [cn]4025[/cn], crash. While I understand the pain associated with the loss of an aircraft and FRIENDS I do realize there are lessons to be learned from most aircraft losses. I use a number of mishap reports (details) in my FE training classes and wonder if there is a way to link the post "Today in C-130 History" to the reports? Maybe a members only area or a link to the data base that is public. Also any good news post out there? Thanks Guys/ Gals and be safe out there!!!

A little backstory first. I am a single 19 year old loadmaster currently assigned to C-130J's out of Ramstein, Germany. I will be heading there in a month or so once I finish up training. The problem is I just got offered to fly on the MC-130J.. Out of Cannon AFB, New Mexico. Being on the MC-130 has always been my dream but it's just hard to give up Germany for NM. I need input from both the C and MC guys. And advice would be much appreciated! I'm really torn on this one. Thank you!

Hi Guys, I am working on 3D Model of the C-130H. It is going to be very detailed and very precise model with high-rez texture (all technical marks will be readable). I have found lots of references for whole airplane except of landing gear principal kinematic scheme and technical inscriptions on the engine and on top of airplane. If any one can help me with it I would very appreciate it! Thank you! Dmitriy www.precise3dmodeling.com

Hey guys, Im looking at creating a 3D object and want to use a variety of C-130s!! To make my workload light I was thinking of killing three birds with one stone. Am I correct when I say that the AC-130U is roughly the same model as a C-130H and a C-130(T) or KC-130H. Please let me know know so that way I don't build three different types. I also need super detailed blueprints if anyone has them and if there is any info on C-130Hs out there at all. And I mean all of it. start up procedure. FLight manual etc... I really appreciate the help and what you guys have going on here is great! Best 63

I watched this movie last night. Since there was a C-130 featured in the beginning, I drove my girlfriend nuts pausing & rewinding while trying to make out which one it was. She finally called a halt to my doings, called me an idiot and said it was a computer generated model. After that, we just sat back and enjoyed the movie. As usual, though, the film industry took some liberties & used a 727 cockpit for the interior shots. Pretty good movie overall, though. Don R.

Hello, I was a GAC troop at Dyess from 91-96. I remember when we transitioned from AMC to ACC, the aircraft were allowed to have nose art. Does anybody have any photos of the nose art that was on any of the aircraft during that time? I remember a few of the aircraft having some pretty impressive artwork applied to them. If I recall, 1689 was "Gizmo" and had a gremlin painted on the side of it. Aircraft 1677 was Rubber Chicken, but I don't think Howie Jack ever got his nose art approve. Do anyone have any pics of these Herks? The reason I am inquiring, is that I would like to an in-flight model an ACC 40 AS Dyess Herk, but there's not a lot of photos on the intern…

The Ladder 1 2

You guys will love this. USAF personnel can no longer climb the ladder with anything in their hands. So, if you need to do intake/exhaust inspections, tighten a fastener, whatever, someone has to hand you the appropriate tool. You certainly can't put anything in your pocket. Oh yea, the rear crew door is not allowed to be open if the aircraft hand aux pump is being used, such as during towing ops.
